Common Questions and Answers about Lamictal for panic

lamictal

Avatar n tn I was put on lamictal for mania because I cannot take any of the traditional mania meds. Lamictal worked for me but I had side effects and had to stop it. Your dr is just following new medication lists.
333664 tn?1220800790 s made depression worse. Currently take lamictal for depression and klonopin for anxiety/panic disorder. Lexepro started panic attacks and still have them one year later. I still have spotty panic attacks and depression with the use of said drugs. Upped the dose of lamictal from 25 to 50 mg. a day and now have insomnia with depression. Klonopin seems to work well for anxiety but not the panic attacks. Still waiting for a depression med that works. By the way .5mg klonopin mornings and evenings.
739988 tn?1386672969 I mean like I take a med for depression, a med for mania, is there one for anxiety? Thank you for your help.
1021784 tn?1306363011 Is there anybody out there who tried or is taking Latuda for anxiety or anxiety disorders? If so, what dose are you taking, what side effects do you get, and any other information you wish to share about your treatment with Latuda.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Lamictal for years, but recently started taking Klonopin. I started having vivid dreams/nightmares within 3 days. I don't know if it's just the Klonopin, or if it's the mixture of the two medications. I plan to ask my physician next week at my appointment.
Avatar f tn My husband is bipolar, the kind that rapid cycles with mixed episodes. He has convinced the family doctor (not his psychiatrist) that he needs xanax for "panic attacks" which he does get every few months. However, the doctor gave him 60 1mg pills for a month. It seems to calm him down for a minute but then he seems to get crazier and takes way too much. Is xanax really good for someone with bipolar? Any suggestions for how I can deal with this situation?
Avatar f tn Well I was on Lamictal for almost 10 years and at higher doses (I was told by my psychopharmocologist this was not uncommon) that it could worsen mania and that's why I was changed to another mood stabilizer. Speak to your psychiatrist and make sure that's not the cause of the mania (of course it could easily be that its just not working well enough and the whole issue is their judgment).
Avatar f tn Since Wellbutin, Lamictal and Topaxax all have the same side effects of anxiety, hyperactivity, insomnia, mood swings why use them to treat a manic episode, especially a severe one? My Psych. has me on all three, plus Klonopin, am not getting anybetter and refuse to take anti-psychotic meds.
Avatar f tn Lamictal doesn't do anything for anxiety. Lamictal works great for my mood disorder. I take xanax as needed when I have panic attacks, but not daily.
Avatar f tn Hello All! I am really hoping that someone can help me with information on this. I recently found out (about 3 weeks ago) that I am pregnant - quite by surprise and we all know what that means - wasn't taking great care of myself. I even fasted a couple of days trying to lose weight! Anyway, I drank over the course of this time - I don't think anything too crazy but I honestly wasn't keeping track. My psychotropics are what I'm really afraid of.
526901 tn?1216334227 If the Abilify works except for panic attacks, why don'y you see about adding an antidepressant first? The reason I say that is Lamictal is a great drug but it takes 5 weeks to build up to the appropriate dose. Everyone goes on a 5 week starter pack. That's a long time, while Celexa and Lexapro for example work within 2-3 weeks. They help with panic attacks. This is provided Abilify helps you, if not, I would see about switching too.
1011826 tn?1274492712 Hi Everyone! For those of you on or who have tried Lamictal, did you ever have constant or near constant spasms, shakiness, dizziness, and loss of balance? I am on the starter pack right now, in the last week, so I was on 50 mg for the past 2 weeks and last night took my first 100 mg dose. Today I woke up-barely- and felt all of the above, which have been continuing now for the past 2 hours. I am a bit worried and wonder if I should call the doc.
Avatar f tn I have been experiencing sort of a non-stop full blown panic attack for about 2 weeks. Dr. put me on Lamicatal and Seroquel. The Seroquel knocked me out the first night, but now I need lots more to fall asleep. For the life of me I cannot figure out what started this for me, I mean it is really bad.
Avatar n tn Went to bed at about 9pm and woke up the next morning to anxiety, it progressed throughout the day until constant panic. This went one for over a week, it was not panic attacks, panic attacks dont last for days. I felt like electricity was shooting through my body, it was horrible. I was unable to sleep, I probably slept no more than 1-2 hours a night for 1-2 weeks.
Avatar f tn t stop crying and I am having panic attacks. I have been on Wellbutrine and lamictal for a while for depression and bi-polar. Any thoughts would be appreciated. My doc prescribed Lorezapan because of my panic attacks.
Avatar f tn I had been doing so well on the lamictal and cymbalta that I thought I had no need for psychiatrist for the last 10 months or so. Now, bam, I need one and who wants to start with a patient that already has SJS. When I had dbl couverage insurance I could get in anywhere. (least of problems) 4. I've seen, neurologist, internal med.
Avatar f tn She said that she thought my panic attacks were manic episodes that manifest as irritability and panic. I don’t get it. I do have ups and downs but just like anyone else I think. I have always done well with just an antidepressant but they always seem to poop out after a couple of years and that is why she put me on the lamictal. She said that “poop out” could be another sign of bipolar. Could the Lamictal be causing any of these problems. Please help. Im lost here!
Avatar n tn m sure there are ones specific to Lamictal but there are for any medication. Dizziness and nausea can happen with Lamictal and did with me but I got used to them more so then Depakoate and Lithium that caused vomiting for me.
Avatar m tn wanted me to go on xanax at 12 but had already developed a fear of taking meds for fear I would die from them and even before that ocd having to count to 10 10 times before answering the phone for fear Id get cancer...tall order for a child to deal with...@17 my nearaligist diagnosed panic attacks officially and I dealt with my symptoms until I was given clonazem 6 yrs ago...those where the most normalcy i have ever experienced in my entire life...
Avatar f tn I was asking my dr. how long I'd need the Effexor..he explained that part to me..each case is different, it depends on how many relapes I've had and the likeyhood of having more. But told me not to stop c/t. That Effexor needs to be dose reduced slowly; if not it is not pleasant, "it will make you feel like you have been bitten by a flu bug taking steroids". So I can imagine how bad you felt physically.
Avatar f tn I currently take 400mg of Lamictal without any problems, but I also take remeron and valium. This combination seems to work for me and except for an occasional panic atttack(I'm diagnosed with that also) my anxiety level is pretty stable. As for Seroquel, I had the same problem with weight gain(40 lbs.) so told my doctor to take me of it and I've since lost the weight through diet and exercise. One outlet that I find very useful for anxiety is meditation, even for a few minutes a day.
