Common Questions and Answers about Is pataday a steroid

pataday

Avatar n tn Thankyou so much for your reply! i went to the doctors yesterday and after i did some research on the two drops you mentioned and i found patanol eye drops here on prescription in australia, which contains the same active ingredient as pataday drops just in a two drops twice a day method because its only 1mg not 2.22mg like pataday, i have done 2 doses of the drops and on my lord they are awesome! the redness has settled right down much quicker than in the past!
Avatar f tn Allergy eye drops plus steroid drops have helped a bit, but my ophthalmologist wants me to end the steroid drops so I have already started cutting back to only one drop a day, rather than two. The itching is already become unbearable. I have run allergy tests with my allergist and dermatologist and have kept away from all things I am allergic to (which are many) but there has been no change in these reactions. I have now added a puffy, itchy lower lip to the problem.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with GPC and recently ended the use of steroid drops. Ever since I've stoped the steroid drops, I've woken up with crusty, glued eyes. Could the lingering GPC be causing this? I've been doing artificial tears multiples times a day and Pataday drops 2x a day. I have a follow up appointment soon, I'm thinking about trying to move it up if this is something serious.
Avatar n tn If your allergy is bad enough to require a steroid then lotemax, or pred mild would be better choices.
Avatar m tn I suffer from the exact same thing with the inside corner of my eye driving me crazy at times it itches so bad. What has helped me is Rx eye drops called Pataday. It is for itchy allergy eyes, and sometimes I put a drop or two on the end of a q-tip and dab it in that corner of my eye and sometimes I put the drop directly into the eye. Works wonders. Whether it is allergy or irritation of some sort, the drops take the itch away for me. I hope this works for you.
Avatar n tn Consider glasses or refractive surgery. There is a non-steroid drop used to treat it called opticrom. Prolonged use of steroids is really bad, risks glaucoma, cataracts, fungus infections.
Avatar m tn If the ocular herpes is active don't use it.
Avatar f tn My left eye is very swollen and it appears to be a blocked tear duck, However I have been to see two Opthamologist, eye doctor, and Allergy doctor, and General Medicine doctor. No one has been able to figure this one out. It is at its worse i the Morning when I wake up. The eye lid is full of fluid, which looks like my tears . It drains slowly throughout the day and fills back up over night. I've taken antibiotics, Steroid drops, ointments . Nothing has worked.
Avatar n tn Zaditor is NOT the same as Patanol or Pataday. My doctor told me not to mix and match. NOW AARP Rx is sending me a generic Olopatadine HCL by Rising Labs and I am paying the same price as the Brand Patanol which works great for me. I live in NE NJ..
Avatar n tn I had an upper and lower blepharaplasty on March 16th and in the beginning of June developed a blister in the corner of my left eye. I was given steroids which raised my eye pressure too high and did not work. It sometimes gets really red and hurts all of the time. I went to an opthamologist and and eye surgeon and no one has a cure. The glands in the inner corner of my eyes right below my brows have a little tiny round hard objects too. Do you have any ideas or suggestions?
Avatar n tn ve been using preservative free artificial tears, pataday, an eye drop which is for inflamation and nothing helps. They burn more in the afternoon and evening however, the eyelid margin swelling doesn't go away at all infact, it keeps increasing. I've stopped all cosmetics for the past 1 year and only use a mild cleanser and moisturizer that was given to me by my dermatologist. The opthomoligist has given up and I've been to three of them.
Avatar f tn I was scared and revisited the doctor. The doctor prescribed me Pataday. On using Pataday for a day, I was afraid if it could resolve the issue. I took a second opinion from a diff. Doctor. The doctor prescribed me Lotopred, Ikul, Systane ultra eye drops for every four hours a week and said not to wear lenses for 10 days. I followed the instructions and my eyes got back to normal.
Avatar n tn You need to review with your allergy specialist and talk to him/her whether a change of medication - including steroid nasal sprays and a short course of oral steroids would help in your case. Let us know how you are doing and ifyou have any other doubts. Regards.
Avatar f tn My opthamologist took me off the antibiotic and told me to do the Pataday (allergy drops). Which I have. Yet, my right eye is tearing excessively and my right eye is tearing a little bit. The inner tear duct is very itchy and sting at times.I already got another opionion and was told that it's allergies. My eyes tear so much that I have to wear sun glasses all the time or else people think I am crying. It's becoming very annoying.
Avatar f tn I use Tobradex again on my own at this point. 3x a day. A week after going on like this I wake up to an eye that is COMPLETELY CLOSED. Oh my gosh, I FREAK OUT and make an appointment with the Ophthalmologist I went to before. He tells me this is a normal reaction to using Tobradex for a long time. He prescribed me Vigomox and Keflex tablets. It takes a week for my eye to go back to "normal" i.e slightly swollen and watery. I give up.
Avatar f tn Keratoconus and Coguns Corneal Dystrophy. Recently a syst has formed in the corner of each eye. Can't tell if it has added to already existing discomfort. Have beenn Restasis, Alrex , Pataday and now Muro ointment. I see a well known Corneaologist and he wants me to have the Amniotic Membrane Transplant especially now that I have developed the eye cysts.
Avatar f tn It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn Might also want to rule out thyroid disease. Lotemax is probably not something you want to be on long term since it is a moderately strong steroid. I suggest looking in to taking a daily multivitamin, adding a good amount of fish oil and flaxseed oil supplent, avoid lots of wind, dust, sunlight, ceiling fans, and dry hot air. Look into allergy drops like Pataday, frequent use of preservative free artificial tears, and possibly punctal plugs and restasis drops long term.
Avatar n tn Neither is specific for dry eyes. pataday is a once/day allergy eye drop and Xibrom is a non-steroidal antiinflammatory. If your problems are truely dry eyes you would do better with frequent artifical tears, a lubricating gel at bedtime, oral fish oil (2-4 enteric coated/day) and if moderate or severe then a 6 month trial of Restasis.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had leaky eyes after rezoom implants. I had the implants for a few years. Now I can not clear up leaky eyes. Tried everything. I've been on Pataday and nothing helps.
Avatar n tn Is there anything that sounds incorrect about this diagnosis, or is there something else I can address with him (or another eye dr if need be) to help them pinpoint what is going on. So now, he wants me to do the steroid drops (vLotemax) 3x a day for 2 weeks (i havent started them yet). Any advice you can offer up would be of tremendous comfort. Thank you in advance...
Avatar n tn Is ghosting most likely a serious problem? I don't want to worry my parents over something that is most likely nothing, but I also don't want to let something go that could greatly affect my vision. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I have NEVER had seasonal allergies before and I am 45. She prescribed Pataday. The drops have helped, but I still have symptoms, especially when I work on my computer. I returned to my optician for lens adjustments twice. I am still having a lot of difficulty. My optician says it has nothing to do with my new glasses, but it seems too coincidental. Help!
Avatar n tn I spoke with one of the doctors here the other day about a dry eye problem. I went to my eye doc and vision was 20/25 in both eyes with glasses of course and that is even with my wet, now dry AMD. GOOD I thought He said my eyes were very dry and it looked like the redness, itchy, fuzzy vision, and dryness was from allergies. He gave me 2 different drops and said we could try these to see if it helped or if the symptoms returned after I stopped using them, there were Pataday and Xibrom.
