I am taking Losartan, which is the generic of Cozaar. Like Benicar (which is not available in generic yet, I believe) it is an angiotensin II inhibitor.
There are usually very few side effects associated with these drugs, but their action on the biochemistry of the body is complex, so anything is possible.
I have Hashimoto's disease, which means I am HYPOthyroid. Before the Losartan, I was taking 90 mgs of Armour (which is T3 AND T4) daily.
Now since 5 days back I forgot to take Losartan at my usual time in morning, but took it in evening. What happened that my BP is not cominh down, I take metprolol 25 mg in morning and after an hour or so BP becomes more or less normal but start rising after 9pm and in the morning ranges the same as mentioned earlier. Should I start taking metprolol 25 mg in evening as well.
You are correct, Losartan is usually prescribed at 25-50mg daily as a starting point, the MAX is 100mg. If your Doctor wanted you to have the maximum, perhaps 2x50mg would have been easier on you, by dividing it through the day. This medication can promote too much potassium in the body, which in turn can cause serious arrhythmia.
You are also right to question coming off your beta blocker abruptly, Metoprolol, because many people have to start taking them again and be weaned off.
It thank you for posting, my doctor first had me on 25mg HcTz (generic diuretic) I believe... It didn't seem to work now losartan it's not working either. My Bp is consistently 140s...150 sometimes. Just worried its going to hurt me permanently before I can get it controlled. I'm 22 take care of my body and this has caught me by surprise...
gov/14769835/ I would not immediately think this is what is happening but it is something to ask your doctor about. Anxiety can raise blood pressure too. If it turns out to not be a fit with buspar for your BP issues, there are other options.
I do also think there are minor differences between generics that can create different physiological effects.
Don't stop your buspar until you talk to your doctor. Would an SSRI be something that you'd consider? They also help with anxiety.
His averaged blood pressure is 146/80. He was placed on losartan potassium (50 mg) for 8 days but there is no change to his averaged blood pressure. Would you advice him continuing losartan or seek new drugs? Many thanks.

I would wonder if the sound issue is not related to a bit of anxiety. I'm not really seeing anything in the literature to support what you describe with retards to sound being louder but sensory experiences can be affected whenever our nervous system is not regulated.

After a month of anti-tb medications, my cough still persists, my doctor then prescribed diflucan 150 thinking that I might have a fungal infection aside from tb. i just had 2 caps of diflucan but I now suspect that losartan is the culprit since I am taking it for more than a year now.
