Speaking of the Ketogenic diet - I can find nothing in medical literature or on this site - http://www.aldf.com/lyme-disease/#chronicLymeDisease which would suggest that the ketogenic diet is a way to treat lyme. Granted, there is a lot out there from non medical sources. So you might want to kind of check out that.
Avatar n tn hi any advice much appreciated, i have been previously using Janmut for my diabetics but have run out so i was told Velmetia was the same, while i sent away to CDO for this Velmetia i used Matformin and boy oh boy i got terrible side effects from joint pain to stomach pain to headaches to extreme pain left back shoulder blade pain going from back to my heart, gee that frighten me quite a bit, once i received the Velmetia it worked ok for 1 day then a similar side effect started as previously me

Recommend you look at other ways to help manage your diabetes. Victoza is not for everyone. Eating a low carb diet can also be very helpful in diabetes management. I personally try to eat ketogenic diet. This diet is abundant in meat, eggs, vegetables (except starchy ones), and unprocessed oils.

Avatar m tn If he doesnt switch the meds get a new Doc. Make goals for your epilepsy No seizures, no side effects, live a normal life. It helps to keep your hope up. Also have they talked about doing surgery? If not ask about it. There are also other types of treatment that dont have anything to do with meds. Ask your doc about the Ketogenic diet and see if you might be a good canidate for it. Its a hard diet but if it works its worth it.

Avatar n tn May I suggest you do some research on the Ketogenic Diet. It is a huge lifestyle change, but is totally worth it. Ketogenic lifestyle requires that you cut out almost all carbs. You eat less than 20g of carbs a day, moderate amount of protein 50-100g/day (60-75 is ideal for most people), and 100-150g fat/day. It is a high fat diet that switches your body from using carbs for energy to using fat for energy.
Avatar m tn Hi, there is certainly no harm to be tested for diabetes. All adults should actually undergo annual screening / checks. There are two tests you can start with:- 1. Hba1c (this measures average blood sugar over the past 3 months), and is not fasting test, and 2. Fasting blood glucose. There is also option to get a home glucose meter and test at home after eating.
Avatar f tn It is an insulin sensitizer. Low carb / ketogenic diet combined with metformin can be a great help in managing diabetes. How is your Hba1c? Normal is ideally close to 5.0, but at least try to get lower than 6.0. If your hba1c is high then there can be many complications. Thus getting your blood sugar to normal levels should be first priority. Telmisaran is a drug for high blood pressure. is your BP high? Losing weight and exercise (again low carb / keto diet), may help with this.

Tbd Eat low carb / ketogenic diet. Avoid or strictly sugars, grains, starchy vegetables, and sweet fruits. Use a blood glucose meter to determine the effect of your diet on your blood sugar. This will help you fine tune what foods do and don't affect your blood sugars, and to what degree.
Avatar f tn This is the exact same thing as a Statin without the dangerous side effects. In fact, it is the main ingredient in Lovastatin, but, the labs have not had a chance to ruin it, therefore, it is safe. I would try this and see how it works, it might be the answer you are looking for.
