Avatar f tn http://www.medhelp.org/cancer/articles/New-Treatments-for-Chronic-Myelogenous-Leukemia/3 Another helpful site is Cancer.Net, from the American Society of Clinical Oncology: http://www.cancer.net (just enter CML into the search area). Thank you for your question.
Avatar n tn It is possible that the white blood cell count would normalize after 2 weeks of taking Imatinib (Gleevec). Most responses to Imatinib are rapid since it targets the molecular pathogenetic event in CML. You may seek a second opinion if that will give you a peace of mind. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Hi. Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) is a blood disorder caused by an acquired genetic defect in the pleripotent stem cell. It has several phases: indolent chronic or stable phase, aggressive or advanced phase, and accelerated and blastic phase. The transition between phases may take years (on the average, 4 to 6 years from the stable phase to aggressive phase).
Avatar n tn My doctor told to come for additional test in two weeks. Now my WBC is 1.3 and absolute neutrophils count is 0.04. I was told to stay home on antibiotics. How long it may take for my counts to clime back to safe range. And of course, I'm off gleevec right now. Does it seem that dose of 400mlg is too high for me.
Avatar n tn Are you currently on any medication like imatinib? The neutropenia can be due to your current medication. You can ask your hematologist for G-CSF injection if you have persistent neutropenia. Patients with CML are immunocompromised and can easily acquire infections. Neutropenia also puts a patient in an immunocompromised state. For now, it is very important to prevent acquiring any infection. You should avoid crowded places and persons with ongoing infection. Good luck.
397118 tn?1219762250 s sister comes out does her part, Don receives the transplant and is put on all the ordinary protocol drugs for GVHD and about a week after transplant he has a neurological allergic reaction to prograph. He was totally wacked out, hallucinations, jabbering, restless just a real nutcase, then he becomes nonresponsive to anyone and his breathing very irratically. They ship him to ICU where he codes and they put him in a coma and on a ventilator. This was on a Saturday.
Avatar f tn I also would like to impose the question of prognosis for polycythemia vera. None of the doctors are willing to state or predict life expectancy, I only know what I've read on the internet. Thank you for answering our questions.
Avatar m tn I have recently started taking Tramadol for a recent back surgery. Im taking 50MG three times a day. I started taking it Monday before last and then on Friday of that week broke out into a rash which looks like flea bites. They are red bumps and when I scratch them they have a bit of fluid like and turns into a very small red scab. I broke out under my breast area and top of my back. I thought it might be a heat rash as I had just worked out and had on my sports bra.
Avatar m tn Hello, My 4 1/2 yr old daughter was given an unrelated umbilical cord blood injection (4ml) for autism on 12th Aug this year. In the 2 months that followed she had 4 episodes of fever with rash showing up three times. Dengue and Malaria were ruled out by a blood test. The stem cell bank in question (www.reelabs.com) has given us a certificate of analysis claiming that they test for HIV 1 & 2, HCV etc via PCR before extraction of stem cells from cord blood.
Avatar f tn TY for the reply. Yes I was told and am thinking that its parasitc or allergy. I went to aruba in June but that wouldn't have an affect on me now, would it?
1530342 tn?1405016490 “Unfortunately, the experience on HealthCare.gov has been frustrating for many Americans. Some have had trouble creating accounts and logging in to the site, while others have received confusing error messages, or had to wait for slow page loads or forms that failed to respond in a timely fashion. The initial consumer experience of HealthCare.gov has not lived up to the expectations of the American people. We are committed to doing better,” it read in part.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your thorough response. One item I failed to mention is that I have read Eosinophilia can be an indicator of Muscular Dystrophy. Please respond if you have knowledge of Eosinophilia being associated with certain types of Muscular Dystrophy. Last, the immunologist (Dr. Lierl of Cincinnati Children's Hospital) found allergy to mold and tree pollen although states that there are currently no allergens in the air that could be contributing to the Eosinophil level.
Avatar f tn At present, immunosuppression is still the treatment of first choice for Churg-Strauss syndrome. Novel treatment modalities for both diseases include immunomodulation with interferon alpha and biologics such as antibodies against interleukin 5.

Avatar f tn Hi everyone, i would like to request for a prayer for my grandma who is now hospitalized and is in critical condition. The doctor say she is not responding to the medications for her liver and her body is not digesting the liquid food either. They had diagnoses her with liver cancer. I don't know what will happen, as it will be God who will finally decide what happens from here onwards. All your prayers will be great appreciated. Thank you all sincerely.
Avatar m tn I don't know. Medicare is constantly changing their rules and regulations plus it's had 715 billion dollars taken out of it to pay for the so called "Affordable Care Act".
Avatar n tn Are these results conclusive for being negative for HIV or do I need to get another ELISA again on 90 days post? The odds I've figured for myself are about 1/20,000,000,000 which makes me feel pretty good (using 3% incidence which is probably very high in the first place). I've also read that the difference between 82 and 90 days is irrelevant. However, it's just one of those things where a very slight possibility still seems uncomfortable.
