but what i am wondering, like for people who are allergic to alot of things. Is the flovent the same type of medicine lije as the albuterol inhailor. I can use the albuterol inhaler but i am not sure if i can use the flovent or not. Can someone give me this answer please? i have looked and looked for this type of answer but cant seem to find it any where. I would appreciate if someone could help me out please.
Albuterol created a vocal cord problem. Now been put on Flovent Diskus 100mgc and continue the Albuterol. Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common? Tonight will be my 1st use of the Flovent.
Concerned that I may have a mitral valve problem plus the emphysema. My symptoms of attack are severe shortness of breath, high heart rate, and the immediate need to urinate. Does anyone have anything similar to this?
Flovent is not a rescue inhaler. Who told you that? Only Albuterol nebs or inhalers are rescue inhalers,
Flovent is aka fluticasone, you can grow aspergillus with flovent and advair. Did you read the patient information that it can also cause resp infections as well as cataracts, over time?
Have you changed your toothbrush, had dental cleanings or told your MD/ Have you been offered Mycelex lozenges or Diflucan?
Flovent is a corticosteroid for asthma. I take albuterol, a fast acting inhaler, that does raise my heart rate for about 10-15 minutes. A normal response to the medication. Since Flovent is a steroid, it shouldn't normally raise your rate. However, you may have a sensitivity to that particular medication. You should talk to your doctor about it, see if s/he can prescribe a different one for you.
On the basis of those three answers, I would not be as worried as you probably are and continue to use the Flovent as you are doing and stay in close contact with the Pediatric Pulmonologist. It is likely, that your son will continue to have wheezing episodes with infections and possibly with exposure to certain allergens. If your son is allergic, you should know that cats are a major factor for allergic/asthmatic children.

The cough cleared up for the most part, as did the wheeze, but the meds had serious side effects – I stopped the Levaquin after 8 doses, because it was making me depressed and exhausted, which I still am. I am also still coughing a bit (producing a little mucus), and feel short of breath, but my lung function is at 92% and I have optimal peak flow (475). I’ve cut back my meds to 220mg flovent twice a day, and albuterol when necessary.

Some have such severe constriction from both inflammation and the airway muscles that there is not enough airflow/oxygen making it to the alveoli. This is also due in part to the incomplete emptying of the lungs. This process can happen over a matter of minutes to days. I don't think that this is a risk worth taking. Plus you lose your quality of life and are no good to anyone.
There must be a balance achieved in the amount of medication you are taking versus the symptoms you are having.
Prednesone will knock it out very quickly, but that is an evil drug which should only be used as a last resort. The albuterol will mess with your BP though.
Flovent takes about 2 weeks to reach full affectiveness. So you may want to be patient with that and see how you feel in another week. You might try taking some guiafenesen (plain Mucinex). If there is any lingering congestion in your chest, that will help to clear it out. Also, drink lots of water.
This year i completely forgot to start my meds, so i had a minor asthma attack. i I went to the doctor. He put me on flovent, my albuterol, also to keep taking my allergy pills, Zyrtec. So i started feeling better.. Im a 28 year old, im working out alot cause i know im a bit overweight. im a runner. And since that attack i havent been able to have a full workout. I lose my breath easily, my chest feels tight, i feel like yawning all the time to catch some air.
Hi, I thought I would post this just in case anyone else is having the same problem as me. I went to see that specialist. Turns out it is not asthma. Everything, including a chest x-ray, came out normal. They even said the testing they did to me can make a person without asthma have an asthma attack, but I was normal throughout the whole testing. My symptoms are starting to go away again like they usually do this time of year.
Hi everyone... I was just wondering if anyone knows about asthma treatment during pregnancy. I am a 24 yr old who is looking to get pregnant and have come off my advair and singlair but am now taking my albuterol MDI several times a day. I don't know if there is something other than the advair that I can take or If I should just go back on it.
once this is not able to control the asthma, we add in a regular long acting beta 2 agonist such as salmeterol and you continue to use the short acting as and when needed. is this fails, the next step is to add in regular steroid such as beclomethasone. once this fails , we replace the inhaled steroid for oral regular steroids. there are also leukotrience receptor antagonists and mast cell stabilisers.
in an acute setting, the approach is different.
He is now coughing more and says his chest is tight. His breathing is fine. I gave him his regular meds of flovent and singular, I also gave him 2 puffs from his albuterol inhaler. He is now asking for his breathing treatment which is unlike him cause he hates it. My question is can I give him a treatment if he just had his inhaler?
These include Albuterol, Flovent, Combivent, Spiriva, lasix, Diamox , Clariten and Nasonex. I follow a strict diet, no fatty , greasy, fried ,alcoholic or dairy. I elevate my head in bed and lay on my left side. I had test done which include upper and lower GI series, endoscope and a fluroscope. I do everything my Doctor tells me but I am still suffering . My Doctor also suggested that I lose weight.
I notice that the ingredient that in Flonase is the same (fluticasone propionate) is the same one used in flonase..
It occurs to me that flonase might even work better because more of the stream of fluticasone propionate would hit the back of my throat and be swallowed, getting more to my esophagus and less to my mouth.
The key point though is I can get flonase inexpensively, whereas the flovent is more than I can easily afford.
