Common Questions and Answers about Is skelaxin generic

skelaxin

Avatar m tn Zanaflex is the brand name. The generic name is Tizanadine.
Avatar f tn The only side effect with Skelexin, as with any other muscle relaxant, is that it can cause drowsiness. Luckily, Skelaxin is one of the LEAST sedating of the muscle relaxants.
Avatar m tn I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin. My lower back tightens up and I just need some relief. I have been taking it a bit more often than I did say 6 months ago.
684012 tn?1227990456 I have to take two of them to get any relief, along with 2-ultram (tramadol 50 mg) four times daily with an extra strenght tylenol. That is the same as Ultracet. I will ask for 7.5/750 or another lortab or norco. There is another type of injection that requires her to put me out, I am just tired of being a pin cushion. However she did tell me we would have to try different meds to get it right. Okay thanks for answering me & listening to me.
Avatar f tn unless you have MS and I have forgotten that fact. It is a short acting agent and is usually prescribed two or more often three times a day. There are multiple drug interactions associated with Tizanidine such as Cipro so be sure to remember this when or if a new med is added to your regimen. I have no personal information on it's effectiveness. I tried numerous muscle relaxants. They often left me feeling " hung over" and depressed. I was ready to give up on any of them.
Avatar m tn My doc just gave me Skelaxin for my back pain and said it might help. I have been trying to cut back taking hydro and I don't want to take anything that is going to make me woosey. I started into therapy last week and it is really making my back hurt. The nurosurgeon I saw said I have from L-1 to S-1 messed up and he does not think surgery would help any. So he just said take the hydro because your not taking that many (only 3 a day 7.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure if its normal for everybody, but I did have a lot of pain and tightness through my neck and shoulders while I was detoxing. The skelaxin is a very mild muscle relaxer and non-narcotic (I'm pretty sure), so shouldn't be a problem. May even help. Having DDD in the neck is going to leave you with some pain that may be exagerated in the first few weeks. give it just a little time to level out before you try to judge what your "normal" pain will be.
Avatar m tn My non narco drug that I found to work really good for my back pain is called meloxicam I think that's how u spell it it's just the generic of mobic andbis just an NSAID like motrin or naproxen just a good bit stringer is what my doc told me and it works wonders for me so that's another one to try
Avatar m tn The muscle relaxer the dr gave me is Skelaxin. Anybody else ever try this. I read on drug ******* the reviews and some people said it really helped without making them dizzy like most of them do. Man I sure hope it helps so I can keep weening off the hydros.
Avatar f tn I've had pain in my shoulder as a result of workers comp. My ortho says I need to get my rotator cuff shaved down. I've been given carisoprodol (generic soma) but only 20 of them...I've had the bottle now 5 months, they don't help. I still lie awake in pain...and when I use my Enar device it rarely helps. I've used Biofreeze as well...that usually tells my brain to sleep. I've tried stupid mind games to get me off of thinking of the pain ie: comp games, reading, music...
450140 tn?1317947304 This limboland is really taking its toll on me and my family. Have not worked since Jan. that is putting a strain on us finacially. Not to mention, all the worry about my health. My husband, and my girls are almost as fustrated as I am. Like I tell my hubby when he starts ranting,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I KNOW .......I'M LIVING IT!! I have an appt. with a Neuro Physic. next month. My neuro insisted I see them, because he does not want me getting more depressed because of being in constant pain.
Avatar n tn Hello Shirio and welcome to the Pain Forum: First let me tell you that I'm sorry for the discomfort. The meds you have are not meds that can help you type of pain. You need a stronger Muscle Relaxer like Flexeril or Soma. These will work much better than Skelaxin which in my opinion is the "Baby" of the Muscle relaxer meds. It is wise to stay on an anit-inflammatory like Motrin but you might want to try 800mg Ibuphropen (sp) Also.
Avatar f tn anything we use each night for sleep can back fire on use/even benadryl/ as ur body will feel it needs it for sleep...soma is addictive so it is good u r quitting...melatonin works for many...valerian root works best for me...everyone is different...there are lots of sleep meds/supps on the market so i doubt u r alone in the sleep issue thing....amitryptilline in small doses helps me sleep if i just take it here and there...not habit forming but if u take it every night u get kinda used to it...
402205 tn?1230481005 I will try to avoid them right now tho because they make me sluggish and I am already fatigued with my cut in dose of hydrocodne..anything can be abused...skelaxin is a fairly safe muscle relaxer.....
1134609 tn?1269272200 It has been an interesting process, but I think I have finally figured out the medication issues. Here's the lay of the land: 1. I have always been sensitive to medications; they either work for me or the SEs are unbearable. 2. I have never had any luck when I have been placed on the generic brands of medications. Celexa especially; I was on it for 10 years, tried the generic several times and paid for it. 3. I have also been on Neurontin for the past 10 years.
Avatar m tn We had the same issue with 2 of our female Dobi's (Reagan & Taylor). Reagan, poor thing, got the worst of it. Apparently, some breeds are more susceptible to it than others. What happens is, when they get fixed, they're basically losing the ability to make estrogen, which is needed for muscle development.
Avatar m tn Felt bump and determined was musculoskeletal. Prescribed anti-inflammatory (Naproxen) and muscle relaxer (Skelaxin). Told me to take as needed (didn’t have to take the full bottle). Took prescriptions for 4 days, Skelaxin caused stomach cramping even when taken as directed. Urine test came back cloudy with high white blood cell count. Concluded was very dehydrated and sent off for tests to determine if infection was present. Also had me go in for blood tests.
Avatar f tn depakote, solu-cortef (hydrocortisone), zofran (not sure why...
7991152 tn?1396061810 Levoxyl is not a generic. It is a brand name, just like Synthroid is. It comes from the same manufacturer every time you refill your script. Think of them like Coke and Pepsi. Both are brand names. Both are colas. Some people like one better than the other. All the other "colas" you can buy are like generic levothyroxine. Though all are cola, each has some difference ingredients in it, like dyes, etc., depending on who makes them.
535882 tn?1396576685 NP is a generic Amour. it's made like the old Amour was made before the reformulation,(TO the NEW Amour) it's cheep ask for it , might help, give it a try, most docs/ insurance love it because its a "so-called" generic but really it's a Acella pharmaceuticals, brand /copy of old Amour, works for me.
