Is skelaxin narcotic

Common Questions and Answers about Is skelaxin narcotic

skelaxin

Avatar f tn I'm not sure if its normal for everybody, but I did have a lot of pain and tightness through my neck and shoulders while I was detoxing. The skelaxin is a very mild muscle relaxer and non-narcotic (I'm pretty sure), so shouldn't be a problem. May even help. Having DDD in the neck is going to leave you with some pain that may be exagerated in the first few weeks. give it just a little time to level out before you try to judge what your "normal" pain will be.
Avatar m tn ve taken Norco for a long time, I think I need to add a muscle relaxer to my pain man. regimen. Is Soma a muscle relaxer or a narcotic? I've taken Skelaxin but it takes several doses over a period of a few days to get relief. I would like something that works a little faster.
Avatar m tn Muscle relaxants like flexeril or skelaxin are sometimes helpful. If the pain is from nerves, medications like Lyrica or gabapentin sometimes help. If there is a component of depression, Cymbalta might by helpful. All of these non-narcotic medications are better choices than narcotics, as they are not subject to the tolerance that is such a problem with the narcotic medications.
Avatar f tn The only side effect with Skelexin, as with any other muscle relaxant, is that it can cause drowsiness. Luckily, Skelaxin is one of the LEAST sedating of the muscle relaxants.
198419 tn?1360242356 Thanks you guys! I'll be talking w/ Dr today I hope. I have chosen Copaxone. With my school and ER schedule, it will fit the best. As far as the cramping goes... it has calmed down to a constant tight muscle so I think it's getting better. I'm going to request a RX for Skelaxin (Methocarbamol) to help. It's a non narcotic/sedating muscle relaxer I can take during the day. I'm also considering trying samples of that med to help w/ fatigue... Provigil?
Avatar m tn errrr I can be a little self destructive. Going back on a narcotic is not an option. My doctor was impressed that I was able to just stop cold turkey when he wanted me to wean. A few days ago, I decided I was in too much physical pain and started researching non-narcotic pain killers. My pain doctor prescribed Lyrica about a year ago, but I wanted to stick to my Hydro/Tram/Benzo cocktail at that time.
402205 tn?1230481005 I will try to avoid them right now tho because they make me sluggish and I am already fatigued with my cut in dose of hydrocodne..anything can be abused...skelaxin is a fairly safe muscle relaxer.....
Avatar m tn I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin. My lower back tightens up and I just need some relief. I have been taking it a bit more often than I did say 6 months ago.
Avatar m tn What other medication is out there? It is so hard to get up in the moring because of the pain I have to crawl to the shower to have the warm water loosen me so I can do my fibro stretches in order to function. I have read some of the people who take narcs for the pain. Are you aware that narcs can make it worse? There have to be some other medication out there to help with fibro without the side effects of narcs.
Avatar f tn However, I do not see any way to do that without putting the fetus at risk from medication. Currently I am seeing a pain manager who has me on oxycotnin 30mg BID, Skelaxin 800mg, and Flector patches. I want to know how it would be handled if I were pregnant. I'm sure I am not the only woman in the world who has back problems like these and want to have more children. Please share what information you may have about such situations. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Hi, my name is Lukas, I am 18 years old (19 in September) and have an unusual case of neuromuscular pain that I've suffered from since I was 10 years old, but all of the doctors I've seen say that my condition could most likely be fibromyalgia or some type of chronic neuromuscular pain, but are still perplexed at my condition. I've already seen a Rheumatologist although the pain is not in the joints, just the muscles. I have also seen my family practitioner.
Avatar f tn unless you have MS and I have forgotten that fact. It is a short acting agent and is usually prescribed two or more often three times a day. There are multiple drug interactions associated with Tizanidine such as Cipro so be sure to remember this when or if a new med is added to your regimen. I have no personal information on it's effectiveness. I tried numerous muscle relaxants. They often left me feeling " hung over" and depressed. I was ready to give up on any of them.
