I have pain in the lower right jaw around where the jaw curves close to, but below, the ear. I recently went to the dentist and xrays showed no problems, and there is no tooth pain. I do not have my tonsils and my glands are not swollen. Are there nerves that feed through this area? I can't understand why this pain is here. It seems to go away for a few days but then comes back without cause.
Very tender to the touch. Do you have any idea what I can do or who I should see for this problem?
Pain in this area always alerts a physician to first check the Gallbladder. The Gallbladder also refers pain to the right shoulder. If the shoulder and jaw pain was on the LEFT side of the body, the heart and cardiovascular system should be evaluated and clinical correlation is required. Other less likely considerations would be accute myocardial infarction, gas, indigestion, intercostal neuritis, and diverticulitis.
I was staring down at my hands, saying right, left, right, left, however I soon realized I was wrong, as my wedding ring was tipping me off. I was reversed still. I got home, and my husband said raise your left hand, and again, I raised my right. Hours later, I was no longer having this problem. Whether or not this was some fluke, or related to WHATEVER is happening to my body, it was so eye opening and strange. Just wondered if this is common or completely off in left field?

I have had pain in the left joint of my jaw for years now. As far as I can remember I have not been knocked in that area. The area of pain can stretch from the lower jaw area right up to my ear and can even give me neck pain. It causes pain when I open my mouth wide and always feels like the bones are 'clicking' and 'clunking' out of place. I have had phisio on the joint but that is only a stretch of the muscle and the pan is always present.
A couple days ago, I was chewing a lot of gum. yesterday, i noticed my left jaw (lower) was aching a little. today it is aching still, slightly more. still not too bad.
anyway, i googled the symptom. it's apparently a warning sign for a heart attack. so pretty scared it's almost 1 am. should i rush out to the ER?

Regarding left jaw and neck- you'll want to make sure you don't have a heart issue, as pain can refer to these areas from the heart. And you may want to get a doppler of your carotid, to make sure it is fully patent.
Also, you might go to a dentist specializing in TMJ disorders or a maxillofacial specialist, because a problem with the jaw is strongly suspect with headache on the side with jaw pain. Do you clench or grind your teeth when you sleep?
My husband has pain on the right side of his jaw (upper) and when he get this pain he also get's headache and pain behind my right eye. This has been going on for years. Sometimes it's on his left sidebut notas severe. He has seen a Neurologist intoronto for Tramilgia Neuraligia andthat was ruled out. then he seen another specialist for TMJ and that was rules out...help....
Over a year ago I noticed a lump right side of face infront of my ear with jaw pain this has progressed over time now the right side of my face doesnt look in proportion with left (slightly swollen) pulsetile tinnitus right ear random burning sensations in the left & on head funny taste in mouth dizzy spells where sometimes the floor moves I've also started biting my tongue by accident when talking doctors say There Is nothing wrong with my face I am on the verge of paying private am I
Sometimes it is so bad that it is difficult to eat. When I grab the left side of my jaw and slide it right, the right side/TMJ hurts in the same way as it does when i bite down. Pushing the jaw the other way produces no pain.
I am concerned because I also have a funny "feeling" in my right ear that has accompanied this jaw pain. My ear canal feels "cool" and like there is liquid or wax in it, but when I put my finger in it, there is nothing.
I have been wearing bite guard for last year and it got better but started hurting again this week really bad and having spasms in jaw and now my neck is killing me on the left side. Pain is going up the left side of neck and down left shoulder into arm. Have not had chance to go to doctor yet but am wondering if anyone with cervical disc problems has ever had it to affect temple and jaw area of face??? Am thinking maybe this isn't TMJ at all....
Just a few days ago I noticed a bruised feeling pain in my left temple. It only hurts when I touch it but it's a very sharp, intense pain. I have been experiencing migraines/headaches for the last week and they've been coming on and off in one week cycles. I looked into TMJ but I don't have any of the jaw ache, clicking, popping, etc. symptoms, therefore I don't believe it is TMJ. Could anyone help?
In additional to all of my other issues post baby, I am hav developed random shooting pain in my jaw. no chest or arm pain.....i went to my dentiist who thinks I am clenching...and apparently on the same side there is nerve damage to one of my teeth. could this be all it is?!? i am also getting panic attacks with post partum anxiety so am nervous this could all be my heart. i am a 29 year old healthy female, 2 babies....
