Common Questions and Answers about Janumet generic alternatives

janumet

Avatar n tn My husband was recently diagnosed with type II diabetes. His doctor has prescibed janumet. In reading about the drug I've found info stating that "one should not consume excessive alcohol" and also "one should avoid alcohol". My husband drinks at least one glass of wine/beer a day with more on weekends. I'm confused as to what excesive means or if he is suppose to avoid alcohol totally. Any information would be appreciated.

1475202 tn?1536270977 Yes, thank you Randy. I just got my first refill of the generic. It's not a tremendous savings but, every little bit helps in this economy. And I seem to be doing just fine on the generic.
Avatar m tn I went on metformin 1g, no change after three months. went up to two grams and was so nauseus for weeks, changed to janumet 1g. My sugars are still up around 15 every day, and my hand still hasnt stopped twitching. I get it all over my body randomly, but always in my hand. It doesn't hurt but is irritating and my hand is sore from overworking. My dr said this was a diabetes issue but I have never heard of it before among other sufferers, and he just brushes it away when I mention it.

Avatar f tn Is there a drug that works as well as Wellbutrin. If not what is the highest dosage that is recommended in taking Wellbutrin. Also research and several people have compared generic brand wellbutrin and brand that is is a different reaction to each person, is this true.
446049 tn?1649005835 //diabetes.org/health-wellness/medication/oral-other-injectable-diabetes-medications This is a good article (copy and paste) that lists ALL options. This as well https://www.goodrx.com/metformin/metformin-alternatives-for-diabetes. I take it you were on a generic metformin? Was it a different maker each time? My pharmacy switched a medication month to month of a med I take for a chronic condition and I noticed new side effects each time.
Avatar n tn Thanks for your response. I have type 2. My last HA1c was 8.1 and I am now using Janumet. I do suppose a dietitian is the right way to go. Thanks again.
Avatar m tn What is the difference between Tirosint and all the other levothyroxine meds? I am exploring different options, even generic, as long as it works!
446049 tn?1649005835 Interesting. Since you are on a generic, what about trying a different one (maybe even the one you were on before)? If that does't work, there are metformin alternatives. Unfortunately, there are those that don't tolerate Metformin. But the effect of the drug is necessary so finding an alternative is so important. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/323128 This article goes into some alternatives. There ARE options!
Avatar n tn As an alternative to vagifem, you can get prescribed estring. The other alternatives are creams--Premarin and Estrace vaginal creams but use them under prescription. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn Are there any less toxic drug alternatives for controlling heart arrythmias (specifically PVCs) than amiodarone?
11444957 tn?1442981892 What are some natural alternatives for treating period pain?? I am it a very big fan of using pills if I do not know exactly what is inside them.
541196 tn?1293552936 My endocrinolgist ordered a MRI with Contrast on my brain for the possiblity of a prolactin secreeting pituitary tumor or something similar. I am type II diabetic and take Janumet. I think I remember reading in the side effects, warnings and uses pamphlet that there were some tests, proceedures and surgeries which you shouldn't have while on the medication. How long should I be off the medication before and after the MRI? Are there any other things I should consider before the test?
1047147 tn?1328906154 My RE prescribed prenatal vitamins and Expecta (DHA). The prenatal vitamins are free at most pharmacies and the Expectra is around $12/13. Your RE may have prescribed you a brand name one that doesn't have a generic? My pharmacist was helpful with trying to suggest alternatives that saved me money. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I have been taking synthroid ( generic and brand) for over ten years. All of a sudden I have itching all over my body about 5 hours after taking it. I know it is related to the synthroid because if I skip a day or two I don't itch. My doctor and my allergist don't think it's the synthroid. Don't know what to do. I know I have to take it for life. I wasn't offered any alternatives except for taking 50 mug tabs because they don't have the dye.
Avatar n tn Research has brought up two alternatives, both combinations of t4/T3 called Euthyral or Novothyral. Has anyone heard of them? Bigger question, can anyone at all, private message me, with a way to order through an online pharmacy? I fought too hard to feel normal, to return to generic medications that will make me ill.
Avatar m tn I figured why waste $125 to have the doc tell me what I knew already - Acid Reflux, take my h2 blocker, watch what I eat and lose weight. I did try switching from my 2x a day generic Pepcid ac to 1 a day Prilosec OTC for 21 days, but didn't get any help from that, even combining Prilosec with Pepcid. Over the next couple of months the pain grew in intensity and duration. I finally made an appointment and saw the doc last week.
Avatar n tn Plus you could discuss changing meds. BTW There is a combination pill Janumet that c ombines Metformin and Januvia. This may be helpful to you as well.
Avatar m tn We completely understand your situation but you have probably noticed that content of answers at our expert forum is educational not promotional. Therefore, we try not to mention any brand names, but only generic names of drugs and names of certain ingredients when we write about cosmeceuticals and cosmetic products. There are quite a few men cosmetic lines on the market. You can easily google them under ‘men cosmetic products’ or men cosmetic products reviews’, etc.
Avatar f tn I thought I had to vomit, but when I intentionally tried to vomit, nothing happened. I have type 2 diabetes and currently take Janumet twice a day. Could this have been low blood sugar, or high blood sugar?
Avatar f tn I take it because of anxiety, heart rate goes up quickly and stays there for a while. I would like to try alternatives (like Mg and Vit Bs) but they don't go well with the beta blocker, so I should stop it. My question is: has any of you wean off 2.5mg of Bisoprolol? I believe it is not a big dose, but still afraid ofwean off symptoms.
Avatar f tn he is on an oral medication for the type 2 the med is Janumet. His blood sugar is controlled and his doctor said hes doing good on it my question is could this problem lessen his chances for svr? any info is appreciated. Wishing you all on treatment SVR!!!
Avatar f tn ahhh, I saw the "generic pills at night" and I thought generic narcotic. Now I am confused, Are the generics pills you are referring to a narcotic, and then you take the tylenol PM, or are they generic tylenol pm's?
