Common Questions and Answers about Is skelaxin safe

skelaxin

Avatar m tn I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin. My lower back tightens up and I just need some relief. I have been taking it a bit more often than I did say 6 months ago.
Avatar f tn The only side effect with Skelexin, as with any other muscle relaxant, is that it can cause drowsiness. Luckily, Skelaxin is one of the LEAST sedating of the muscle relaxants.
402205 tn?1230481005 I will try to avoid them right now tho because they make me sluggish and I am already fatigued with my cut in dose of hydrocodne..anything can be abused...skelaxin is a fairly safe muscle relaxer.....
Avatar f tn unless you have MS and I have forgotten that fact. It is a short acting agent and is usually prescribed two or more often three times a day. There are multiple drug interactions associated with Tizanidine such as Cipro so be sure to remember this when or if a new med is added to your regimen. I have no personal information on it's effectiveness. I tried numerous muscle relaxants. They often left me feeling " hung over" and depressed. I was ready to give up on any of them.
Avatar m tn My doc just gave me Skelaxin for my back pain and said it might help. I have been trying to cut back taking hydro and I don't want to take anything that is going to make me woosey. I started into therapy last week and it is really making my back hurt. The nurosurgeon I saw said I have from L-1 to S-1 messed up and he does not think surgery would help any. So he just said take the hydro because your not taking that many (only 3 a day 7.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure if its normal for everybody, but I did have a lot of pain and tightness through my neck and shoulders while I was detoxing. The skelaxin is a very mild muscle relaxer and non-narcotic (I'm pretty sure), so shouldn't be a problem. May even help. Having DDD in the neck is going to leave you with some pain that may be exagerated in the first few weeks. give it just a little time to level out before you try to judge what your "normal" pain will be.
Avatar m tn The surest way to choose a safe online drugstore is to look for the Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites, or Vipps, seal, which shows a druggist has been certified by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, a national group in Park Ridge, Ill., representing the 50 state pharmacy boards, as well as some outside the country. Most of the big chains such as Walgreens and CVS have internet sites. Drugstore.com is also a registered site.
Avatar m tn The muscle relaxer the dr gave me is Skelaxin. Anybody else ever try this. I read on drug ******* the reviews and some people said it really helped without making them dizzy like most of them do. Man I sure hope it helps so I can keep weening off the hydros.
450140 tn?1317947304 This limboland is really taking its toll on me and my family. Have not worked since Jan. that is putting a strain on us finacially. Not to mention, all the worry about my health. My husband, and my girls are almost as fustrated as I am. Like I tell my hubby when he starts ranting,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I KNOW .......I'M LIVING IT!! I have an appt. with a Neuro Physic. next month. My neuro insisted I see them, because he does not want me getting more depressed because of being in constant pain.
Avatar n tn Hello Shirio and welcome to the Pain Forum: First let me tell you that I'm sorry for the discomfort. The meds you have are not meds that can help you type of pain. You need a stronger Muscle Relaxer like Flexeril or Soma. These will work much better than Skelaxin which in my opinion is the "Baby" of the Muscle relaxer meds. It is wise to stay on an anit-inflammatory like Motrin but you might want to try 800mg Ibuphropen (sp) Also.
Avatar f tn anything we use each night for sleep can back fire on use/even benadryl/ as ur body will feel it needs it for sleep...soma is addictive so it is good u r quitting...melatonin works for many...valerian root works best for me...everyone is different...there are lots of sleep meds/supps on the market so i doubt u r alone in the sleep issue thing....amitryptilline in small doses helps me sleep if i just take it here and there...not habit forming but if u take it every night u get kinda used to it...
Avatar f tn So glad I ran across your post! I have two spinal fractures, severe curvature of my spine, my vertebra are fusing from a condition called ankylosing spondylitis and I have a fractured pelvis. I am 25 weeks pregnant with my first child. Opiates for pain management in pregnancy are possible. They can switch your pain patches to the lidoderm patches. I know they don't work as well but they are safe. Also a TENS unit is safe I got mine from EMPI Recovery Science.
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome! I'm sorry about all the pain you're having to deal with. If I understand your post, you're taking percoset, klonopin and skelaxin? Did I miss any? Percoset is a strong drug in itself, klonopin is an anti anxiety and skelaxin is a muscle relaxer. If you're wanting to stop the medications and stick with physical therapy, I would TAPER off of them one at a time. We can't recommend tapering schedules here, but I would start with the percoset.
Avatar m tn Felt bump and determined was musculoskeletal. Prescribed anti-inflammatory (Naproxen) and muscle relaxer (Skelaxin). Told me to take as needed (didn’t have to take the full bottle). Took prescriptions for 4 days, Skelaxin caused stomach cramping even when taken as directed. Urine test came back cloudy with high white blood cell count. Concluded was very dehydrated and sent off for tests to determine if infection was present. Also had me go in for blood tests.
585414 tn?1288941302 I am on Methocarb, Skelaxin and Flexaril and Klonopin which even at maximum doses provide only limited control as well as a natural remedy rhodiola, which is in clinical study but as it is not isolated as a compound can provide only limited relief. I was unable to tolerate all anti Parkinsonian agents because they enduced psychosis as well as alpha blockers such as Clonidine because they enduced suicidal ideations. Has Zofran been regularly used as safe and effective for Zofran?
Avatar f tn depakote, solu-cortef (hydrocortisone), zofran (not sure why...
5669694 tn?1372070410 t mind prescribing these so definitely ask. There is Baclofen, flexeril, skelaxin and a few others. When is your next appointment? Let us know how it goes OK.
