Avatar n tn I am taking Ciprofloxacin and also take Nyquil zzz to sleep. Is this a safe interaction?
Avatar n tn To date there have been no reports of an important interaction in humans between warfarin and clopidogrel. Nonetheless, because warfarin increases the risk of bleeding, blood tests to measure the degree to which the blood is anti-coagulated or thinned (prothrombin time; INR) may be ordered to assess the degree of blood-thinning when warfarin and clopidogrel are used together.
Avatar n tn Great site! I've bookmarked it for future reference. Thanks for the information.
Avatar n tn 5 years my cardiologist suggests me to change to warfarin + asprin theraphy. I am scared of warfarin due to its side effects and risks. What are my risks if I continue with my currrent asprin+clopidogrel dual anticoagulant theraphy? Shall appreciate advice or sharing your experience with these drugs or necessity of changing over from one drug to another?.
Avatar n tn You should contact your caregiver for advice regarding your medication as they would have your medical history, general health, etc. There is a noted drug interaction with Viagra and warfarin in certain patients. In patients who have pulmonary hypertension, there is an increased risk of bleeding when taking these medications together, etc.. Thanks for your question, take care.
Avatar n tn There is no interaction between Alli (Orlistat) and oral contraceptive pills. The only listed interactions Orlistat has with other medications is a heart rhythm control medication known as Amiodarone, a thyroid medication known as Levothyroxine, Fat soluble vitamins, and the blood thinner known as Warfarin. Additionally, if you have taken Orlistat and oral contraceptive pills before with no changes the likelihood of the combination having an effect on your cycle this month is very small.
Avatar m tn Pradaxa is taken twice a day, shorter life in the body and is cleared from the body quicker than coumadin (warfarin). With warfarin, Vitamin K is used to reverse overanticoagulation in patients, there is no antidote for Pradaxa. Warfarin a lot cheaper than Pradaxa. Good luck with your ablation. Hope you do well on Pradaxa! Best wishes!!
Avatar f tn According to some studies, fish oil supplements may elevate the international normalised ratio (INR) of people taking warfarin. and may provide additional anticoagulamt effect. Fish oil, an omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid, may affect platelet aggregation and/or vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors. The exact mechanism of interaction is unknown and further tests may need to be done.
Avatar n tn She also has uterine fibroids that have been giving her problems, even more so since the warfarin. Between the uterine fibroids and the warfarin, her menses are extremely heavy. She is on iron because she tends to be anemic around her period. Her periods are so heavy that she can go through 4-6 large pads an hour, sometimes more. She feels like she is going to bleed to death at times and it scares her.
Avatar f tn I just had the same situation, although in my case I did not find there was an interaction until I was done taking the Anti-Biotic, I found they had done a study and found that certain antibiotics change or reduce the rate of absorption of thyroid medications. This group is called "Fluoroquinolone" Which includes Ciprofloxacin and others.laura1967 is correct, I was informed by my End to take them 4 hrs apart, to be on the safe side.

1570981 tn?1295831355 It says something about the interaction of these two drugs. And my english arent that good to translate the meaning of the words. " Fluvoxamine may also inhibit the elimination and increase the blood levels of theophylline (Theodur, Uniphyl), warfarin (Coumadin), alprazolam (Xanax), and triazolam (Halcion)." - from the web. what does this means? help!!!
612551 tn?1450022175 Anyone know why the surgeon would prescribe this very expensive form of anticoagulant when oral administered warfarin is very inexpensive and doesn't require sticking oneself with a needle? I suppose it is more effective - I'll ask him myself if I ever see him again.
Avatar f tn Please let me know the difference between Acitrom and Warfarin as anti coagulents. Do both these drugs go with severe diet restrictions on Vitamin K.
Avatar n tn Does anyone know the differences and effectiveness between US and UK treatments? Most importantly however, is there a guide on the pain-easing timescales (peeing broken glass versus the urge to pee isnt a dilema im enjoying right now).
942410 tn?1274047074 Clearly your question is one for your doctor to answer. In my experience with Warfarin, and I get along well with it, aspirin is much easier to deal with if it is sufficient. I don't know the relationship between having a pacemaker and needing Warfarin. Warfarin is a blood anticoagulant (thinner) as I'm sure you know. It is taken to reduce clot formation caused by something line Atrial Fibrillation or mechanical heart valves.
Avatar m tn Due to a genetic disorder, I've been taking warfarin for over 6 years and doing fine. My INR is always between 2 - 3. I need to have tooth extraction and implant. Do I have to stop taking Warfarin or can I just continue since my numbers are so good? I read that some people stay on warfarin with no negative problems having a tooth implant. .
Avatar f tn My friend was scheduled for hernia surgery today, but it was canceled because he used methamphetamine two days ago. What are the risks of interaction between methamphetamine and anesthesia and how long should he abstain before it's safe to have surgery?
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, the drug herbal interaction between the valerian and prozac is not been well known or studied. There can be more sedation due to this combination. As for herbal drugs, Valerian has a long history of use as a sedative and anxiolytic. It is one of the most popular herbal preparations in Europe. It has also been reported that valerian improves sleep quality. It may have benefit for individuals with stress caused by a number of factors.
Avatar m tn They kept trying to push me further and further out and I want to make sure it stays between the 2-3 recommended. I got one of gizmos to check it at home, but couldn't get it to work last time and had to go to the lab anyway. The home INR checker is covered by Blue Cross and Medicare and they want it done once a week, which makes me feel more secure.
Avatar m tn Hi all, I was wondering if anyone here knows if there is a negative interaction between the two. I am starting on Sevalla now (for fibromyalgia) and am in a state with legal medical marijuana (colorado). Does anyone know of any side-effects between the two? Or do i have to stick with just Savella altogether? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks guys!
Avatar n tn There has been a report of an interaction between ginkgo and nifedipine (Procardia), a calcium channel blocking drug used for blood pressure and arrhythmias. Blood-thinning medications -- Ginkgo has blood-thinning properties and therefore should not be used if you are taking anticoagulant (blood-thinning) medications, such as aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dipyridamole (Persantine), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), or warfarin (Coumadin).
