Hysterectomy menopause flashes

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy menopause flashes

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn Yes, if you have a total hysterectomy you will go into menopause. Your ovaries provide hormones that keep you in the reproductive stage of your life. When the ovaries slow down or stop functioning (as in a total hysterectomy) then you go into menopause. I am in menopause and dealing with hot flashes daily. My sister had chemo and radiation for breast cancer. Chemo targets fast growing cells which includes cancer cells, ovaries, and hair (which explains why you go bald).
Avatar f tn I had a complete hysterectomy 6 years ago because my ovaries we bad. I started the hot flashes the second I woke up from anesthetic. I still have the quite frequently and I was wondering if any one knows when they will stop they are really starting to bug me.
1949068 tn?1449628519 Hi, A partial hysterectomy should not lead to hot flashes and symptoms of menopause, as the ovaries are kept intact. Hot flashes occur because of hormonal imbalance. Also feeling drained can be because of anaemia, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance etc. Please check out with your Doctor for a thorough evaluation. Hope this helps. Take care and good luck.
Avatar f tn Unless you go onto hormones, you will have instant menopause symptoms. You can google "menopause" for the list.
Avatar f tn 075mcg generic levothyroxine for the past 6 yrs. I am also past menopause but continue to have hot flashes. they subside for a while but about every 3 months or so come back w/ a vengeance. i am taking various menopausal vitamins and supplelments, but those have stopped working and again the flashes are back. i am now beginning to wonder if the hot flashes are related to the thyroid and not menopause. Would taking a brand name rather than a generic drug help?
Avatar f tn i am past menopause. the dr is going to do a complete hysterectomy on me. will i go through menopause again. how will i feel emotionally and physically. i have adhesions so they have to open me up. please help me. i have an ovarian cyst and a thickened endometrium.
Avatar f tn Due to a seizure issue, I was not able to take HRT. I used a menopause formula from Vitamin World. I still had to deal with some hot flashes, etc. but, overall, I was very happy with how it worked for me.
491716 tn?1211048106 Oftentimes a hysterectomy will put a woman into early menopause. Those common symptoms of menopause are due to an imbalance of hormones between the gonads (which are now producing much less progesterone) and the adrenal gland, which now needs to take up the slack and begin the produce the now needed progesterone. If this doesn't happen, a woman will become Estrogen Dominant. And that can develop into many other health concerns.
Avatar f tn is this really menopause?
Avatar n tn the only thing about the hysterectomy, was that i had hot flashes on and off for years. many say you cannot have hot flashes with a partial hysterectomy. i say different as i have been there. just my experience. i understand being 49 and wondering if you need this surgery. but if the injections are only licensed for 6 mths. and menopause can go on for some years, then i would think about it. plus, there will be the pain of the fibroids. do some research into it.
498959 tn?1209954808 I've just had total hysterectomy not even 2 wks ago. I've been experiencing hot flashes before from hypothyroid. Now hotflashes are worst. My hysterectomy was due to Endo. 2 surgeries back to back. I don't know whatto do. This is driving me crazy!
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago and noticed an increase in the symptoms of menopause, especially hot flashes. My gynocologist perscribed estrogel which I have found somewhat helpful for the hot flashes, but I had lost 30 lbs before the surgery, and now have gained it all back and more. I feel very drained mentally, physically and emotionally. I prefer not to used synthetic drugs and hormones. Can you recommend a relief for the hot flashes, and maybe the rest of the unwanted symptoms.
Avatar n tn I had a total hysterectomy two weeks ago. The surgery seemed to go quite well and I am up and about now. I am 44 years old and I just started feeling very sad. I also get really warm sometimes but I've been told if you're haing hot flashes you'd know it...they don't seem that bad only it is a bit uncomfortable. How soon after hysterectomy could I start feeling menopausal symptoms.
Avatar f tn Twenty years ago I had a total hysterectomy. Now I am experiencing all the menopause symptoms. Didn't I go through a "forced" menopause after my hysterectomy?????
