Lamictal and withdrawal symptoms

Common Questions and Answers about Lamictal and withdrawal symptoms

lamictal

Avatar n tn m sure there are ones specific to Lamictal but there are for any medication. Dizziness and nausea can happen with Lamictal and did with me but I got used to them more so then Depakoate and Lithium that caused vomiting for me.
Avatar n tn You can go to the medication website and that will be listed and you can show that to your psychiatrist and ask if that is what might have caused the muscle stiffness. Regardless if that has stopped the other side effects are more typical withdrawal symptoms and should go away without a probleem.
Avatar n tn I have been through a rollercoaster ride since March of last year. I was on Lamictal and Wellbutrin at that time. I stopped the Lamictal abruptly (I know, big no no) and started taking Wellbutrin right after. On the fourth day of taking the Wellbutrin, I started experienced violent jerking movements as I was trying to fall asleep. I didn’t sleep at all for three nights. Finally I went to the pcp and she prescribed Restoril for the time being.
1011826 tn?1274492712 After two days of withdrawal, most of the symptoms have gone away. I have been withdrawing very gradually, but this particular shift was difficult. Still experiencing headaches, but shakiness and insomnia have cleared. I plan on drinking more water and taking a bath with Epsom salts to detox, and to do some yoga as well today to help the process along. Thanks again!
Avatar f tn re taking it for mood symptoms. However, some people who stopped suddenly DID get withdrawal symptoms, namely withdrawal seizures, just like you get if you're epileptic and you stop it suddenly. But it's not like an anti-depressant, which has pretty serious withdrawal. I'd go down one tablet and then wait a few days to see if something happens, and then just keep going ad lib.
1744581 tn?1311302411 Well, hard to say, but if it were me I'd ditch the Lamictal and Klonopin. Over time, both create physical dependency and can be very difficult to withdraw from, especially the Klon. You may be in tolerance withdrawal because all of your symptoms are signature benzodiazepine withdrawal symptoms. Do not quit these drugs cold turkey. They must be tapered.
Avatar f tn Hi, I hope I'm posting in the right place. My problem is trying to withdrawal from lamictal. I went from 50mg to 37.5mg and started getting really depressed with dark thoughts. I went back up to 50mg for 5 or 6 days and today went to 75mg. It's not seeming to get better, I'm crying and having panic attacks, I feel unreal and "lost". I've tapered off of ativan, effexor and abilify and have NEVER encountered such a dark place.
Avatar f tn He lowered it back to 100 and I feel like crap. Dizzy, nauseous, weak and am sleeping way too much even though it still feels like not nearly enough. My brain does not feel right. HOW LONG WILL THIS LAST? This is day 4. I have serious depression now instead of irritation. I could care about nothing. My brain is not functioning and I am one of those adults you hear about that goes back to college. I have major schoolwork due. My medication had not been changed in over 2 years.
Avatar f tn Hi all After a couple of weeks of reducing my 700mg daily dose, took my final Lithium tablet just over a week ago. I followed doctors orders as to the withdrawal timescale, and they said it should not cause any problems. They advised that it's just a type of salt, and is not even technically a drug, so it's not the same as withdrawing from other meds.
Avatar m tn I was on 1 mg and I developed these symptoms developed 2 days after dose was tapered from 1.5mg and a GP asked me to stop it a he told me this could be TD.How long will these withdrawal symptoms last?.No other drugs but Psychiatrist was planning on starting Lamictal or tegretol after stopping risperdal.I have been on risperdal since august 3rd 2009.Any answers?.
596143 tn?1226648054 I used to take Cymbalta, and I think it depends on your diagnosis - (I take Lamactil). My pdoc doesn't think that Cymbalta is good for BP1 - and he took me off of it. It was a HARD withdrawal period, but I do feel better now just taking Cymbalta.
Avatar f tn Not necessarily, no. The better way according to my research is to successfully withdraw from a drug before starting a new one. Most psychiatrists have their own way of doing it, and so you have to accept that they have had success doing it that way. But I believe in erring on the side of safety, and that means tapering off a drug at a pace that suits you, not one that suits the psychiatrist. Everyone is going to have their own experience and stopping and starting meds should reflect that.
Avatar m tn I am on Trileptal, Lamictal, and Luvox. The only reason why I am really confused is because we haven't made any medication changes for quite a while now. I was very stable for a while, and still am emotionally, but these nightmares and sweats are getting a bit concerning. I just don't like not knowing what is going on with my body. Can your medication start giving you side effects even after being on them for a long time.
Avatar n tn Hello, I had been on Celexa 50mg for 5 years and two months ago started to slowly tapper off and now am off for a week. My withdrawal symptoms are: dizziness and some nausea, electric shocks in my body and head, blurred vision at times, lethargy, very vivid dreams and flu like symptoms. I think the dizziness is the worst which includes nausea at times. I believe these withdrawal symptoms will subside with the Lord's help.
10608291 tn?1411415602 I have been having A simular problem. I have been withdrawing from lamictal for 2 months, and paxil for the last 6, and a half weeks. I took them, for a very long time! ( I was on lamictal for 9 years, and paxil for 18 years) . I stopped taking them because I found out the paxil was giving me seizures for year. The dr never told me paxil can cause seizures she just sent me to a neurologist who put me on lamictal. Anyway, I don't even recognize some of the feeling that arrive.
Avatar m tn is this mix ok? i used to take Wellbutrin and Lamictal, but now only Lamictal. my therapist feels i need something to boost my concentration and Wellbutrin didnt work.
Avatar f tn I have Bipolar I, and have been experiencing a great deal of relief from Lamictal/Lamotrigine for several years. However, my psychiatrist is starting to raise the dose, and I don't know why. I haven't been with this psychiatrist for very long. I was on the usual dose of 200mg/day; then, she raised it to 400mg/day. I'm not sure I felt much better from raising it, but it's possible, so I wasn't worried. Now, though, she wants to raise it to 600mg/day.
Avatar f tn I have taken the effexor and felt the terrible withdrawal symptoms of taking it. I should of done a taper but I didn't and I didn't go onto another mood stabilizer right away either. So at least you have a backup plan. It seems like it took a month to get the effexor out of my system. It was rough. Perhaps, that is what is happening to you. Replacing it with something else is a good idea but it takes a couple of weeks to start working.
355133 tn?1241569648 Work with them as to what can help you and how. Its not only so much withdrawal symptoms to be concerned about but a return of what symptoms its treating. You can discuss this with your psychiatrist.
Avatar f tn Whatever you do, do not go off the lamictal because the withdrawal is baaaad! I took myself off it last week and wow! Dizzy, nausea, feel like someone poisoned me. Went back on it (100 mg) tonight. plus I am on perphenazine and sertraline, all for bipolar 2.
Avatar f tn The side effect profile on it is not much better then other anti-psychotics and unless you are experiencing severe depression I would question its use. Stick with Lamictal though, it will ease withdrawal symptoms for you. Ask your NP why s/he did not choose a different more convention SSRI or SNRI antidepressant. Good luck and stay well.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed Bipolar II with minor depression and was put on Lamictal teetering up 25 mg every 2 weeks with 150mg Wellbutrin (Zyban) the aim was to reach 200mg and see how I feel, by the start of the seventh week, I got tiny itchy patches on my cheeks that flaired up after I took the Lamictal… so stopped lamictal, (remained on the wellbutrin) and went on an antihistamine (Atarax) for a 2 weeks 25/50mg, did some surface (72 hour skin contact) allergy tests and came negative for Lamictal so I w
