It sounds like you are on way too much stuff and why would your psychiatrist dope you up like that? Valium and Klonopin are habit forming. Have you had your bloodwork done regularly? It is so very important to have that check and each med your on can mess up a different organ. BTW, how does the Neurontin work for you? I just started it. Thanks!
I was suprised as I thought valium was the best to taper from. I am also on lamictal and trileptal and they both effect gaba so I think its too much for my brain. I hope to taper off lamictal also as I am severly depressed so its not working either. whats the point of taking drugs that dont work. My dr also prescribed neurotin . I took it a few times then read it also effects Gaba. I cant think or concentrate or learn anything new . I have no memory and learn anything new.
I currently take 400mg of Lamictal without any problems, but I also take remeron and valium. This combination seems to work for me and except for an occasional panic atttack(I'm diagnosed with that also) my anxiety level is pretty stable. As for Seroquel, I had the same problem with weight gain(40 lbs.) so told my doctor to take me of it and I've since lost the weight through diet and exercise. One outlet that I find very useful for anxiety is meditation, even for a few minutes a day.

bipolar, lamictal 150mg 1xday, tegretol 200mg 2xday (400mg total). Ever since i started the tegretol, things are great, but there is this weird side effect in the back of my mouth enveloping my entire throat, tongue, etc. Nothing I can't deal with, nothing food and/or a valium/ativan as instructed can't solve, but it leads to grinding and other annoyances.
Has anyone else even remotely heard of anything closely resembling this?
First, I'd like to give you a bit of a background on me. I've been struggling with depression and since I was a senior in high school. I was hospitalized for a week my senior year because I wanted to kill myself. I recently completed my sophomore year of college. Last summer I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I am in a long distance relationship. He lives in GA and we've been together for a little over a month.
She currently takes Lamictal 50 mgs BID and Zonegram 100 mg for seizures, plus Focalin for ADD. Two months ago she messed up her meds and accidently took 25 migs Lamictal BID instead of 50. About 3 weeks later she started what looked like tics at first - neck and head jerking - and they worsened. Then they began to look more like partial seizures - since they became more forceful, rapid, and were always to the right side.
I know since I started the Lamictal I have had a huge decrease in my symptoms with mild returns. I use to shake and bite m tongue on oxy and the Lamictal has stopped that so far. I am afraid if I combined the Flexeril I am punting myself at risk for the full body shakes again and tongue biting. The oxy alone is not working for the pain I wouldnt have mind trying the Flexeril but I read seizure is a side effect? if it is I am a leery if it is not a side effect I am willing to try it.
I was diagnosed with Bipolar II ten years ago. I have been taking 150mg wellbutrin, 1mg valium, and 15mg lamictal for it. I recognize that Bipolar I is more severe, however the usual dose for anyone with Bipolar disorder is between 25mg-200mg.
Listen, doctors will truly mess up your life without intending to.
I have been on lamictal 100mg to 150mg, and I haven't noticed any facial hair growth, although I think my hair is thinning out. When I take a shower and put cream rinse in and work it thru, I have lots of hair coming out.
It should work once it reaches an appropriate dose. Occassionally at higher dosages Lamictal can sometimes worsen mania but it takes time and a psychiatrist has to see how they are responding in general. Keep a mood tracker here and print out the results for your psychiatrist and ask them to follow up.

I was taking Bupropion and Lamictal, and switched to Effexor. I have been on Effxor for three weeks. I have had the worst fatigue I have ever felt. So now I am unsure if it was coming off the Lamictal or if it was the Effexor. I am going to stop the Effexor, but I don't know if I should go back on just the Lamictal, The lamictal When I first started taking it, up to 200 mg worked fairly well.
I guess my question is, is , has this kind of fatigue been know to be a side effect with Effexor?
I have seen a ENT doc and my hearing is perfect, nothing else is wrong, only the Lamictal that I am on. My doc one day said oh the ringing could be because of the lamictal which made me start obsessing over it, did not help, and now I have started weening myself off the lamictal but it is not an easy road. I was on 100mg then went down to 50mg for a week now I am down to 25 mg and valuim to take edge off, I hate the way I am feeling and the panic attacks or anxiety are hard.
Ive been on lamictal for around 5 months. added to depakote and has changed my life (diagnosis bipolar). i can actually get off the couch.
I have been trying to lose weigth for a while with no avail. Started lamictal: nausea and some light cramping. although hungry, sometimes I can't eat. Am down from 118# to 112# and continue to fall without effort. even eating chocolate.

I have been on 200 mg Zoloft, 200 mg lamictal, wellbutrin and 3 mg Xanax daily for 3 years. before welbutrin I was on abilify and it worked very well but it was unaffordable so doc changed it to welbutrin , which I never thought worked.
I started feeling down and anxious and asked the dr to change me back to abilify since I had new ins that will cover it . Instead she weaned me off the Zoloft in only 9 days with instructions to start pristiq 50 mg daily after the nine days.
Hi. My question is about using a mood stabilizer (Lamictal) with my Opana and hydromorphone, fentanyl and before, oxycontin. I do not get any euphoria from opiate or opiod medications or get much mental effects..and I'm wondering if my mood stabilizer is the reason for this...like it maintains me at an a level mood and this prevents my mood from being elevated similar to how it prevents me from having manic symptoms. Just a fyi, I'm not looking for the euphoria and hyperness etc....
