Avatar m tn Your father has occluded coronary vessels (ischemia) and apparently high blood pressure being treated with irbesartan and lasix is a diuretic. Clopidogrel is an anti-platelet medication to prevent clots. The reduced ejection fraction of 16% may be causing fluid buildup in the lungs and peripherals (arms and legs). I had an EF below 29% and was diagnosed with congested heart faiure...congestion was due to fluids in the lungs.
Avatar n tn m currently taking Irbesartan every morning and is now controlled well. I enjoy traveling in hot conditions, some days can be up to 39 degrees. Can my blood pressure medication stand such heat if I was to say just put it in my wallet? I'm always traveling to different places and don't always have access to a fridge or ice to take on hand. If not, are there any other heat resistance BP medication i can try?
502219 tn?1311357910 I read a article recently referring to the fact that Patients with hyponatremia had a higher mortality rate and that UNOS was considering adding sodium levels to the MELD calculation. I also found a MELD calculator that includes sodium at the mayo clinic site http://www.mayoclinic.org/meld/mayomodel8.html My sodium level averages from 128 to 130 and the MELD-NA Calculator gives me a much higher MELD of 20. Are they thinking of changing the MELD calculation?
Avatar n tn Symptoms of moderate hyponatremia include tiredness, disorientation, headache, muscle cramps, and nausea. Severe hyponatremia can lead to seizures and coma. These neurological symptoms are thought to result from the movement of water into brain cells, causing them to swell and disrupt their functioning. Best.
Avatar n tn Can you please advise if I am taking high blood pressure medication (irbesartan) and Altorvastatin for high cholesteron and I am also taking Tamoxafin for breast cancer (about to come off this drug), is it adviseable to take Leptin Cocoa for health weight loss or would this affect the medications?
Avatar f tn Hyponatremia is a common electrolyte disorder defined as a serum sodium level of less than 135 mEq per L. Treatment is based on symptoms and underlying causes. In general, hyponatremia is treated with fluid restriction (in the setting of euvolemia), isotonic saline (in hypovolemia), and diuresis (in hypervolemia). For more information, see Figure 1 and Table 1 in the following article: https://www.aafp.org/afp/2015/0301/p299.
Avatar n tn My Dr. put me on lowest dose of Losartan and I got joint pain in my thumbs and then in a knee so I weaned myself off but my BP was very high (systolic) during visit. He puts me on Irbesartan, SAME class of drug, then goes on VACATION. It's the smallest dose and I took a corner of a pill yesterday, no pill today, BP is fine, I'm in PAIN. My thumbs hurt, my right foot and left knee, I don't feel well and then I read that all of this are side effects of this drug.
Avatar m tn I am a male 70 years of age. I have been on 150mg Irbesartan and 5mg Amlodipine daily since October 2010. This controlled by BP within acceptable limits. Since late April, however, the systolic has risen to an average of around 150. My doctor wants me to add a beta blocker to the other medications. Since last October my heart rate was averaging below 60. Since late April it is averaging around 70.
Avatar f tn If you have hyponatremia maybe. Did they do a blood test? How long did they say to eat more then average sodium?
Avatar n tn my friend just started taking trandolapril 1mg and Irbesartan its only been a couple days but she feels awful dizzy, heart palpatations, head ache and her blood pressure is still really high 190/110 should she just stick it out?
1108262 tn?1273179266 After getting a new psych doctor and a therapist, we all decided to work together to get me off of Trileptal, as the pdoc felt it had not really helped me, and the therapist helped me deal with the depression and anxiety as well. Pdoc also was worried about the hyponatremia and "twitches". (These are really weird side effects most people don't get, but I guess I am very sensitive.
Avatar n tn What would be a rough formula for calculating sodium excretion. This has to handle extreme results like acute hyponatremia and hypernatremia. What is the maximum excretion at which point the body is unable to keep up with consumption? This information will not be used for any actual medical purpose on any actual organism, inaccuracy is acceptable and even intended to keep the calculations simple.
11777386 tn?1426289802 Since Saturday 3 days ago I have been having really bad heat flash it causes me to get dizzy and loose my sight temporarily until the flash is over Sunday I.
Avatar f tn Hi, My doctor has diagnosed a mild calcification of the aortic valve and mild to moderate aortic regurgitation. I also have mild hypertension which is controlled with Irbesartan. I'm 50 and don't seem to have any symptoms but what can I expect and what can I do to improve my condition.
Avatar m tn Hi, Drinking too much water can lead to a condition known as water intoxication and to hyponatremia. This is most commonly seen in infants under six months of age and sometimes in athletes. This also results when a dehydrated person drinks too much water without the accompanying electrolytes. Excess water outside the cells draws sodium from within the cells out to re-establish the necessary concentration. As more water accumulates, the serum sodium concentration drops , hence, hyponatremia.
Avatar f tn sarahthemace is correct when she points out that hypoxia is the wrong word. I used it in haste, remembering it as the word for hyponatremia. Here is an article on the condition, hyponatremia, commonly called "water intoxication." All the articles about it mention that it happens only if a lot of water is drunk in a relatively short period of time. http://www.scientificamerican.
Avatar f tn (looking for autoimmune, leukemia, other infection...) Get checked for tuberculosis, hypercalcemia, and hyper/hyponatremia (too much or too little sodium)...I'll chew on this some more and get back to you...
Avatar m tn I have had this dry chest and cough for awhile, and it just seems to linger and might be getting worse.
Avatar m tn On August 23rd, 2014, he was diagnosed with Tonsillitis, Hypertension, Hyponatremia, Hypokalemia and Hypoxemia by one hospital.
967168 tn?1477584489 I went to get blood work this morning around 8:30am and made sure I drank water after I got up because I get dehydrated easily...even doing this my lips and mouth were dry by the time I got to the dr's office...that set off more pvc's and nsvt runs grrrr Nurse took me back and she kept trying and no veins would pop...when she would find one it would just collapse...arms, back of the hands and inner arms...
Avatar f tn Lately I have not been feeling myself I've been getting sudden bouts of felling dizzy, tired, like I'm going to faint, headaches, slightly nauseous, my heart speeds up and I find it hard to breathe. My head feels funny like I'm not there if that makes any sense? Like its a dream or I'm in another place/world? I am slightly stressed but not enough to cause this? I drink plenty of water and have a decent diet. What could this be?
Avatar n tn She was given Lycinopril for borderline high blood pressure and was taking this for 3 years. Then she got ill and stopped when she was admitted to the hospital for low sodium/high potassium levels and was given an IV, I believe at that time they said it was hyponatremia. She is currently taking gabapentin with no real affect. Her condition has not improved but has gotten various diagnosis from Fribromyalia to Issacs Syndrome. Can you shed some light on this? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Drugs do not correct your underlying metabolic disorder which is too much fat and unhealthy foods and not enough exercise. these drugs are about control and not cure.
Avatar n tn Aside from the kidneys, where in it flushes toxins out of vital organs, it also helps carry nutrients to the cells and provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues. We may need to modify our total fluid intake depending on how active we are, the climate we live in, our health status, and if pregnant or breast-feeding. It is possible to drink too much water.
