hysterectomy

Avatar n tn What are the odds for regaining urinary control after a radical hysterectomy? Will the nerves grow back? My friend has absolutely no awareness. We're attempting bladder retraining at this time with routine toileting, but so far, it's not helping. Is there treatment for this condition?
2091079 tn?1332816899 It also seems that you may have developed stress urinary incontinence. If your gynecologist does not perform urinary incontinence procedures you should be seen by a urologist being that you are now more than 12 wks after surgery. Best wishes!
Avatar f tn I am 3 weeks post-op for a partial hysterectomy and suddenly developed incontinence. I had bladder spasms within the first 7 days of surgery, but they went away. This just came on suddenly, and I don't see my doctor till Monday. This is horrible. I have never birthed children, only pushed to eliminate my colon in the past. Sometimes I have waited too long to go and have leaked prior to surgery, but it was from being too busy. The minute I stand I leak. I have to wear maxi pads.

Avatar f tn Hi, Three years ago I started to experience OAB following a total hysterectomy, radiation and chemo procedures in the treatment of Uterine Cancer. It has steadily got worse, to the point where I am up five or six times a night, and experiencing problems with the management in my place of employment. I have been treated with two different meds and a recent ultra sound showed the kidney and bladder to be normal. My urologist is doing a second microscope examination next month.
8831133 tn?1415915535 Constipation was problem at first, but with stool softeners, lots of water and reducing the narcotics, I seem to be over that part. Any advice on the urinary incontinence going away would be so very appreciated. Scheduled for my 6 week check up in June.
Avatar n tn Also, repair of the cystocele can actually cause new urinary problems, such as urinary retention, or urge urinary incontinence. Oy! Another thing to consider would be a pessary - if the exercises aren't working, it's an option. You may need to try several different types before settling on one that works well for you.
Avatar n tn t want to give up uterine orgasms, and given the CA-125 is 15, the cyst looks mostly simple (one thin septation, no solid areas), I am wondering why I would need to have the uterus removed. I have had two prolongued periods, which led me to the gyn for the checkup, which led to the us that found the cyst, but don't have a really long history of long periods. The gyn thinks the longer periods may be due to perimenopause and wants to spare me years of prolongued bleeding.
Avatar n tn , bladder, and bowels, and can ease postoperative symptoms such as hemorrhoids and urinary incontinence. Being faithful to your exercises. And they're easy to do (anywhere): Tense the muscles around your vagina and anus and hold (as you would if you were trying to stop the flow of urine), working up to ten seconds. Slowly release and repeat; shoot for three sets of 20 daily.

Chiari 0 is a relativly a newer term...there is no herniation...but if u have copies of ur MRI u can see the crowding....there r areas inside that should have spaces btwn...the crowding causes the CF not to flow as it should and causes headaches and other chiari symptoms.....
Avatar m tn In a study of 226 spayed female dogs, a greater percentage of dogs treated with Incurin improved compared to dogs treated with placebo. Avatar n tn Is a good treatment method of a woman with stress urinary incontinence. Is it applicable for an aged woman? What is this treatment all about? Do I need to assist her during the treatment? How much will be the treatment duration? Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn Hysterectomy increases risk of bladder, bowel and vaginal prolapse, urinary and fecal incontinence, fistula and celes (enterocele, urethrocele, rectocele, cystocele). So it makes more sense to suspend the uterus instead of removing it. A good urogynecologist should be able to do this. If you have not gone through menopause then the surgeon may be able to use your own tissues to fashion a "sling" versus using mesh.
Avatar f tn I have a question regarding urinary and fecal incontinence as a consequence of MS. I was wondering if any of you had experienced this, if it is treated and how? Thank you very much.

5509293 tn?1428531475 Does it make sense for a neurologist to order a whole set of mris with and w/o contrast after hearing a report of one episode of urinary incontinence and several days of frequency? I have only had a uti analysis to check for UTI but no exam by either primary doc or neurologist. Why go straight to mris? And could this be related to kidneys? Because the MRI dye can impact kidneys adversely. All of this is in the context of previous mris to check out parethesias which didn't lead to a dx.

973741 tn?1342342773 So, this is going to sound weird . . . but I got the idea from those incontinence commercials. And then noticed this working . . . putting a tampon in. Swear this prevents any type of 'big' leak if I do a jumping jack set at the gym with the class. Why would that work? All I can think is it is the same strategy as those 'poise' things. I also notice that when I am about 5 pounds heavier, it is worse. I empty, re empty before I go anywhere.
Avatar f tn Ever since the Ureteroscopy I have had pretty bad stress urinary incontinence. Is this a normal side effect of either procedure?? Is this a permanent side effect?? Is there anything non surgical I can do to help the incontinence? I've been doing Kegel exercises religiously since October with no results. It's been 6 months of urinary incontinence.
Avatar f tn Haemorrhoids may not be related to the surgery. Back pain and incontinence may be related to the sling surgery. For the incontinence you need to see an urologist. Hope this helps. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor. Take care and keep us posted.

While the exercise mainly helps those with stress urinary incontinence, it can also help those with another common type, urge incontinence from overactive bladder. With urge incontinence, you have a sudden urge to urinate and don't always make it to the bathroom. Men with urinary incontinence problems can do Kegel exercises, too.