Avatar n tn When I had my hysterectomy, my gynecologist took the works out. I'm talking the ovaries (well one, I had the other one removed last Dec.), uterus, cervix, and fallopian tubes. The procedure he used was called lavh, laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy. I feel a lot better for it though. For me, I have a family history cervical and uterine cancer, which why the gynecologist took out everything. From what I understand though, there are other cancers us women can get.
Avatar n tn Recently I have experienced terrible night sweats, worse than ever before, but they seem different than the hot flashes that drive me to get a hormone shot. Is this just symtomatic of regular menopause? After a shot, the hot flashes go away, and the night sweats used to, but now the night sweats stay with me...
Avatar f tn I don't think there is any scientific data showing that hcg will do anything positive for your hot flashes; those are most likely due to being pushed into "instant menopause" from your hysterectomy. I had a hysterectomy, also, many years ago and went through the same thing. There are other supplements you could try that might be more beneficial than hcg. You might talk to your doctor about taking black cohosh.
Avatar m tn I am pretty much the same. Had a hysterectomy in 1989 aged 42 and started having hot flashes at age 49. Was prescribed HRT and they stopped the flashes. Stayed on HRT until doctor advised they weren't good for me.15 years later. I stopped the HRT and within a few weeks the flashes had started back severely. I saw the doctor and said my quality of life had diminished to zero so he said to go back on them. Another 2 years on and another doctor has said to get off them again.
Avatar m tn I recently had a total hysterectomy. I was about 4 years post menopausal and had mild hot flashes. After the hysterectomy my hot flashes are worse which doesn't make sense to me. I'm wondering about using progesterone cream. Anyone have a similar experience? I'm 60 years old and in otherwise good health. I'm not on any prescription medications.
Avatar m tn My sister is a 45 postmenopausal female which is because of two much fibroid(30 pcs) did hysterectomy two days ago and one ovary removed , one ovary remained ,I need to know does this one ovary can support enough hormone(Estrogen ,progesterone) for her body and does she have menstrual cycle or no ?
Avatar f tn I had laproscopic hysterectomy 7 yrs ago, I'm 43good now. Never took any medicine or hormones after. No problems. Now I'm having miserable hot flashes and night sweats. Is this menopause?
6021725 tn?1378407875 Once you have a total hysterectomy, you are automatically thrown directly into menopause, so yes, your symptoms could be from either, hypo or menopause (or both).
Avatar m tn I can relate! Did you go through natural menopause or "induced" menopause? My skin aged horrifically fast after an unwarranted hysterectomy even though I have been on HRT. My naturally menopausal sisters' and cousins' skin does not look nearly as old as mine.
Avatar n tn Recently had an hysterectomy and a unilateral oophorectomy and was released from hospital with no info about hormone treatment, whether its necessary or not. Will follow up with my gyne but wanted to get feedback from others. I don't want to grow facial hairs if can be avoided.
Avatar m tn For one, you were not told the truth about ovarian function after hysterectomy. There is a good chance (about 40%) that the ovaries will fail after hysterectomy due to the loss of blood flow. But even women who appear to have "normal" ovarian function after hysterectomy suffer with they same symptoms as you. It is a myth that the uterus is disposable after childbearing. It has hormonal, anatomical, skeletal, and sexual functions.
279234 tn?1363105249 and your correct about the endometrosis is had that and had a full historectomy but i did get crazy there for a minute because i refused to get on anything that wasnt natural but had to choose going crazy or the real deal now on estrodol patches work tremendously great due to the hot flashes and changes i went through now seldom have hot flashes every now and then i do but not to the extreme compared to what i was doing at first these hot flashes are no more than a rain drop...lol....
Avatar n tn Hi, I am 41 years of age. I have a complete hysterectomy... ovaries, uterus, cervix, tubes all taken out back in October 2012. I am not on any hormone replacement therapy. I am still suffering from hot flashes and severe dryness everywhere. I am also getting a low grade temperature from time to time. Back around November, it was around 100-100.5 and they even did a cat scan and blood work to check for abscess. Nothing like that was going on. Everything was fine.
