Is losartan generic

Common Questions and Answers about Is losartan generic

cozaar

Avatar n tn Losartan alone, also known as Cozaar does not have a diuretic. But Losartan with HCTZ is also known as Hyzaar. Don't assume yours has the diuretic in it. Ask the pharmacist.
Avatar m tn I am taking Losartan, which is the generic of Cozaar. Like Benicar (which is not available in generic yet, I believe) it is an angiotensin II inhibitor. There are usually very few side effects associated with these drugs, but their action on the biochemistry of the body is complex, so anything is possible. I have Hashimoto's disease, which means I am HYPOthyroid. Before the Losartan, I was taking 90 mgs of Armour (which is T3 AND T4) daily.
Avatar n tn Now since 5 days back I forgot to take Losartan at my usual time in morning, but took it in evening. What happened that my BP is not cominh down, I take metprolol 25 mg in morning and after an hour or so BP becomes more or less normal but start rising after 9pm and in the morning ranges the same as mentioned earlier. Should I start taking metprolol 25 mg in evening as well.
Avatar f tn You are correct, Losartan is usually prescribed at 25-50mg daily as a starting point, the MAX is 100mg. If your Doctor wanted you to have the maximum, perhaps 2x50mg would have been easier on you, by dividing it through the day. This medication can promote too much potassium in the body, which in turn can cause serious arrhythmia. You are also right to question coming off your beta blocker abruptly, Metoprolol, because many people have to start taking them again and be weaned off.
Avatar f tn I am concerned about the drop in dose and generic brand (synthroid is tier 4-expensive for me). I also take losartan 25mg and just came off Farxiga since I am not pre-diabetic anymore, A1c is 5.6 (4-6.4).
Avatar m tn It thank you for posting, my doctor first had me on 25mg HcTz (generic diuretic) I believe... It didn't seem to work now losartan it's not working either. My Bp is consistently 140s...150 sometimes. Just worried its going to hurt me permanently before I can get it controlled. I'm 22 take care of my body and this has caught me by surprise...
973741 tn?1342342773 If you get a good reduction and hit the 130 range for your regular blood pressure after being much higher previously, is this considered a success? Or should you increase medication and work to lower it even further?
Avatar f tn gov/14769835/ I would not immediately think this is what is happening but it is something to ask your doctor about. Anxiety can raise blood pressure too. If it turns out to not be a fit with buspar for your BP issues, there are other options. I do also think there are minor differences between generics that can create different physiological effects. Don't stop your buspar until you talk to your doctor. Would an SSRI be something that you'd consider? They also help with anxiety.
Avatar m tn Losartan is a really good drug with few side effects. 50 mg is not a high dose. It should not be causing any of the problems you mention. Ask your doctor.

Avatar m tn His averaged blood pressure is 146/80. He was placed on losartan potassium (50 mg) for 8 days but there is no change to his averaged blood pressure. Would you advice him continuing losartan or seek new drugs? Many thanks. Avatar m tn //www.drugs.com/sfx/losartan-side-effects.html Uncommonly, ear congestion and hearing loss occur. But you are describing hypersensitivity. Losartan is associated for some with tremor. I would wonder if the sound issue is not related to a bit of anxiety. I'm not really seeing anything in the literature to support what you describe with retards to sound being louder but sensory experiences can be affected whenever our nervous system is not regulated.
Avatar m tn Here is what drugs.
Avatar m tn I was on losartan for a few months. I don't think that my bp was consistenlty high. I think what was going on was that it was very up and down and it was making me feel pretty bad. But losartan which is a third line for bp was the first thing that they put me on. And I don't think my bp was that bad. I have had elevated renin/aldosterone studies and low potassium in the past.
Avatar n tn s been a couple hours from when you normally take your pill, the pill should be working and your blood pressure should look like the pill is doing its job. But if your blood pressure is very high when you take it whereas it is normally normal with medication, it's a strong possibility you skipped taking it. If you normally take this medication in the morning and your blood pressure is not sky high, just wait until tomorrow and take it at the normal time.
564491 tn?1320360393 I currently take 240 mg of Verapamil daily as well as 25 mg of Losartan Potassium for Hypertension. My blood pressure readings have been excellent for a long while now, i.e. 110/70, 120/80. I had my blood pressure taken today (last time taken was a few weeks ago), and it was much higher than usual: 150/86 (from my internist's visit), and 150/90 at an allergist's office a bit earlier in the day. I was not feeling particularly stressed out to cause this rise in BP.
Avatar n tn After treatment, the level fell indicating that losartan is able to switch off NF-kB with the result that scars are no longer produced or maintained, but instead shrink. Professor Mann said: “By measuring the amount of active NF-kB in the liver from a biopsy sample, we may be able to tell which patients will benefit from treatment with losartan or similar drugs such as ACE inhibitors. This may prove to be a new treatment for up to half of all liver patients.
1008841 tn?1293598960 Has anyone heard about a study with Losartan, a BP drug, on people with HCV, with moderate Fibrosis? Its suppose to shrink them, so the liver can heal. I was wondering how I could get on a study like that? I'm Type1a, a non-responder.
Avatar m tn I have been on Losartan for approximately eight months come here recently I have found it very difficult to swallow my food and seems like he gets caught in my esophagus, yesterday at two different Meals I began to choke on my food I had to drink several glasses of water in order to get my food to go down with no issues. Could this be a side effect of Losartan?
Avatar n tn I stopped taking losartan September 8,still having symptoms. Been on losartan about 4 years. I have asked the dr. Could it be that,he said no. I stopped myself to see if it's the problem. I have a home blood pressure monitor & it's been in the120-128/78-82 range. Problem been going on about year..
Avatar m tn Losartan is not known to have many side effects. I've been taking it for a few months with no problems. Have you had any other medication changes? Do you take any statins for cholesterol issues?
2009161 tn?1327915695 Today my BP has come down to 135/80, any ways can I continue using the same medicine? Could you please tell me if Losartan Potasium has calcium in it. What is calcium channel blocker? My mom was treated with By pass surgery recently and she has been shown that there is calcium lesion that has been there in one of her heart arteries, Is it because of these tablets(Losartan Potasium). Avatar f tn After a month of anti-tb medications, my cough still persists, my doctor then prescribed diflucan 150 thinking that I might have a fungal infection aside from tb. i just had 2 caps of diflucan but I now suspect that losartan is the culprit since I am taking it for more than a year now. I came across its adverse effect as I searched for the answer of my persistent cough. Is my suspicion right?
Avatar m tn So, avoiding beta blockers is a plus with your pulse rate, and the losartan your doctor picked is in a different class of blood pressure lowering medication. How's it working out so far? Do you drink caffeine, eat a lot of chocolate, smoke, take pseudophedrine for allergies, have a lot of stress in your life?
