Is spiriva good

Common Questions and Answers about Is spiriva good

spiriva

Avatar n tn I use Duoneb and Mucomyst in a nebulizer. Additionall I use natural antiinflammatories and an anti-histamine. I do not use any inhaled steroids as they caused bronchitis and sticky phlegm. They also caused adrenal fatigue and, after using that poison for eight years, I suffered a broken hip. Steroids cause osteoporosis, cataracts, and wreck your immune system. I am thinking of adding Spiriva inasmuch as Mucomyst has solved the mucus problem.
Avatar n tn Spiriva (titropium) is a inhaled antihistamine indicated for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) including emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Antihistamines frequently cause dry mouth and dry sinuses (benadryl is an antihistamine). The side effect is not considered serious, but you should call your physician if it continues. A saline nasal spray can moisturize the sinuses and possibly reduce the symptoms.
Avatar n tn If you are taking Duoneb there is no point in taking Spiriva because Spiriva is related to the ipratropium that is a consitituant of Duoneb. Also Spiriva is extremely drying which may be why you are feeling so uncomfortable. To be using Duoneb five or six times a day you would have to be close to death. Obviously you aren't, so you can cut back without any problem. I have serious COPD and my use of Duoneb averages 3.5 vials daily. The big question is - how bad is your COPD?
Avatar f tn after checking, this bladder problem is a side effect of Spiriva...I had used Spiriva for over a year and the infections/non-infections got more frequent until I had to go to the urologist...I was on Azo Standard most of the time. I alerted my pulmonologist as to my problem and he took me off the Spiriva. Since being off the Spiriva, my breathing has gotten worse....my Dr said there was no replacement for Spiriva...I'm writing to find out what others might know.
Avatar n tn I've been using Spiriva nearly 10 years and this year my PSA results spiked from less than 1 to above 6. Where did you get your info regarding the statistics on prostate cancer, as I would much like to study it.
Avatar m tn Spiriva is extremely drying and it will make for thick mucus that is hard to cough up. Advair is also drying and I note that your extremely high dose of that inhaled steroid is not generally recommended. I got rid of Spiriva because it was drying. It didn't help anyway. I got rid of Advair because I developed adrenal fatigue, osteoporosis, and it gave me a hacking cough which exhausted me and could not have been good for my lungs.
Avatar n tn Common COPD inhalers that contain steroids are Advair, Symbicort, Breo and Dulera.
Avatar f tn Yes! Spiriva is a long acting 24 hour broncho-dialator. So this means it will dialate your airway, make it bigger so air can pass thru it easier. Adviar: is a cortico-steriod. This means it is a anti-inflammatory type med that will take the inflammed part and calm it down. These are two very different medications. one holds it open and the other calms down the inflammed parts.
Avatar f tn Then, financially l could not afford the Spiriva. So, I eventually stopped taking that. I did still take the ProAir, which is a rescue inhaler. That started causing me problems. Now, I am on Proventil. I have read many reports on Advair and ProAir. Many people have problems with these 2 meds. There are programs through pharmacy companies that do supply people like us meds. One such program is Needy Meds. I though attempted to get the Spiriva through such a program.
Avatar n tn I was told that one of these breathers cannot be used with Proventil. Please tell me if it is Advair or Spiriva. I can't remember which one the doctor told me.
Avatar f tn ordered a pft last week (following three ct scans over 16 months). I had been using Spiriva for three years. My question is how long should I have been off the Spiriva for the test to show accurate results? Shouldn't I have had the test before being given Spiriva? Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn Spiriva is very gritty and irritating. Also it is very drying. I stopped using it. And I got off all inhaled steroids because of the serious problems they caused. Now I use only natural anti-inflammatories and am all the better for it (as well as richer). By the way, my COPD is as bad as yours. I was taking acetylcysteine (Mucomyst) by nebulizer for congestion. This is not always available so I had to make do in some other fashion.
Avatar m tn I currently take advair and Spiriva medication.. is this the one and only mediacation, since there are no genericand here in the united states unlike the rest of the world which has a free market, we are controlled by the drug industry.
Avatar f tn I am currently using Spiriva HandiHaler which I believe is not suppose to have any steroids but I keep getting Thrush in my mouth ! It is a constant problem even just using the Duoneb, and especially if I have to take any antibiotics. I'm, constantly having to take Fluconazole tablets after a round of antibiotics for candidiasis under my breasts and in my mouth. I always rinse my mouth after any inhalers or the spriva handihaler either with water or mouthwash. Usually both.
Avatar f tn If people need their inhalers and they help, then I am all for it. It is a personal choice. As for me, they can keep Advair and Spiriva. Caused me nothing but problems, too. I hope you continue to feel better.
Avatar n tn P.S. Albuterol, if you are using it, is drying. That is another reason for using a mucolytic. I use an albuterol combination in a nebulizer. I can't do without it, but the B5 reverses the drying.
Avatar n tn does spiriva or alvesco cause acid reflux? This discussion is related to Asthmatic bronchitis, how long does it usually last? Could I have something else?.
Avatar n tn Yes, there are. Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) is one and Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) another. Each is a bronchodilator and capable of giving good relief of shortness of breath.

Avatar f tn At my six-monthly checkup at my local hospital here in Spain there was a replacement doctor and since he was young I thought he might be willing to hear why I was not taking spiriva and steroids. He confirmed that a person with severe COPD MUST use these medicines. But - I objected - they do not cure, they’re only supposed to make you feel a little better and have nasty adverse effects.
Avatar m tn Is it possible to be misdiagnosed with COPD if person is recovering from a "chest cold" at time of the X-Ray?
Avatar m tn I use Albuterol, SPIRIVA and ADVAIR to control Asthma & COPD. I also take CRESTOR for cholesterol and ADVIL for arthritis. In the last month (after starting SPIRIVA), when I first wake up in the morning, my eyes "roll" from right to left in an arcing motion when I attempt to focus on something. After a few attempts to focus on an object (the clock on the clock radio), the movement stops and I'm fine. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn I'm still having these same symptoms. Can someone please give me any ideas or suggestions. I know one of the suggestions would be to see my dr. but I can't really afford it right now. I feel so tired and weak. It seems like the breathless feeling starts at the middle of my stomach and I can feel it through the front of my shoulders.
Avatar m tn why do i cough up blood? my dr. has tried to explain it to me, something about air ways, air vents, etc. i do this the majority of the time maybe 2 days in between doing so. sometimes it's bright red and then sometimes a darker pink. i have 50% breathing capacity and am on oxygen. it's real scary even though i've been told not to worry about it. i take advair and spiriva and don't cough up that much but when i do and it is very little.
Avatar n tn does anyone use the inhauler spiriva if so have you had any side affects
Avatar n tn is it safe to use spiriva and advair together my sister has had laryngitis for 4 weeks
