Avatar m tn Last May, I was diagnosed of Fatty Liver, so I was prescribed to take Godex and Simvastatin. After a month, my blood test rose from 81 U/L to 271 U/L and my SGOT which was previously normal rose to 75 U/L. My intake of simvastatin was immediately stopped due to suspected sensitivity which caused a dramatic liver enzyme elevation. I'm hoping for a decrease in the level of my liver enzymes following the LCD. What bothers me is the Godex. Please advice!

Avatar f tn Clinical studies continue to demonstrate that antioxidants, the amino acid, l-carnitine, and minerals like zinc an selenium help promote sperm motility and concentration. A recent (2007) FertilAid for Men study further substantiates these claims. Avatar f tn A deficiency in zinc, selenium, vitamin B-12, folate and antioxidants has a negative impact on the quality of men’s sperm. L-Carnitine and acetyl-L-Carnitine are believed to increase the motility of sperm, by helping the transformation of fatty acids into energy. Avoid stress, alcohol and smoking. Before taking any medication it is suggested to consult a doctor. This is merely an advice. For more details and queries visit a doctor. Hope it helped. Take care and regards!

1559533 tn?1308948561 Mayo did a study, recently, putting Acetyl L-Carnitine up against Amatadine to study effectiveness in MS fatigue. The Acetyl L-Carnitine came out ahead. Does it work for me? I don't notice a HUGE difference. I've also tried Nuvigil, and it didn't work for me either.
Avatar f tn I don't know the product firsthand. But, I think I've read that L-carnitine works best when taken in conjuntion with L-Arginine and L-Lysine sp? They are amino acids if I remember correct and do help with male fertility. Watch zinc. While it is essential to male fertility, it is stored in the body and can be o'd and serious if is.
Avatar m tn Also, deficiency of lysine intake can lead to acetyl- L-carnitine deficiency. Both L-carnitine and acetyl-L-carnitine play an important role in the metabolism of fats by allowing them to be burned in the mitochondria, thereby releasing energy. Recent studies indicate they also play a role in energy production that occurs outside of fat metabolism.

1926359 tn?1331588139 This can happen because of low carnitine. The answer is taking l-carnitine. This can be prescribed, given by IV or taken over-the-counter. Your carnitine may be low if you don't eat red meat or eat only small amounts of it. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Is it okay to take L-carnitine for leg cramps. Is not going to impair the thyroid hormone?
Avatar f tn I started a new diet regimen and I am taking a lot of supplements. Recently I noticed a chalky taste/smell in my mouth after taking them after a meal. By taking them one at a time throughout the day, I determined that the cause was either my Alpha Lipoic Acid (1200 mg) or my Acetyl L Carnitine (1000 mg). I switched brands for both of those and the problem persisted. Next, I broke the vitamins into two daily doses so that I wouldn’t take them both at the same time.
Avatar f tn If I switch my diet to a low fat, no white carb diet, and continue with the L-Carnitine and also take Milk thistle (helps regenerate healthy liver growth), then I do much better. If I go totally RAW in my diet (only raw fruits and veggies and 12 nuts per day), I will have pain for a while, as it is getting used to spewing fats out of the liver, then no pain once it's back to normal.
Avatar m tn The things that seem to be essential for healthy male reproduction include zinc, l-arginine, l-carnitine, co-enzyme Q10, vitamin c. A lot of the multivits will have these incorporated in them. I think as long as you have a relatively healthy diet and do some exercise thats really all you can do. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn She is on a ketogenic diet to help with the Lyme, so she gets low carbs, no sugar or processed foods, no dyed foods, no grains. I have called her pediatrician and scheduled an appointment to evaluate her, but thought I would ask here as well, because it'll be two weeks before they can see her. Thoughts, insights? Anything specific ringing a belly that I should look deeper into? Is there a connection to children's emotions and lyme, or is this two separate issues?
