The treatment for epilepsy is like keto in that it is low carb and limits carbs, but of the carbs allowed, they must be low glycemic and again ... must be done only through a trained doctor (blood work needs to be done frequently). Speaking of the Ketogenic diet - I can find nothing in medical literature or on this site - http://www.aldf.com/lyme-disease/#chronicLymeDisease which would suggest that the ketogenic diet is a way to treat lyme. Granted, there is a lot out there from non medical sources. So you might want to kind of check out that.

Avatar n tn May I suggest you do some research on the Ketogenic Diet. It is a huge lifestyle change, but is totally worth it. Ketogenic lifestyle requires that you cut out almost all carbs. You eat less than 20g of carbs a day, moderate amount of protein 50-100g/day (60-75 is ideal for most people), and 100-150g fat/day. It is a high fat diet that switches your body from using carbs for energy to using fat for energy.
Avatar m tn Irrespective, assuming type 2 diabetes, the treatment will be losing weight if overweight, cutting carbs (particularly sugar, grains, starches - look into low carb / ketogenic diet), exercise, and medications if the previous lifestyle approaches are not sufficient. You can do this.

Additionally, there have been claims that when you combine Hormone Therapy with other types of therapy, the results are improved massively. This is because hormone therapy halts the growth, so any therpay designed to kill cancer has a much easier job.

The ketogenic diet (an extremely low carb diet, only to be undertaken with physician approval and supervision) can help some people with seizures, but is typically tried only after several different meds have failed to provide relief.
