lamictal

574118 tn?1305135284 thanks Narnia tegretol is still used in UK along with the other commonwealth countries not in the USA only rarely because of interactivity. lamictal i use for BP depression but because i used a cipralex for a while yesterday i had a mixed states. So i am confused whether it's from the AD or lamictal. I guess from the AD. I had stopped it 2 days ago. with lamictal contrary to tegretol for whichg you need regular blood tests it doesn't so it's safer i suppose.
Avatar f tn Hi, I would have to do some research on a lamictal tegretal study. I'm not sure whether lamictal is licensed in the UK, something else I shall have to look into.
Avatar f tn Kyle is spot on in his comment. Lamictal has been drug studied for use in treating Multiple Sclerosis in the UK with promising results. I do not understand what you mean by the 567 questions psych. test to which you referred.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had ringing in their ears due to Lamictal? i have been on Lamictal for almost 2 years. Over the last 6 months I have had four ear infections and now a constant ringing in my ears. I have seen a ENT doc and my hearing is perfect, nothing else is wrong, only the Lamictal that I am on. My doc one day said oh the ringing could be because of the lamictal which made me start obsessing over it, did not help, and now I have started weening myself off the lamictal but it is not an easy road.
Avatar f tn In the UK, do they check for dilation? Only really heard it done in USA, and I'm 37 haven't been checked so far!
6827092 tn?1389384819 Hi 007Bunny! Well that's good. Sorry about your sun allergy. That's rough. Glad you went to the ER and that it only took less than an hour. 4 hours is short here. You can be waiting 16 hours to the next day to be seen. When there is Steven Josnson Syndrome suspected, they have to rush you because it is a race against the clock. Like strokes and heart attacks, the prognosis is best when treated as quickly as possible and goes downhill with every minute that ticks by.
Avatar m tn still taking the bupropion 150 and lamictal 100 but have had to start taking a lot more klonopin because to the rise in anxiety and I don't like taking this.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed years ago with Complex Partial Seizure and have had Epilepsy in some form or another since 1975. I started having the symptoms of Frontal Lobe Siezures about 6 months after my first accident. I was struck over the head with an Inch thick beer mug with enough pressure to give me a small skull fracture and 3 inch laceration cut on top of my head in Germany. Six months later I started having siezures.
552012 tn?1272855991 Why are the prices on Lamictal (lamotrigine) so expensive in the US? I'll tell you why. Drug companies! My daughter is waiting for her health insurance to kick in from her job and was running low. She got 2 weeks filled at $5 a pill!!!! This is WALMART and GENERIC!!!! $5 a freaking pill!!!! I got them from a pharmacy in Canada for her for $1.05 a pill ! 60 for 105 dollars!!!!! Those of you worried about Obama being socialistic...tell me...what has capitalism done for you lately???
Avatar f tn I went on line to see if there were some medications I could suggest to you that were available in the UK. Based on my pharmacy tech knowledge, I came up with a new one called Stavzor, then loxapine, tamoxifen and olanzapine (zyprexa) and risperdal and mirtazapine. These are available in the UK (according to the net...so I hope I am right.) The tamoxifen is mostly for the mania though. The mirtazapine is for the depression....which I think you should have one of each to stabalize.
552012 tn?1272855991 I just found out my 21 y/o daughter has been taking half of her doctor ordered dose in order to save MONEY! She is on lamictal, works 2 jobs, has health insurance, but Lamictal is a third tier drug for them and costs $5 a pill in the US. I bought her Zarontin (she was on that from age 3-10) before from a pharmacy in Canada. She is now buying her lamical in Canada. If you email me privately I will give you the email of that company.
1745492 tn?1320198340 I don't think there's such a thing as "not severe" bipolar disorder. The episodes of rage and anger are the manic side of manic-depression. Mania can be a high (pleasant if Type II, or as far as psychotic if type I) or rage/anger in either type. If these episodes occur very often, you may want to ask your doc about rapid cycling.
1448748 tn?1312956208 I was taking lamictal for pain and fatigue problems of unknown cause for the past 4 months, I've recently been having blurred vision and headaches in the last three weeks.
Avatar n tn These serious skin reactions are most likely to happen within the first 8 weeks of treatment with LAMICTAL. Serious skin reactions occur more often in children than in adults. Rashes may be more likely to occur if you: take LAMICTAL in combination with valproate (brand names are Depakene (valproic acid)* and Depakote (divalproex sodium)*), take a higher starting dose of LAMICTAL than your doctor prescribed, or increase your dose of LAMICTAL faster than prescribed.
Avatar f tn I am graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing this may and I have to have some stabilization in order to function. I have done well in the past on paxil, prozac, and lexapro but for some reason they keep "pooping out". My psychiatrist told me that the lamictal would help eliminate the "poop out syndrome" that occurs if a person has rapid cycling such as in bipolar disorder. She said that I may have a mild form of it and thats why the lamictal was prescribed.
1134609 tn?1269272200 The depressive episodes are kind of new to me; when I was cycling a lot, it was always towards the agitated mania side of the disorder. She's been pushing Lithium off and on over the oast few months; everytime I have a down swing. But, with every increase in Lamictal, my mood stabilizes more and more. If the Lamictal isn't effective as higher doses, then so be it, I'll work with the Lithium.
Avatar f tn If you are feeling any cognitive confusion that should go away in time. Once the Lamictal begins to work in full you can ask your psychiatrist about adjusting your other medications.
560501 tn?1383612740 Hello Friends :) I went to an MS Seminar last night (on MS) He heads a Well Known MS Clinic in PuertoRico. After his Talk he opened up the floor with a Q and A time for us to ask questions. I asked him how many patients he has or how often he see's people w/ MS that have an AD also. He said very often! I asked him how he treated his patients w/ AD.
645390 tn?1338555377 Yes there is the potential for a rash possibly leading to a serious skin side effect - Stevens-Johnson syndrome - but it is reputedly rare and, from what I have read, is more likely in younger patients. Also, that skin side effect is said to usually appear sometime in the beginning of taking the medication. I'd never heard of it being used for neuralgias - just as an anti-epileptic or as a mood stabilizer. Hope it works for you!
Avatar f tn I'm 19 and have been epileptic for 6 years, I have tried a variety of medications including keppra (giving me suicidal tendencies) and a couple of others which didn't control seizures. I have always been on Lamictal, which is slowly being increased after any fits or 'episodes' until the right dose for me is reached, in conjunction with this I also take Ethisuxomide, a drug that has worked well in controlling my absences.
