Avatar m tn m am wondering about holding the push up position for increasing lengths of time, for instance. Any other suggestions for keeping muscle tone in the upper body?
Avatar n tn You should get in touch with your neuroendocrinologist. A decrease in normal body temperature can be associated with, amongst other things, diabetes and hypothyroidism. Since your pituitary is not functioning, your endocrinologist should be closely monitoring all the hormones affected by the lack of function of the pituitary (sometimes known as the master gland). See private message for other causes of decreased body temperature.
Avatar f tn At least 6 week's and longer if you had a C-section! Give yourself time to heal, your belly will tone up with time - speaking from experience!
277836 tn?1359666174 Glad to see you are still hanging in there :) And, it's always nice of you to pop in and tell us how you are doing. Keep on keeping on, and like Rendean says, treatment can work with the right doctor. Keep talking to then until you conquer this - I know you can do it! We believe in you - You just need to believe in you :) Keep on hanging in there, and do your best w/what you are dealing with. It's all you can do sometimes.
Avatar m tn I also experience muscle spasms all over body, cracking all over body most notably in neck, numbness in hands/legs when lying down or sleeping which goes away after movement. Occasional light headed feeling, occasional pain throughout body, and just a general feeling of being unwell. This all started 6 months ago after an episode after leaving the gym and got into my car on a hot summer day and all of the sudden it was like a shock to my system I got out layed down on the grass and vomited.
Avatar f tn In general we ask children with bicuspid aortic valves and aortic regurgitation that is more than mild to refrain from weight lifting, wrestling, football, and isometric activities where they are straining their upper body. This may include some gymnastic activities. You are already aware of the contact restrictions when the aorta is dilated. You should discuss this further with your child's cardiologist.
Avatar n tn We know that the transmission of the pulse wave of blood down the aorta after coarctation repair (and especially with a stent in place) is abnormal, making the aorta seem somewhat more stiff. We also think that isometric activity in patients with coarctation with persistent hypertension is not good. Overall, as you state, the amount of static, or isometric, activity needed to pitch is low, so that's probably fine.
Avatar f tn A high heart rate and low blood pressure is common in cases of shock, when the blood vessels are widely dilated, increasing body capacitance. In such a case the dilation (widining of the interior diameters) could be due to septicemia,or a generalized infection. An idiopathic tachcardia could be due to a malfunction in the atrial pacemaker node. But even so the blood pressure should be higher unless the heart is not functioning optimally.
Avatar f tn Do not expect any drastic changes in the echo in 6 months time. Your doctor will be follwing the size and function of the left ventricle as your child grows. Finally, isometric sports, like weight lifting, wrestling and football are NOT to be encouraged in this situation, as it can worsen valve leakage.
Avatar m tn She is 19 and a collegeant basketball player. She was stellar in the stress test . . . the only problem was this one. She came in for a cardiac visit because she has had periodic pain in her chest and brief periods of rapid heart beats (seemingly unassociated with exercise). The doctor recommended no high impact excercise, or sports that were high contact (she is not playing football) or those with lots of stopping and starting.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am a 36 year old female with mild to moderate Aortic insufficiency and osteogensis imperfecta. I have been followed for 10 years with no changes in heart functions or leaking noted. I am interested in learning if any types of exercises should be avoided. I currently swim and was going to add sit ups but was concerned about doing isometric exercises ! Is this a valid concern ?
Avatar f tn If it hurts to move your leg against gravity, you can begin by doing simple isometric contractions which do not require you to move your leg. i fthe pain persists for more than another week or so, then you really should see your doctor.
Avatar n tn Still, these exercises, such as lifting and lowering the leg from the knee while sitting in a chair, are gentle and use your own body weight to create resistance, which makes them a perfect workout for those with arthritis. Again, work with a physical therapist or medical professional to choose the best exercises for your particular situation. An exercise routine that can be done anytime, anywhere, alone, or with a group? Walking might be a perfect match.
Avatar m tn what part of her body is failing? I think that without more info it would be a little hard to weigh in on what you could do to help her ....try to give us as much info as your can.....is she at home? is she in the hospital? are her only issues the heart? what was she diagnosed with? how old is she? i think the more info the better.....
Avatar n tn Maybe it's your bed or your pillow. If you aren't sleeping in a position that keeps you aligned, you might pinch the nerves in your shoulder. I used to have this problem. I got so sick of it, I saved for a while then bought a Sleep Number bed. I haven't had the problem since then. Feel better!
Avatar f tn Is it normal for contractions to get really close to gather for hours then slowly become further apart then slowly go back to being close togather? All night from 10 to 5 Am they where 10 min apart then slowly. Got far apart now at 30 min and getting shorter.
Avatar m tn s the facts..... Pre-acccident body temp normally hung around 99.1-99.3. High but normal for me. Constantly kept body weight healthy and averaged around 220. Built very strong and muscular. Post accident.... Body temp 95.2-96.2, very hard to loose weight. I was laid up for 3 months and gained 40-50lbs. Since then very hard for me to loose anything. Went and had a physical done, everything within norms. That being said not sure on my thyroid hormone level, but within normals of this physician.
Avatar f tn So there I am trying to act normal and not faint. I know the man knew something was wrong as he looked at me so odd. Anyway I recovered enough to go get in car and lay back until I felt better. I don't like to tell people I am feeling faint as they over react. I am getting to point I am almost afraid to do anything. Don't know what I am asking really mostly venting I guess. Anyone else go through these feelings and found how to cope?
1596835 tn?1297347668 was suffering from hole in the heart and because of that the pumping of heart was not functioning well.Because of that the blood circulation in his body stops or pumping very less than the normal way.By these way the lungs also got damaged and doctors said that if we do "Open Heart Surgery" he can be saved and Surgery was done and replaced with some kind of Artificial organ...but its of no use, when the kid as taken to hospital for check up.
Avatar f tn Most likely cause of this twitching with weakness/atrophy of muscle can be when the nerve supplying to body muscles are not functioning properly due to any neurological disorder. If you suffer continuous weakness and notice reduced strength of muscle bulk in areas, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here. Hope this information proves helpful to you. Take Care & Regards!!!
Avatar m tn When this happens, I feel extreme weakness, in my body(feel like low BP) and also get a bad dream in my mind, that I had seen sometime in the past in sleep. All this happens when I am conscious and doing something. After around a minute or 2 I get back to normal. But it is very severe, and worries me a lot. Am I having a medical condition?
1550886 tn?1306206745 As soon as swallowing stops, the LES closes to keep the food in the stomach. A normally functioning LES prevents food and stomach acid from backing up into the esophagus. All other reports are normal but the LES is lax (decreased tone) resulting in reflus and burning pain. The treatment is medical initially and suits to most but surgical lastly, if not treatable medically. All the best.
Avatar m tn If the heart was functioning with no heart wall damage, the EF may be increased with exercise and medication. The prior lower than normal EF may be the result of heart cells functioning with lower tnan normal oxygen and good blood flow to the heart cells with a bypass can revitalize the myocyte cells. Thanks for your question, and if you have any further questions or comments you are welcome to respond.
Avatar f tn No that happened to me when my body was ready to go in labor..
Avatar f tn I will be 32 weeks on Thursday and I have been feeling braxton hicks contractions for almost a month, but normally in a first pregnancy you feel them but dont register it in your mind because it is something your body tells you is normal. I wouldnt worry about it to much.