Avatar m tn My doc just gave me Skelaxin for my back pain and said it might help. I have been trying to cut back taking hydro and I don't want to take anything that is going to make me woosey. I started into therapy last week and it is really making my back hurt. The nurosurgeon I saw said I have from L-1 to S-1 messed up and he does not think surgery would help any. So he just said take the hydro because your not taking that many (only 3 a day 7.
Avatar m tn The bottle says take 15 ML for laxative affect, but for me I have to fill the little cup that comes with the bottle to the top (60 ML), then you drink a pile of water and within a few hours your system is flushed, literally. I also take Percocet for the pain but being a narcotic, it is constipating as well. So without Milk of Magnesia, I would not have even a semi-normal existence. I hope you can try some.
Avatar f tn com/product/aspadol-100mg/) (Tapentadol) tab is a painkiller that works in two ways to treat mild to serious short-term (acute )and long-term (chronic)pain.Aspadol 100mg Tablet (Nucynta) is a narcotic analgesic that is medicine used to treat moderate to severe acute pain. [Aspadol 200mg](https://buynetmeds.com/product/aspadol-200mg/) medicine is designed for someone with migraine pain or uncontrolled body pain. Powerful ingredients of the tablet help to relieve pain quickly.
Avatar f tn d suggest putting a call into your doctor and asking if Lidoderm patches might help. They are patches that you stick on your skin and they have lidocaine which is a non narcotic medication in them. it's absorbed into your skin and basically numbs the area mildly where you have pain. it's great for stuff like muscle problems and some arthritis problems but it only works when your pain levels aren't super high. Most doctors are ok with them because they're non habit forming.
Avatar m tn The muscle relaxer the dr gave me is Skelaxin. Anybody else ever try this. I read on drug ******* the reviews and some people said it really helped without making them dizzy like most of them do. Man I sure hope it helps so I can keep weening off the hydros.
210982 tn?1280983895 What do you know about soma? I know it is not a narcotic but it gives me a buzz...tell me what you know...
450140 tn?1317947304 This limboland is really taking its toll on me and my family. Have not worked since Jan. that is putting a strain on us finacially. Not to mention, all the worry about my health. My husband, and my girls are almost as fustrated as I am. Like I tell my hubby when he starts ranting,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I KNOW .......I'M LIVING IT!! I have an appt. with a Neuro Physic. next month. My neuro insisted I see them, because he does not want me getting more depressed because of being in constant pain.
Avatar n tn Hello Shirio and welcome to the Pain Forum: First let me tell you that I'm sorry for the discomfort. The meds you have are not meds that can help you type of pain. You need a stronger Muscle Relaxer like Flexeril or Soma. These will work much better than Skelaxin which in my opinion is the "Baby" of the Muscle relaxer meds. It is wise to stay on an anit-inflammatory like Motrin but you might want to try 800mg Ibuphropen (sp) Also.
Avatar f tn I have recently been prescribed Darvacet, I am reluctant to begin taking it because I think it may be closely related to Hydrocodone although the ingrediant in Darvacet is totally different of that found in Lortab, etc. I am wondering if Darvacet is a weaker narcotic or a stronger narcotic? I have to be really really careful with these medications as I am prone to become addicted very quickly. I have searched Darvacet in web md and etc and found nothing much more than my insert contained.
Avatar f tn anything we use each night for sleep can back fire on use/even benadryl/ as ur body will feel it needs it for sleep...soma is addictive so it is good u r quitting...melatonin works for many...valerian root works best for me...everyone is different...there are lots of sleep meds/supps on the market so i doubt u r alone in the sleep issue thing....amitryptilline in small doses helps me sleep if i just take it here and there...not habit forming but if u take it every night u get kinda used to it...
Avatar f tn For the back pain, when I am not pregnant, I take skelaxin, a muscle relaxant that is non-narcotic, and for me, non-addictive. There are several options for you, including pain management clinics (personally, I don't like these places, but they are helpful to some). What I'm saying is DON'T GET DOWN right now. This is the time for you to pull all resources and do whatever you can to feel well. Best wishes!
