Common Questions and Answers about Kapidex medicine

kapidex

Avatar n tn I took a free trial of it for 10 days, during which time I helped, but then went back off of it for a week (trying a different, cheaper medicine) before going back on it. But after being back on Kapidex for a few days I got sick - nausea, some diarrhea and severe loss of appetite for most of the day. I spent the weekend in bed, thinking I was just sick, but now it's Thursday and I still have the nausea and very little appetite.
Avatar f tn The best medicine I have tried for gastroparesis is Domperidone. The FDA doesn't approve of it. Many/most GI doctors do. Try to get a prescription from a GI doctor and you can then purchase the product in Canada. You cant get it at some compounding pharmacies in some states in the US, but the prices are 3 times the Canadian prices. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Went to my Dr and she said it was Gastritis and put me on Kapidex 2x a day for 3 days and then once a day thereafter. The next day my lower back has starting hurting. I went in on Tuesday for pain in the back and she prescribed naxoprene and a muscle relaxer. The pain went away once from the pain medicine and now does nothing. I've been having bouts of diarrhea and then constipation also. Today my back pain is excrutiating and the past two days my stools have been dark brown/black.
Avatar m tn Also, I recently heard about Kapidex. Is this significantly better than the others out there (including the Nexium I am on) or should I stick with the Nexium?
Avatar n tn thanks. iv tried every medicine there is to try. im currently on kapidex. it has helped with the acid but the pain is still there. they told me i have a motility issue. iv lost so much weight because its hard to eat any food. it is basically ruining my marriage because he can not understand what is actually going on. he has been there for me but i think he is getting tired.
Avatar m tn They found that i have a hiatial hernia as well as a weak les sphincter. Anyways my GI doctor put me on kapidex after followup. I prefer kapidex to protonix and i was doing pretty good until this morning when i had a random bout of nausea. Luckily i had some phenegren left so i took it and got better. I have already bought the special pillow that raises my head while sleeping and i think has really helped me.
Avatar n tn i have been diagnosed with gerd and a hiata hernia i am a black female 5ft2 and 233 pounds i have been on five different prescriptions currently i am on 60 mg of kapidex i have been losing weight and losing my appetite sometimes the kapidex gives me relief sometimes it doesn't what can i do for relief when it doesn't work? and how far can acid reflux travel.
Avatar f tn Said I was still swollen quite a bit and the issues would subside when the swelling went down, which could take 6 months or more to get me back to normal. Prescribed a kapidex per day and 300 mgs zantac.....I have to watch EVERYTHING I eat.....anything scratchy iritates my esoph, plus I sometimes feel like it's swollen in there........agree? Should I get a second opinion?
Avatar n tn Long story short - I was diagnosed with GERD 6mos ago. I was having pain in my chest which was determined to be esophageal spasms. Protonix worked at first, now I am on it twice a day and still have esophageal spasms. They are getting stronger and the duration has doubled since April. My 'smooth muscle' medicine is no longer working and I reflux everytime I eat, sometime two to three hours after I eat.
Avatar n tn Hi, I was also diagnosed with the same thing and my Dr gave me Kapidex which is similar to Nexium. After 2 days on the pill, I starting having side effects of diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting for almost 3 days. They then switched me to Protonix which I am glad to say is working very well. So like CalGal said, it works differently with different people. Your daughter just needs to find one that works best for her. Good Luck!
666921 tn?1254990618 I do know that the LLMD prescribed me Kapidex and it may one of the reasons I am not having heartburn. Usually these medicines give me bad gastric problems, but so far it's been not great, but not painful either. You may want to ask if you can get Kapidex.
Avatar n tn I switched to taking tums multiple times a day, which worked for a couple months and then stopped. I tried Kapidex which also worked perfectly for about 3 months and then completely stopped working. Zantac worked for about a month and is now subsiding. My doctor has added carafate, but the pains are still not gone. They usually come when I haven't eaten for a while and let myself get hungry at all. I try to eat every 2-3 hours but am not always able to.
Avatar f tn I am afraid to eat other things. What an I do. I am taking Kapidex and take giner tea. I also take anxiety meds just because of this feelings in my throat.
