Avatar n tn So my doc took me off the Lamictal, starting last night. He said Lamictal has a half live of 24 hours, meaning every 24 hours the amount of Lamictal in your sytem dissipates by one half of what was present the previous day. If that is true, wouldnt this clear up fast? Has this happened to anyone else on Lamictal?? Could it be something else? Infection? Virus? This has me worried. Any information would be most appreciated.
Avatar n tn Hi. I am bipolar and currently taking Lithium, Neurontin, Seroquel & Lamictal. I have only been on the Lamictal for about 7 weeks, starting @ 25mg & every 2 weeks adding another 25mg; thus I am currently @ 100mg per day.
Avatar m tn Lamictal made me sweat!! It was on the list of many side effects for me though (suicidal thoughts, chest pain, neck stiffness) and the medicine seems to be working well for you. If it's bearable and working I would say stick with it!
1448748 tn?1312956208 I was taking lamictal for pain and fatigue problems of unknown cause for the past 4 months, I've recently been having blurred vision and headaches in the last three weeks.
Avatar m tn There is no heart problems in my family I have never had a problem with my heart this is the first. The first time it happen I had a sharp pain in my chest it woke me up in bed . I went to doctor I had shoveled snow that day my doc thought perhaps a pulled muscle caused it . The pain has ended but the fast heart rate is still happening. That is why I have had the other test . I have just started new medication also about a two months ago.
1448748 tn?1312956208 Im taking lamictal to try and see if it helps with neuropathic pain, I am not diagnosed with ms,actually just started to look at the possibility last week due to vision issues and normal eye exam. Well my doc said to stop taking my lamictal to see if it helped with my vision issues and if vision issues persist then test for ms.
524020 tn?1223161005 Keep in mind that about 1 in 300 people can develope an allergic reaction to Lamictal shortly after starting. This will show itself as a rash around the neck or chest. IF YOU GET THIS RASH THEN DISCONTINUE THE LAMICTAL IMMIDIATLY AND CALL YOUR DOCTOR. This is rare, but can happen to some people. That's why Lamictal must be started at very low dosage and ramped up slow to the effective dosage. The thing with Lamictal is that it just takes time.
Avatar n tn I am 19 years old. I have a lot of crepitus at shoulder and cracking (also along right arms) continue to bother me now almost 6 months. The doctor said ' this is the chronic shoulder pain'. I'm confused. I don't feel such pain. Except if i carry heavy load, i felt pain at upper chest. But i do feel very tired, i mean a real tired, include back pain/tired most of the time. Numbness on-off. Is that considered pain? The doctor set me on MRI. still havent done yet.
767237 tn?1332640177 ok so im on lamictal and it just got upped. My neck and face and chest have small bumps....acne like bumps. Is this a side effect of the med. or are they talking about a WAY different kind of rash?
540310 tn?1343624120 I have stopped taking lithium after 2 weeks i ended up with chest pain and shortness of breathe i loooked 7 mth pregnant and i was feeling sick. I am still taking effexor and will start Lamictal in a few days. The lithium seemed to stabelize my moods and i felt quite calm now i am slowly going back to swinging up and then way down hopefully the new med will help fingers crossed.
Avatar f tn I seem to be very forgetfull, at least that's what my husband tells me. I feel confused at times and clear at times. It may go with my mood. I use to be the best speller and can't think of how to spell simple words. I get frustrated. I'm on depakote, Lamictal 100mg, Lexapro, and amitriptyline for pain from my fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn I relapsed while on Lexapro and my doc started me on Effexor and Lamictal. The effexor was horrible for me, I felt awful and my blood pressure skyrocketed. The Lamictal is supposed to be a mood stabilizer. I am taking 200mg daily. My doc weaned me from Effexor and put me back on prozac 20mg (I stopped it several years back because it was making me extremely irritable). The prozac does not seem to be working like it did before.
Avatar m tn I've been taking lamictal for years and I suddenly got really bad migraines so I went down 25mg. my psychiatrist and physician is suggesting I take depakote with it. this is all new to me and decreasing lamictal has made me a lot more anxious.... if anyone has had any experience with the two together I would greatly appreciate any thoughts ideas or opinions.
Avatar n tn I was put on lamictal for my mood swings related to a TBI. I was on lamictal for 3 months, when the leg muscle stiffness and knee pain started. It got so severe after 5 months, I demanded to be taken off of it. I was taking 25mg, even though my doctor didn't believe the problem was lamictal, he told me to stop taking it the next day. The withdrawal is living hell. I have been off it for 3 weeks and the stiffness and pain is better, but I feel like I have the flu and the diarrhea is bad.
Avatar f tn I have anxiety, obsessive worry (ruminating over and over), social anxiety, depression, and get emotional (cry or get angry). So my lifelong doc says I have anxiety/depression and had me on Celexa. I've already tried a number of other SSRI's. The Celexa helps me alot with depression, social anxiety, and obsessive worry. But it makes me very tired, oversleep, and sexual side effects, and it gives me some physical feelings of anxiety in my chest.
1116472 tn?1260075052 i have been self medicating. alcohol for a couple yrs, the pain pills last few mos. I am unsure how the lamictal is working for me, as i have not had my right mind, after the seizure, i've suffered memory loss, so i haven't been able to guage what is doing what for me.
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone! I recently posted that I had been increased to 400 mg of Lamictal, going from 200 mg. To say that was a bad idea is an understatement! One day, out of the blue, I literally couldn't use my legs! My brain would say walk but the message did not register in my legs. Trouble is, it wouldn't last all day so the first time I thought, well maybe, I had been given too much anthesia when I had dental surgery, so I shrugged it off.
574118 tn?1305135284 i added seroxat 10mg no problem then i upped my lamictal to 4mg this on/off appeared. so it could be the interactivity of lamictal and seroxat. But in a different forum there was someone who takes both. now i remember, i was on 2mg lamictal then once i added seroxat it happened No i didn't post this question to IL, i am embarassed to bother him continuously. I just wish to know what was that.
Avatar f tn That rash is life-threatening and is most definitely caused by the Lamictal since you just doubled your dose. Lamictal increases are supposed to be VERY gradual. I am sorry you have to deal with this especially considering how well the Lamictal was working for you before.
Avatar f tn Hi everybody: I take Effexor XR, and have recently been told to take Lamictal to help the other drug along a bit and to stabilize my mood because of the PTSD. I was also told to watch for Stephens-Johnson's syndrome. Is this rare? It kind of scared me and I haven't started the med yet. I'm allergic to alot of meds, is this an allergy? Is anyone on this, and does it seem to help?
Avatar f tn Hi, I have been experiencing MS like symptoms recently and it is really scaring me..this is a long story so please bare with me. Three weeks ago I gave up smoking. I didnt smoke for long (6 months) and my lungs cleared out in a week. I had trouble breathing every night, my doctor said it was athsma and gave me an inhaler and steriods..however these did not improve my breathing. I started to notice severe pain in my back and chest area.
Avatar f tn extreme worry over big and little things, racing thoughts, muscle tension, dizziness, chest pain and gut spasms, and being almost totally unable to breathe deeply and calm myself. My nerves have become so jangled that it's actually impairing my motor skills (for instance, coordinating my fingers to type on a laptop), and I've began to do things I don't remember doing (like putting objects where I normally don't put them).
Avatar f tn Is there anything I can do to expedite the elimination of the Lamictal? Has anyone had these symptoms from Lamictal? Are the side effects permanent? Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn It feels lightly painful. The pain seems to go deep into my body. I am on Lamictal. Wondering if this is possibly a Lamictal rash? Shingles? I am 46. Ellen L.
