Ulcerative colitis is a form of inflammatory bowel disease . Ulcerative colitis is a form of colitis, a disease of the colon , that includes characteristic ulcers, or open sores. The main symptom of active disease is usually constant diarrhea mixed with blood, of gradual onset. IBD is often confused with irritable bowel syndrome , a troublesome, but much less serious, condition.
I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in early stage. Right now I am talking Lialda 1.2 mg 3 tablets once a day. The above symptoms have totally vanished. But literally I am not eating any spicy food or fibre food. I want to know the diet plan.I really lost weight. I have a new problem past 2 weeks. Every morning around 6.30 am or so i have a contracting pain in my lower left ribs. It's very stabbing and also I have lower back pain.
Check out the SCD (Specific Carbohdrate Diet) diet. I heard about this from a video on YouTube and was amazed at his recovery as well as getting off all the drugs. My 23 year old daughter was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis several years ago. One of the symptoms she developed was cystic acne, which we were told can be caused by the colitis. She's presently on Liadyl and her ulcerative colitis is under control but the cystic acne will not go away. She goes to the dermatologist constantly for injections, but the cysts just go down for a day and come right back up again. i am suffering from UlceraTIVE COLITIS FROM LAST SIX MONTHS CAN YOU PLEASE TELL CAN IT BE CURED FULLY.
Not sure whether it's ulcerative colitis or other form, but my question is - I was presecribed a foam steriod which is "squirted" up the back passage for my colitis. This is my 3rd day on that treatment. My pain and bleeding are still as bad as ever - I'm in agony. How long should I give the treatment to start having an effect before I tell my doctor its not working?

ve been able to become almost totally asymptomatic of ulcerative colitis as well by modifying my diet and relieving stress through exercise - these types of lifestyle changes I believe are quite helpful to your immunce system anyway).

My husband diagnosed with chronic ulcerative colitis at age 10 at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston TX. Ultimately this developed into cancer of colon and he had total ileostomy at age 37. Cancer has not returned. However he is diabetic and last year was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis. He was taking remicade by infusion but had to stop that due to his chronic anemia. Which do you have - ulcerative colitis or crohn's? It is important to treat it so it doesn't get bad. I had ulcerative colitis for 10 years before my bowel perforated and I had surgery to remove it and then had an ileal pouch built. My son has severe ulcerative colitis but it is in remission with Imuran. You need to see a different GI doctor.
just checked what a ketogenic diet is, this type of diet is extremely unhealthy and damages livers of any person hbver or not

Any of you ladies have ulcerative colitis & are pregnant? I do! I've been in remission for abt a year & a half and my ob told me to take my meds as needed but I haven't seen a G.I. since I've been pregnant and that'll be 24wks Sunday. I haven't seen one cus there isn't much they'll do while I'm pregnant but I'm fine as long as I'm not having any complications. Anyway, I've always weighed in tha 115-140 range.
I think what u have is ulcerative colitis. The flagella u take for treating amoebiasis temporarily relieves ur diarrhea symptoms.Ulcerative colitis has to be treated with a seperate theraphy. Please consult a gasteroenterologist for further treatment.
My husband had similar problems. Eveytime he goes to our primary care doctor ,he prescribes him flagella which temporarily cures him.It starts up again and again and when we went for colonoscopy he was diagnosed with left sided colitis.
Currently she is a 42 year old female with three kids. At the age of 29 she was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. Treatment was Asacal, ten years, Age 39-40 Asacal + 40 MG Prednisone, age 40-41 Azulfidine + 40 mg Prednisone, age 41- May 2012 Remicade & Azulfidine + 40 mg Prednisone, In May 2012 she had Proctocolectomy with ileostomy in the future once the Prednisone taper is completed.

Other than IBS or spastic colon you could be suffering from Celiac Disease/Ulcerative Colitis/ Crohn’s disease, H pylori infection, diabetes, food intolerance, malabsorption syndromes, constipation, gallbladder and liver problems, pancreatic dysfunction, or taking a diet rich in sulfites. Cancers of the gut and in female ovarian cancer and PCOD too could be a cause—not meant to scare you but if all other causes are ruled out, then this can be a possibility.