Avatar m tn Could be some gall bladder pain, dont eat late stick to low fat meals , it could also be a pulled muscle if you have started weight training ..
Avatar f tn I have had Gerd for so many years I lost track, but do remember going into the Dr. because it felt like I was on fire inside. This was back in 1996. Upper GI and colonoscopy said gastritis and Duodenitis. I was negative for H. Pylori. Dr. said Gerd. It is under control as long as I take the meds. If I skip one dose, I know it by evening time. My question is, Does anyone ever make a full recovery, because I don't see an end in sight to taking this medicine.
Avatar n tn I have tried prevacid, nexium, and kapidex. I still have the constant burning in chest and lump in throat feeling?
Avatar f tn I have been on that but it didn't work that great after a while. Kapidex or previcid works. Liquid carafete helps to.
Avatar m tn Thanks Selma I am taking Kapidex 60mg, I was taking previously prev acid once in the morning and once at night didnt work, then I wnt with Protonix, Kapidex is supposed to be a new med but doesnt seem to work. the dr says I may have a very sensitive esophagus that is why I feel everthing all the time. Is there such a thing as having a sensitive esopahgus that feels everything without the damage?
Avatar n tn In order to fight possible acid reflux – I’ve tried zantac, carofate, prevacid and kapidex. – none of which seem to help. I’ve taken anti-inflammatory medicine and rest in case the pain was caused by costochondritis or tietze syndrome. I’ve seen chiropractors to see if the pain was due to back trouble. The thorasic region of my back is in bad shape and I do have constant pain in my upper back to go along with the chest pain.
1243333 tn?1296446902 5 years ago I was diagnosed with GERD, about a year ago, had a endoscopic procedure where they dilated the esophagus and I just had it dilated again, have been told that I have serve esophagitis and gastritis, I take kapidex 60mg twice a day along with Carafate and reglan, could the Gerd be what is causing the esophagus to narrow and what other complications could I end up with if this continues. At this point I always have a sore throat. and the medications only keep the reflux at bay.
Avatar m tn The doctor suggested this could be a form of anxiety attack and prescribe xanax to take during episodes and also kapidex to see if it affected the heartburn symptoms. I have noticed little change with the use of these medications. Despite the good EKG, the doctor referred me to a cardiologist to make sure there was no heart issue. Another EKG was performed and came back without issue... they also used an ultrasound to look at my heart and everything looked healthy.
Avatar n tn , What your going to have to do is as doctor for some nerve medicine, or try to relax and train your mind not to think about this during eating. I drink warm Chamomile tea before meals, but not during.
Avatar m tn I am a 43 year old female who has noticed a change in my voice since July. It sounds gruff sometimes especially when I'm trying to talk low and it cracks. I went to an ENT in September concerned I might have some type of throat cancer. Especially since Michael Douglas came out saying he had it and was hoarse. The ENT said I was not at high risk because I don't smoke or drink but since I was so concerned he looked at my throat and voice box with a scope.
Avatar m tn The medications that I take for my stomach are , Kapidex, Carafate , Bentyl and I recently purchased Alkaline drops online. Avatar f tn Hi- I have taken Zegerid and found it to be the best of GERD/acid-reflux med's. They all do take some time, but for me it's the best by a good margin, with Kapidex/Prevacid second. My insurance co. doesn't cover Zegerid as well as they cover Prevacid, but my doctor calls it the "Rolls Royce" of stomach meds.
1285120 tn?1273751607 I have a few stomach conditions, GERD, ESOPHOGITIS,LACTOSE INTOLERANCE AND IBS. I take Kapidex , Bentyl and Carafate. I am also using alkaline drops for acid reflux. Oh and don't let me forget I've been blessed with a Hiatal Hernia too !!! I am Irish hence the sarcasm and I used to be an alcoholic. Let me carry on LOL, I also take alot of other prescribed medications that have stomach upset side effects. My God is there a end to this crap ?
Avatar n tn So the regiment is Kapidex (60 mgs. daily), Zantac (300 mgs. daily) and the Carafate. Hope it works. Will speak to her next week about the tests you mentioned. Thanks for your suggestions!
