Avatar n tn I have major deep body charlie horses, even under rib cage, that come frequently now post surgery if I don't take my potassium -- Klor-Con: 10 mcg or something like that. It's a prescription dose. Also, magnesium is important. I would get checked out for a heart attack but it sounds likes like severe potassium deficiency. If you're on a diuretic, you definitely need to supplement with Klor-Con.
Avatar f tn range), so the Rx supplements are prescribed at a dosage that keeps my blood levels at an ideal level, and my blood levels are periodically measured to make sure that this is being maintained. With that caveat out of the way, I take Klor-Con M20 tablets (that's 20 milli-equivalents) 2x daily. To convert mEq to mg you have to flash back to chemistry class and use molecular weights etc., so I'm just cheating and getting numbers off a pharmacy site online.
214529 tn?1333303619 I have been taking a 10mg tablet of Klor Con for low potassium for a little over a week now. My level was 3.2 and normal is 3.5 to 5.0. When should I have my levels checked again and should I stop taking it since my level was not that low. The pills are huge and it hurts my stomach.
Avatar f tn My cardiologist put me on Lasix 40 mg twice daily and Klor Con M20 (one daily) in late October. My bypass surgery was in mid-November and my intense itching started after that. I was finished with the Coag Clinic back in late December and have had no further contact with that young female pharmacist.. In my opinion, she was not able to identify Klor Con M20 (potassium supplement) as the cause of all my itching and she knew all the medications I was on back then.
Avatar n tn They say I have thousands as many and as frequently as a second apart. I am 60. I am on Diovan, Carvedilol, Lipitor, Flursemide, Klor-con for the heart and Synthroid and Nexium.

12714324 tn?1426848387 I take Levothyroxine, Lasix, Klor-Con, Singulair, Xanax, Vitamin D, Stool softener, and some breathing pumps ( albuterol). Now they want me to add Lexapro.......... Anxiety is really high just thinking about it but honestly I will try anything to get my life back. I also feel like a burden to my family. It's the worse thing I ever had to deal with.......... 5536514 tn?1373500002 t like bananas except in milk shakes but have been told that they work and real cherry juice can help. I always have a Klor-con and a zinc tablet in my purse...sometimes my hands will seize up too.... Let us know what else you find out.
408795 tn?1324935675 Yeah I was told to stay away from salt and I was given the Lasix years ago with Klor-con as my potassium supplement. My doctor retired and this newer doctor that I have now, gave me the Lasix but wouldn't give me the Klor-con because he said my blood work doesn't show that I'm deficient from potassium. I told him that I didn't want it because I'm deficient, I told him that it forced me to drink more water and thereby let the Lasix work better.

Avatar n tn I'm a 30 yr old male suffering from a pulmonary embolism which was found a week ago. It started with afib which they say caused the blood clots. I've been put on klor-con 10meq(3 a day), Warafarin 2.5mg(1x a day), bystolic 2.5mg(1x a day), xanax .25mg(1every 6 hrs). My symptoms started about 5 hours before my afib. first symptom was a sudden numbness in my upper body with disorientation that lasted 20 minutes and then I felt tired.
Avatar f tn The medicines he is on make him dizzy and confused (more so than before) and he feels he is getting worse. He is on Furosemide, Klor-Con (potassium chloride), Aspirin, Metoprolol, Lisinopril, Hydralazine, Simvastatin, & Nitroglycerin cream. I am wondering if these medicines react well with one another. I know the Klor-Con makes him VERY confused and dizzy. Is there another type of potassium that can be used for the same effect that won't cause these symptoms?
1448921 tn?1287789632 Don't worry about the brain fog. I had the two issues conflated in my mind once before, too, and I think for me it happened because of knowing that fludrocortisone poses the potential side effect of hypokalemia and my brain short-circuiting on the salt-loading being irrespective of that. So apparently it's a common thing to trip up on with the brain fog, LOL.
Avatar f tn What is conception date?
Avatar f tn I was on Klor-con, but had an allergic reaction to it. My physician perscribed another potassium medication which is very expensive and my husband's insurance refuses to pay for without prior authorization. The pharmacy has faxed over the refusal to the doctor and has not heard back from her, this has been since early January also. I have the leg cramping from the low potassium and I have been eating bananas and oranges but they do not help much.
Avatar n tn In April my mother went into the hospital and after tests was told she was in heart failure, kidney failure, and liver failure. She is 74 and in poor health to begin with. The doctor gave her weeks to possibly 6 months. She's still living, however, recently she's deteriorated a bit. Last weeks lab work showed her hemoglobin was down to 8.1, her platelets down to 89,000 and her potassium was 2.9.
Avatar n tn I say call the doctor and they may do some blood work to check all your levels.
Avatar m tn I am trying to do research for my mom who takes 8 mEq's of K-Lor Con daily and has had two "diluted" drug tests results, could her medication be causing this? If so are there any articles that back this up?
