t want to feel emotionally numb . So my doctor suggested Lamictal . I m on week 3 my dose is 50 mg for the day . And I m experiencing a feeling of being drunk . Sleepiness and less alertness with slightly blurred vision and mild loss of co ordination. Is it normal side effects and will it go away or should I change medications ? Please help .
t just target one system (valerian and kava mainly target GABA, as benzos do but with milder action and no addiction or withdrawal reported). An overall approach would combine relaxants with adrenal support with perhaps amino acids that affect serotonin. Again as to "most powerful," most would say California poppy is stronger than valerian, but makes people even drowsier, and opium, which is an herb after all, is even stronger still.

What cj told you regarding discussing adding ANY herbal supplement to a prescription drug with your doctor, I can't agree with more.
In the past, we have all assumed that if something is "natural" it can't hurt us.
If it was being used as a mood stabilizer (not an antipsychotic) Lamictal and Tegretol are quite effective mood stabilizers. I personally found Lamictal to be more tolerable and more effective but each person reacts differently to each medication. Go to the welcome page and we have some websites linked up for informational purposes about mood stabilizers. Speak to your psychiatrist about all this.
I have been on lamictal 100mg to 150mg, and I haven't noticed any facial hair growth, although I think my hair is thinning out. When I take a shower and put cream rinse in and work it thru, I have lots of hair coming out.
It should work once it reaches an appropriate dose. Occassionally at higher dosages Lamictal can sometimes worsen mania but it takes time and a psychiatrist has to see how they are responding in general. Keep a mood tracker here and print out the results for your psychiatrist and ask them to follow up.

The contraceptive is suppose to help but I have been taking it without a break for 7 months and have bled each and every day since. I take valerian root when I feel like my brain is going to explode, it literally feels like it is touching my skull and makes me super antsy. Can any help out there, caust this isn't working!
I was taking Bupropion and Lamictal, and switched to Effexor. I have been on Effxor for three weeks. I have had the worst fatigue I have ever felt. So now I am unsure if it was coming off the Lamictal or if it was the Effexor. I am going to stop the Effexor, but I don't know if I should go back on just the Lamictal, The lamictal When I first started taking it, up to 200 mg worked fairly well.
I guess my question is, is , has this kind of fatigue been know to be a side effect with Effexor?
I have seen a ENT doc and my hearing is perfect, nothing else is wrong, only the Lamictal that I am on. My doc one day said oh the ringing could be because of the lamictal which made me start obsessing over it, did not help, and now I have started weening myself off the lamictal but it is not an easy road. I was on 100mg then went down to 50mg for a week now I am down to 25 mg and valuim to take edge off, I hate the way I am feeling and the panic attacks or anxiety are hard.
Ive been on lamictal for around 5 months. added to depakote and has changed my life (diagnosis bipolar). i can actually get off the couch.
I have been trying to lose weigth for a while with no avail. Started lamictal: nausea and some light cramping. although hungry, sometimes I can't eat. Am down from 118# to 112# and continue to fall without effort. even eating chocolate.
just wondering if I should be concerned something else is going on.
ll alternate between the valerian and the Klonopin, and only on as as needed basis. I am trying to keep my prozac at 40 ml, as more than that does keep me awake at night.
I've nearly reached menopause, so maybe my good sleep of the long-ago past will some day return!

I wish your daughter well, I too am on Keppra 375mg twice daily and have started lamictal 50mg per day. I am also very irritable and tired. My doc wants to wean me off Keppra and slowly increase my lamictal. Luckily I have not had a reaction this far with it but its only been two weeks. He wants to switch due to the irritability from Keppra. I was taking Wellbutrin for depression but am not any longer, did feel I need it haha.
