2176476 tn?1338605299 I've been on the Lamictal for about 8 months, and it has worked well in conjunction with something else. I've tried taking it alone, or not taking it when on something else, but it seems like the combination is the key. It's just finding what that something else is that's affordable. My insurance covers this Rx, but it doesn't apply to the Rx program... meaning it applies to my Deductible. (So it might as well be not covered).
Avatar f tn Hello, I was diagnosed with a Pituitary tumor about 18 years ago. I started suffering with anxiety and depression at age18. I had the signs back then but wasn't diagnosed for 10 more years. I was given dostinex which I took till 5 years ago. I'm 46 now. At this time I was also on a anxiety med and had no anxiety that I can recall. I quit taking the dostinex as I said 5 years ago and have been suffering ever since.
1039200 tn?1314912008 I will enquire as to why they did not change to lamictal before, and the possibility of doing so in the future. It might make all the difference.
Avatar f tn Traditionally, prolactin levels were measured in ng/ml, and normal prolactin levels in women are less than 20 ng/ml. The new units are pmol/l and to convery you need to multiply by 44. This means the normal level is less than 700 pmol/l or mIU/L High prolactin levels can cause anovulation. Some women with hyperprolactinemia may also notice that they have a milky discharge from their breasts. This is called galactorrhea.
997928 tn?1252444237 I've done okay with lamictal, but lamictal and celexa, not so good. And now lamictal with wellbutrin, not so good. At least I think it's not the lamictal. I know my PsychNP put a big no in her notes regarding me and celexa.

Avatar f tn It should work once it reaches an appropriate dose. Occassionally at higher dosages Lamictal can sometimes worsen mania but it takes time and a psychiatrist has to see how they are responding in general. Keep a mood tracker here and print out the results for your psychiatrist and ask them to follow up.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed Bipolar II with minor depression and was put on Lamictal teetering up 25 mg every 2 weeks with 150mg Wellbutrin (Zyban) the aim was to reach 200mg and see how I feel, by the start of the seventh week, I got tiny itchy patches on my cheeks that flaired up after I took the Lamictal… so stopped lamictal, (remained on the wellbutrin) and went on an antihistamine (Atarax) for a 2 weeks 25/50mg, did some surface (72 hour skin contact) allergy tests and came negative for Lamictal so I w
Avatar m tn I was taking Bupropion and Lamictal, and switched to Effexor. I have been on Effxor for three weeks. I have had the worst fatigue I have ever felt. So now I am unsure if it was coming off the Lamictal or if it was the Effexor. I am going to stop the Effexor, but I don't know if I should go back on just the Lamictal, The lamictal When I first started taking it, up to 200 mg worked fairly well. I guess my question is, is , has this kind of fatigue been know to be a side effect with Effexor?
Avatar f tn I have seen a ENT doc and my hearing is perfect, nothing else is wrong, only the Lamictal that I am on. My doc one day said oh the ringing could be because of the lamictal which made me start obsessing over it, did not help, and now I have started weening myself off the lamictal but it is not an easy road. I was on 100mg then went down to 50mg for a week now I am down to 25 mg and valuim to take edge off, I hate the way I am feeling and the panic attacks or anxiety are hard.

541196 tn?1293552936 They perscribed me birth control pills and ordered a series of test like TSH, Free T4 and prolactin. I began the birth control pills and the lactation stopped. I didn't equate that beginning the birth control pill was related to the the halt of lactation until about a year later. They ordered the tests again and prolactin was normal. My endocrinologist however suspected that I needed to be off the pill and take the test again.
Avatar f tn All of them came in normal range except for Prolactin and Macro Prolactin with slight elevation 40ng/mL. I am currently on anti-depressant (Celexa and Atarax) so my doctor said it might be the medication that elevate my prolactin. He told me to come back in 4 months to reassess and told me not to worry because Prolactin can be controlled by medication. Is there anything else that I miss? Please let me know.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed about a year ago with Epilepsy and put on Lamictal. My question is, when God willing the time comes, what is the track record with these drugs and pregnancy and breast feeding?

I just went to have my annual physical and during some of the tests I have come to find out that I have a small ovarian cyst. Avatar f tn 9, LH 21, and Prolactin 9. The endocrinologist said I am in premature menopause and has sent me to see my ob doctor. I have a lot of dizzy spells with sinus trouble over the last several months. They said that because the prolactin dropped there is no need for an MRI but something is telling me otherwise. There is no history of premature menopause in my family??? Can someone help me make sense of this situation? Thank you!
Avatar f tn Hi I think hormones (imbalance) and prolactin are at the root cause of GM.. I have not taken anti-depressants prior to my developing GM, but I did take sulpha drugs and tI do have an allergy to them, a higher than normal incidence of sulpha drug allergy has been shown in the one study done in the US comparing lifestyle and health backgrounds of GM sufferers. Something initiates an auto-immune response in the breast...and it develops in to GM.
Avatar f tn I wish your daughter well, I too am on Keppra 375mg twice daily and have started lamictal 50mg per day. I am also very irritable and tired. My doc wants to wean me off Keppra and slowly increase my lamictal. Luckily I have not had a reaction this far with it but its only been two weeks. He wants to switch due to the irritability from Keppra. I was taking Wellbutrin for depression but am not any longer, did feel I need it haha.
Avatar f tn s what you were speaking about. I was prescribed Neurontin at the same time as Lamictal and I believe I was told by my psychopharmocologist that one enhances the effect of the other. Obviously that would be something to speak to your psychiatrist about but they would be the ones to prescribe it regardless.
