Avatar n tn I am taking Ciprofloxacin and also take Nyquil zzz to sleep. Is this a safe interaction?
Avatar n tn 5 years my cardiologist suggests me to change to warfarin + asprin theraphy. I am scared of warfarin due to its side effects and risks. What are my risks if I continue with my currrent asprin+clopidogrel dual anticoagulant theraphy? Shall appreciate advice or sharing your experience with these drugs or necessity of changing over from one drug to another?.
Avatar n tn You should contact your caregiver for advice regarding your medication as they would have your medical history, general health, etc. There is a noted drug interaction with Viagra and warfarin in certain patients. In patients who have pulmonary hypertension, there is an increased risk of bleeding when taking these medications together, etc.. Thanks for your question, take care.
Avatar m tn Pradaxa is taken twice a day, shorter life in the body and is cleared from the body quicker than coumadin (warfarin). With warfarin, Vitamin K is used to reverse overanticoagulation in patients, there is no antidote for Pradaxa. Warfarin a lot cheaper than Pradaxa. Good luck with your ablation. Hope you do well on Pradaxa! Best wishes!!
Avatar f tn According to some studies, fish oil supplements may elevate the international normalised ratio (INR) of people taking warfarin. and may provide additional anticoagulamt effect. Fish oil, an omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid, may affect platelet aggregation and/or vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors. The exact mechanism of interaction is unknown and further tests may need to be done.
Avatar n tn Great site! I've bookmarked it for future reference. Thanks for the information.
Avatar n tn To date there have been no reports of an important interaction in humans between warfarin and clopidogrel. Nonetheless, because warfarin increases the risk of bleeding, blood tests to measure the degree to which the blood is anti-coagulated or thinned (prothrombin time; INR) may be ordered to assess the degree of blood-thinning when warfarin and clopidogrel are used together.
Avatar f tn I just had the same situation, although in my case I did not find there was an interaction until I was done taking the Anti-Biotic, I found they had done a study and found that certain antibiotics change or reduce the rate of absorption of thyroid medications. This group is called "Fluoroquinolone" Which includes Ciprofloxacin and others.laura1967 is correct, I was informed by my End to take them 4 hrs apart, to be on the safe side.

1570981 tn?1295831355 It says something about the interaction of these two drugs. And my english arent that good to translate the meaning of the words. " Fluvoxamine may also inhibit the elimination and increase the blood levels of theophylline (Theodur, Uniphyl), warfarin (Coumadin), alprazolam (Xanax), and triazolam (Halcion)." - from the web. what does this means? help!!!
612551 tn?1450022175 Anyone know why the surgeon would prescribe this very expensive form of anticoagulant when oral administered warfarin is very inexpensive and doesn't require sticking oneself with a needle? I suppose it is more effective - I'll ask him myself if I ever see him again.
Avatar n tn There is no interaction between Alli (Orlistat) and oral contraceptive pills. The only listed interactions Orlistat has with other medications is a heart rhythm control medication known as Amiodarone, a thyroid medication known as Levothyroxine, Fat soluble vitamins, and the blood thinner known as Warfarin. Additionally, if you have taken Orlistat and oral contraceptive pills before with no changes the likelihood of the combination having an effect on your cycle this month is very small.
Avatar m tn t know how warfarin is affecting your life style. I have been on warfarin for years and had no concerns about running and bike riding, and using power wood working tools. All of these activities puts one at an increased risk of a cut and bleeding, but I simply take the risk. On the other hand, I don't sky dive, or pick fights ....
1464587 tn?1307491605 Has anyone ever takin bladderwrack and then maybe 12 hours later had a reaction of severe dizziness after eating? Dizziness was like when you were a kid and you used to spin around until you couldn't anymore? The reaction afterward was what I had everytime I moved or even shifted.
Avatar n tn ginger and glucosamine sulfate will affect coumadin (warfarin) I'm on warfarin and can't take ginger or glucosamine and a host of other supplements.
Avatar f tn DOES ANYONE KNOW IF WARFARIN CAN LOWER YOUR BLOOD COUNT AND AND ALSO LOWER CALCIUM AND VITAMIN D LEVELS?
Avatar f tn Seven months ago I had a pulmonary embolism and I am told this may have been the second one.I am taking 7 mg of warfarin a day and my INR is 2.5.I had a liver transplant 10 months ago,and was told my vascular system was not great.Given my overall situation I am concerned about heart attacks and strokes.Do you think I should be taking 75mg of aspirin a day as well as the warfarin? Thanks.
Avatar n tn She has been on warfarin and monitors it regularly. She also has past history endometriosis and has always had heavy periods and problems with her periods. She also has uterine fibroids that have been giving her problems, even more so since the warfarin. Between the uterine fibroids and the warfarin, her menses are extremely heavy. She is on iron because she tends to be anemic around her period. Her periods are so heavy that she can go through 4-6 large pads an hour, sometimes more.
612551 tn?1450022175 CoQ-10 is frequently recommended for reducing side effects in patients taking statins ( like Lipitor) and I haven’t heard of anyone on warfarin having issues. I would recommend consulting your doctor first (obviously) and maybe refraining from COQ-10 unless you have some nasty symptoms that you absolutely can’t tolerate which COQ-10 has been shown to alleviate.
Avatar f tn I don't know if I have Trich or not but I was wondering if taking Ciprofloxacin 500mg 2x daily would cure it?
Avatar m tn I believe it could be a FATAL mistake if you stopped taking the warfarin. Mechanical valves will clot without warfarin and this could cause a heart attack, stroke or heart failure and could cause you to have to have another open heart surgery. PLEASE ,PLEASE talk to your doctor about any changes in the warfarin.
Avatar n tn A drastic change in diet can alter INR also, but in my own personal experience, it has usually been other meds that caused me to need to change my warfarin dosage and not my diet. An INR that is consistently out of range is dangerous. Don't worry about maintaining the same dose of warfarin. Worry about maintaining an INR that is consistently within range. Whatever dose of warfarin you have to take to stay in range is okay.
Avatar f tn Sometimes aspirin is used in place of the Plavix, and the patient will be on aspirin and warfarin. That type of combo regimen is used when the doctor doesn't think that one drug alone is enough to do the job, and one drug obviously wasn't enough in your case. It seems that your Plavix and warfarin regimen is working, so I'll join you in giving thanks for that.
Avatar m tn I read online that the combination of Ciprofloxacin and Azithromycin can be dangerous. Is this still the case, if the last Ciprodose was one week before the 2g Azithromycin dose?
Avatar n tn Glad you are now sleeping well and BP control. I currently wake up with severe headache/eye pain every night and have done so for the past two months. The pain gradually diminishes during the day but has been so bad in the mornings that I have been taken to A & E hospital units but have received no real help in diagnosis. My BP average has been 175/104 but has peaked at over 200 (systolic).
