Lamictal and rage

Common Questions and Answers about Lamictal and rage

lamictal

1745492 tn?1320198340 I am diagnosed with bipolar disorder. It's not severe, but I need medication. I'm on Lamictal. My symptoms were a lot worse before starting this medication. The only thing I still notice are occasional anger/rage episodes. I will yell, throw and kick things, and break things. I've never hurt anyone else. Nothing seems to trigger them, though. Or if something does happen before one, it is very minor and doesn't constitute that amount of anger.
477959 tn?1208204005 now I am still on a low dose of lamictal 75mg and am going to be raising the dose again in 2 weeks. My dr. told me that if lamictal doesnt work that lithium is my last resort. I really do NOT want to be on lithium. does anyone else know of some meds that might help. keep in mind that ssri's and snri's dont agree with me. sorry for rambling I am on one of my highs.
Avatar f tn I truly hope it will help you. I do not have such manias. I just fly a bit high, very funny, racing thoughts, doing smtg and can't concentrate, talking to few ppl at once etc. not much fun for me but it can get unnoticed from the outside. And all that with just 3 or 4 hours of sleep. I don't like it. Don't mind for a day or two but I know that I will crash later on and have to sleep, do nothing, have rest, not talk at all and get depressed. :( Your case is much more serious.
4430260 tn?1355099657 I have recently be diagnosed and am only on week of lamactil so 50! I woke up angry! And got so mad it scared me! I have never had rage that bad! Don't get me wrong I rage but this was bad!
Avatar n tn I have been suffering from bipolar and rage attacks since the age of 3. I was just diagnosed with the bipolar about a year ago. I have taken a lot of different meds that never seemed to do anything, but even my the dr, said it was all trial and error. But now I am on 200mg of lamictal, 1mg of riperadol, and 50mg of elavil. I havent felt this good in years. Sorry this is'nt really a question but I needed to tell someone.
Avatar f tn i can control it to that extent). Today, they were playing (theyre 6 and 2) and they were arguing...and I flipped out...put them in their rooms...and now I am sitting here heart racing, pissed off at the world, and I dont even know why. Is this bipolar? Has it been there the entire time? Any advice is appreciated.
Avatar f tn My son was diagnosed with BiPolar disorder when he was 15 after he was referred to a Psychiatrist after I took him to the doctor because his Night Terrors which he had had since the age of 2 were becoming more frequent and harder to bring him out of. The Psych doc prescribed Prozac for him and after only 3 weeks the night terrors had ceased all together but he had started having uncontrollable rage attacks through the day.
574118 tn?1305135284 Yesterday as I had a rage which I was able to stop by an additional seroquel of 25mg. Suppose this rage is mania and I had 2 previous months of stability before then this mania erupted yesterday but I will not having it the coming days. My question is would this mania be considered a full episode or because it's one mania that was aborted then it isn't one. Because really I don't understand the meaning of an episode (not the english meaning) but how it lasts etc... i.e.
Avatar m tn m really more controlled then I used to be. Lamictal helps a bit, but getting onto a higher dose of Seroquel and 250mgs Lamictal, between the two, they have mellowed me out considerably. I was bouncing off the walls when I was only take 50mgs 3xday, I'm now on 100mgs SeroqeulXR lunchtime and 300mgsXR @ bed, it helps my brain shut down, it's the worst afternoon and evening.
Avatar n tn my physician put me on celexa, inderal, klonopin and trazadone. with celexa alone i have rage attacks, when she added klonopin to the regime i got migraines hence the inderal. The trazadone was added to help me sleep (i was averaging 1-2 hrs a night). i wanted to sleep all the time and could not stay awake. After a few months of this i decided something need to change, doctor switched klonopin with lithium and stopped the inderal and trazadone.
Avatar f tn i can advise you to speak to your doctor about your problems, ive been through the same thing and its part of dysphoric mania, where your mind is depressed but you have all this energy that changes into rage and anger. you could take lamatical and lithium together but they do have their side effects which can ruin your treatment plan. best to speak to your doctor.
1192491 tn?1265031829 I'm currently on Lamictal, and I haven't experienced too many negative side effects aside from a general forgetfulness (i.e., I will sometimes get up to retrieve something in another room, but I forget what it is I need to get once I'm there). When I increased my dosage from 50 mg to 100 mg, I also experienced some 'flu-like symptoms', but that dissipated within a week or two.
