I had a hysterectomy in October 2009, I was put on the vivelle-dot patch. I'm on the lowest dose (0.05mg). I change the patch twice a week. I had my yearly mamogram (which has always been normal). I picked up the report today and it says: Findings: Dense and hetergenous breast parenchyma is again observed with minor asymmetry.

Could this be caused by the patch losing effectiveness before the week is up? Would switching to Vivelle Dot, which has a twice a week schedule, help prevent the bleeding?

I'm almost 60 years old and have been experiencing severe hot flashes for years. A couple years ago I was put on 0.05mg Vivelle-dot patches. I'm still having the flashes. My forehead, especially, sweats a lot wetting my bangs completely! Would going on a higher dose of Vivelle stop the hot flashes? I want to keep on bioidentical-type remedies and wondered if something else included/instead of would do the trick. I'd greatly appreciate help!

only they took it all..I have a lot of good to say about estrogen replacement//Im on the vivelle dot which is a patch that you apply 2 times per week. its increased my happiness, Im not hot flashing and not a basket case of nerves...ask your doc about it..

thanks for your imput, I was on estrace but caused a rash so he had me get on Vivelle dot patched, what is timed bd ? and which meds did you not use ?

Or, you may want to think about something completely different like the Vivelle Dot patch. This is something your Dr will have to prescribe just like your Estrace pills.

Hi! I agree with Mary regarding the possiblity of adding a little progesterone to your regimen. I'm also on the vivelle dot patch (.075 strength) and have just recently 50 mg of progesterone (which I take orally, but many prefer to use as a cream or gel transdermally). I'd ask your doctor about adding some progesterone to your regimen. Just my thought :-) Good luck!

wake up all the time with hot flashes/freezing the next minute and anxious all the time which is just the oddest feeling and all the other things that go along with Meno...great isnt it...NOT! At least we arent alone in this and millions of woman are going through it.Very exhausting it is.

Hi Carol - I saw one of your posts regarding the V-Dot..I am on the V-Dot since my surgery in May. I had gallbladder removed by laproscopic and then an abdominal vertical incision to remove 2 large masses 12cm and 10cm. I ended up with a full hysterectomy at 40. Unfortunately I ended up having to go back in for emergency surgery a week after for a ruptured bowel and because I was cut 2x in the same week i needed a wound vac for almost 3 weeks to help heal the wound.

Hi, I'm on a HRT (Vivelle-Dot) but I'm also a limbolander, but I might be of some help. I was put on Vivelle-Dot after loosing all my hormones due to a hysterectomy. Both Vivelle-Dot and Climara seem to contain estradiol (a form of estrogen bioidentical to your body's own). In the summer, I have been on this med for a year. I was put on this med right after my last form of hormone was removed (which was one ovary by this point).

So the only thing we have in common is the prenatals, I blame them too then.

Hi There, I had a total hyst/ovaries/appendectomy on Oct 15th. I started hormones last week and they put me on the vivelle dot patch. I put a patch (0.1mg) on every Monday morning and change it on Thurs night to a new patch. Sometimes they have to tweak the dose as a person might need more in the beginning. That seems to be the case for me. The NP at my gyn/oncs office yesterday told me to change the patch after 2 days for now to see how I do.

Girls - I know I should maybe post this elsewhere but since you guys are my friends and know so much I was just wondering if anyone here that is on the vivelle-dot patch have any side effects from it..for 2 days I have this drawing pain in my upper thigh...it is more of a nuisance than a real terrible pain...I always worry about blood clots..I took my patch off just in case for a few hours but had to put it on due to the hot flashes ...I am hoping this is nothing but I am worried..

I had a complete hysterectomy 5 1/2 years ago at the age of 35 for a borderline serous tumor in one of my ovaries. I have been on the vivelle dot .1mg patch for several years with no problems. Lately, I have been having symptoms of low estrogen like hot flashes. Unfortunately, my gyn oncologist has retired so I have been seeing my regular ob for my yearly follow up.

I have been using the estrogen patch (Vivelle dot .1) since my surgery and have had no problems with hot flashes. However, for the past 8 months I having been getting hot flashes every now and then. Is this normal? When I mentioned it to my doctor, he just said I was already taking the highest dose the patch comes in and didn't like the idea of me using the oral kind. I'm just wondering why this would start after so many years and if anyone else has experienced this.

5 mg - I used to use Vivelle Dot .05, but my body stopped absorbing it, so I changed to the oral type) and a compounded bioidentical progesterone cream (1 mg. dose, although I use less, made at a compounding pharmacy) that I rub on to my wrist or upper arm or stomach (I move it around so my skin doesn't build up resistence to it). I have hormone testing annually to make sure my balances are right. I feel good on this regimen. How have things been going for you?

Would it help to overlap the tone I put one on and take the old one off. Clearly the rise and fall of estrogen is the trigger. What’s the best solution? I’ve considered just stopping then completely but my dr thinks I’m too young... Any helpful suggestions would be so appreciated! Thanks!

Hi, Just had TAH and was wondering just how long would the huge abdominal bloating last??? I know everyone is different, but does anyone have a "guestimate"?? Also, was started on Vivelle Dot and have been reading alot about needing progesterone, my doc says no, what do you all think??

Mayfly, It is so hard to say if the patch of Vivelle caused the weight gain. This is such a complicated subject. I am wondering if your body was making Estrogen in the form of Estrone (which is the 'menopause' estrogen that is made as a by-product from the fat in our system... and this fat is what causes the fat around our middle section so that it is readily available for use by the body since women's bodies crave estrogen)...

Oh great one of the side effects of vivelle dot patch is back ache,,that explains my lower back pain,,,it did happen after going on vivelle,but i am thinking clearer maybe it willl go away

just my personal opinion only but Im leary of Premarine...its the oldest hormone treatment also I kinda think the method of how it is made is rather discusting...its from the urine of a pregnant horse,,,IDK many women have succes with it, as I say just my personal thought. Also you may not need hormones for life...most dont I used Vivelle dot (patch) for a year...then experimented stopped and my symptoms were gone so I stopped using it. Have a great day at work...

must be hormonal related which can be frustrating but can be fixed..I am personally a fan of the vivelle dot..its a patch used 2 x per week its helped me alot..its also suposed to be good for preventing bone density loss...I find your situation intersting..let me know how it goes...best wishes and happy new year !!!
