Avatar f tn //www.aldf.com/lyme-disease/#chronicLymeDisease which would suggest that the ketogenic diet is a way to treat lyme. Granted, there is a lot out there from non medical sources. So you might want to kind of check out that. In terms of her behavior, the lyme might be causing many of the problems. But, did she have any of these problems before the lyme disease? She does exhibit symptoms of Sensory Processing Disorder (which could have been started by the Lyme).

Avatar n tn Given your current situation and your extremely high blood sugars, if you want to reduce then using diet, then a very low carb diet / ketogenic diet would be the way to go. This diet however, may still not be enough to get your sugars down and you may still need insulin / other meds. Please know that if you eat a ketogenic diet you need to follow it strictly.

She went on a diet very close to Ketogenic strictly for 6 months and then added back some fruit but remained off all sugar, white flour products etc. Just with this diet her tremors went to a minimum and have remained that way. Avatar n tn May I suggest you do some research on the Ketogenic Diet. It is a huge lifestyle change, but is totally worth it. Ketogenic lifestyle requires that you cut out almost all carbs. You eat less than 20g of carbs a day, moderate amount of protein 50-100g/day (60-75 is ideal for most people), and 100-150g fat/day. It is a high fat diet that switches your body from using carbs for energy to using fat for energy.

387767 tn?1345872027 Be sure to discuss all recommended vaccines with your veterinarian. A cat with kidney disease or kidney failure should not be vaccinated at all. Long-term feeding of an all-dry-food diet is also suspected as a factor in Chronic Renal Failure. Cats' kidneys are highly efficient and adapted to life in the desert, where they would get most or all of their water from eating their prey.
Avatar f tn I went from Stage 3 (54% kidney function -GFR) to stage 2 kidney disease (73% function - GFR). I did this by following the kidney diet really closely. It usually doesn't work that good - but it does often help you from getting any worse. I really miss my tomatoes though. They are now a 'special' treat. Stage three is moderate damage. Right in the middle of things. If you are high stage 3 than you may never need dialysis. A lot will depend on you.
Avatar f tn As well if you follow the kidney diet you may be able to keep the numbers the same, slow the progression, or even increase the numbers. I am 37. I was at stage 3 kidney disease. I am now at stage two because I followed the diet. It gives your kidney a break. I bumped a thread called Diet Does Make a Difference. It outlines the kidney diet. I was told that as long as I stayed at stage 3 I could easily make it to my 70's. It is when it gets higher that it is more problematic.
Avatar n tn Hi, I found a link recently which was discussing research on the impact of high protein diets on subjects with and without kidney disease. They concluded that high protein did not cause kidney disease, and neither did it cause most kidney disease to deteriorate.. I will post the link if I can find it again. Controlling BG levels is essential to preventing kidney complications, and has been shown to reverse disease in many cases.
Avatar m tn In patients with chronic kidney disease you need to limit fluids, eat a low-protein diet, restricting salt, potassium, phosphorous, and other electrolytes and at the same time get sufficient calories. Few dietitians specialize in kidney diets. Your dietitian can help you create a diet to fit your needs. There have been few studies which found that low protein diets can delay endā€stage kidney disease. I would advise you to continue with your diet and consult a dietician for more details.