Avatar m tn ve been on lamotrigine (200mg) for 3 months now and although I feel better on the whole, I sometimes go into these irrational fits of rage to the point where I feel and act like a bloody lunatic on PCP. I used to have these before I was on meds. But I was more irritable before than I am now.
997928 tn?1252444237 I've done okay with lamictal, but lamictal and celexa, not so good. And now lamictal with wellbutrin, not so good. At least I think it's not the lamictal. I know my PsychNP put a big no in her notes regarding me and celexa.
Avatar f tn has anyone had stomach problems with lithium and lamictal while takimg them at the same time?.....
1687184 tn?1307478592 I am on Lamotrigine/lamictal and it has worked wonders for my mood. Very few side effects too. Side effects of drugs scare me too. I do a LOT of research as well. I've decided I like me on meds better than I like me off meds. I take an antipyschotic too (Geodone). That is scary crap. Took me a long time to start taking that pill. I was pretty desperate though. It helped a lot. I like me when I take these two meds. I am scared of what I become (an ultra rapid cycling mess) without them.
Avatar f tn I have been on lamictal 100mg to 150mg, and I haven't noticed any facial hair growth, although I think my hair is thinning out. When I take a shower and put cream rinse in and work it thru, I have lots of hair coming out.
Avatar m tn I have been on a lot of different meds in the last 10 years. Geodon and topamax were the worst. Both made me suicidal and a completely different person--rage ,throwing things, severely depressed to the point that I couldn't get out of bed. Now I am on lexapro (which I have been on for years) 20mg , Wellbutrin ( my new psychiatrist just upped me to 450 mg), temezapam 15 mg. I am also tapering off of lamictal 250 mg.
Avatar f tn It should work once it reaches an appropriate dose. Occassionally at higher dosages Lamictal can sometimes worsen mania but it takes time and a psychiatrist has to see how they are responding in general. Keep a mood tracker here and print out the results for your psychiatrist and ask them to follow up.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed Bipolar II with minor depression and was put on Lamictal teetering up 25 mg every 2 weeks with 150mg Wellbutrin (Zyban) the aim was to reach 200mg and see how I feel, by the start of the seventh week, I got tiny itchy patches on my cheeks that flaired up after I took the Lamictal… so stopped lamictal, (remained on the wellbutrin) and went on an antihistamine (Atarax) for a 2 weeks 25/50mg, did some surface (72 hour skin contact) allergy tests and came negative for Lamictal so I w
Avatar m tn I was taking Bupropion and Lamictal, and switched to Effexor. I have been on Effxor for three weeks. I have had the worst fatigue I have ever felt. So now I am unsure if it was coming off the Lamictal or if it was the Effexor. I am going to stop the Effexor, but I don't know if I should go back on just the Lamictal, The lamictal When I first started taking it, up to 200 mg worked fairly well. I guess my question is, is , has this kind of fatigue been know to be a side effect with Effexor?
Avatar f tn I have seen a ENT doc and my hearing is perfect, nothing else is wrong, only the Lamictal that I am on. My doc one day said oh the ringing could be because of the lamictal which made me start obsessing over it, did not help, and now I have started weening myself off the lamictal but it is not an easy road. I was on 100mg then went down to 50mg for a week now I am down to 25 mg and valuim to take edge off, I hate the way I am feeling and the panic attacks or anxiety are hard.
Avatar m tn I am a 32 year old woman of average height and weight. I've been on norg-eth estra tri (I think the generic of Trinessa? Trisprintec? So many names for birth controls...) for years now, but have had issues with breakthrough bleeding as of the last few months. Thus, my doctor, who is also my GYN, prescribed a different brand. On Sunday the 21st of December I began Lomedia Fe with iron pills for the last few days of my AF.
Avatar n tn I struggled with repetative harmful thoughts although I do not use marijuana. I am on lamictal also, and my doctor added Abilify when I started having this problem. It helped me out a lot. I hope he feels better soon! I know how hard it is to deal with such negative thoughts.
Avatar n tn Ive been on lamictal for around 5 months. added to depakote and has changed my life (diagnosis bipolar). i can actually get off the couch. I have been trying to lose weigth for a while with no avail. Started lamictal: nausea and some light cramping. although hungry, sometimes I can't eat. Am down from 118# to 112# and continue to fall without effort. even eating chocolate. just wondering if I should be concerned something else is going on.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed about a year ago with Epilepsy and put on Lamictal. My question is, when God willing the time comes, what is the track record with these drugs and pregnancy and breast feeding?
