Avatar f tn There are many herbs or vitamins your son can take on a regular basis which might also help him get fewer migraines. You can also try osteopathic treatment. You can search the web for natural remedies for migraines. There's also a Facebook group called Living with Migraines that might be useful to you.
1052851 tn?1307741160 Because I can drive for 45 minutes without a migraine now. I still bet that I would get a migraine though if I drove for much longer, because my muscles do sure start to get sore!! The one thing I still can't do for very long without my muscles seizing up is sitting in one position reading for very long... I can't get "caught up" in reading, because when I do I'll get neck pain which will then turn into a migraine.
Avatar m tn I have had a headache for now 31 days in a row without any real relief. It started out (I think) with a stiff neck- Couldn't touch chin to chest) and the same day I started with a headache. They almost follow a pattern everyday, I wake up with it, it gets better after I'm up for awhile and almost gone into afternoon, but around 4 pm comes back and keeps going for the rest of the night (almost worse when I lay down).
Avatar n tn I had a hysterectomy ten years ago. Prior to the surgery, I suffered with migraines and they were significantly reduced with the use of estrogen. Since stopping the estrogen, I have been getting severe frequent migraines. Should I go back on estrogen?
Avatar f tn re doing and whether or not the ponstel seems to help. My doctor is recommending that I have a hysterectomy but I am not ready for that, so I'm just riding it out for now. Do you have heavy periods? Have you tried anything for them? I have extremely heavy periods and am anemic. I have tried lysteda but it didn't help.
Avatar f tn I just had a hysterectomy myself. Ovaries intact. I have had two migraine headaches since surgery. I also was sweating like crazy, but this has subsided. I am trying to figure out if it is related to hormones as well. I have had my migraines under control for years 2 per year until now. I recently had my hormone level checked as well as my thyroid. This test was normal. I am not a dr. but the Uterus has some function in hormone control, but it is minimal.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I also take Clonazepam and 10 mg Amitriptyline for cyclic vomiting syndrome (or abdominal migraine). I have been on the same dose for 30 years. I read that taking a higher dose than I am on of Amitriptyline can help back pain. Do you recommend that I ask my doctor for a higher dose to try? Do you think it would bring the pain down some?
Avatar f tn She tried many different prescription medications including Imitrex, which provided some but not complete relief. About 8 years ago, she underwent a hysterectomy, which she hoped would alleviate her migraine pain since they seemed to be related to her menstrual cycle. However, her migraines persist in a similar pattern occuring almost every month. She is not taking any hormone therapy.
1389553 tn?1280782127 I am 40 yrs old I had an MRI done past Dec of last year, they say I have Rathe Cleft Cyst in my piturary gland. (5cm) I had several doctors saying they are not causing the migraine. Now, before I had the MRI, I was complaining of having severe migraines for the last 2 yrs. I was taking Imitrex for a while but, I did not like the way I felt-it caused my heart to beat too fast, felt I was surley gonna pass out. I am still taking Topamax to help preventing these headahces.
667913 tn?1242700488 Temgesic (sub) is the European communities form of pain relief RX - - didnt touch my pain so I wasnt interested in it. Not available in US for pain relief......only allowed to be prescribed for opiate abuse. Dont think its too good for prn pain - the stuff is so goofy with pharmacology and half lives that you would have to take it a day and a half before sceduled headache.......but you would be good to go for rebound headache!!! You might find that methadone is better for your purposes........
Avatar f tn If the headache lasts for less than 4 hours then it could be a chronic cluster headache or a chronic paroxysmal hemicranias. If it lasts for more than 4 hours it could be chronic tension headache, chronic migraine or altered migraine or hemicranias continua. Indomethacin is the drug of choice in hemicranias continua. In fact the diagnosis is considered confirmed if a patient responds to Indomethacin.
Avatar n tn Well in 2004 (22 years old) I had a hysterectomy due to some MAJOR complications I was having and for a second the migraines stopped, but then they came back with a vengence! I would get a migraine at least once a week and it was starting to really take a toll on my body and my life. So, in 2008 the doctors finally found a good med for me called INDERAL....it seemed to work up until now.... Now when I get migraines I can actually feel the spots on my head where they hurt.
1397091 tn?1296576718 Have a terrible migraine starting and went get a shot. Dr wanted to give me phenegren and a steriod, Do any Drs really give a sh*t about us that suffer from these horrible things?
1397091 tn?1296576718 However, if I have to end up taking two and then go to sleep, I feel hung over when I wake up. My Relpax almost always gives me relief. However, my insurance only pays for 6pills a month and I have a Migraine everyday now. My pills are $118.00 for 6pills with out insurance and they will not let me buy them seprately. My doctor is sympathic, so she will give me a Toradol shot when I need it. Takes over an hour to kick in and burns like crazy.
Avatar f tn Consider speaking w/your doctor about treatment options for this. I have not had a hysterectomy, but I am going through perimenopause and have dealt with very painful breast. For breast pain and tenderness, I use a warm compress (washcloth works fine) applied to the painful area's and also I take an ibuprofen or aspirin for more relief. Stay away from tight fighting bra's/clothing during any tenderness; you might want to go braless or wear a cotton sports bra when you can.
Avatar f tn Hope this is the right forum for migraines. I am a migraine sufferer, unfortunately I'm also allergic to NSAIDS. My only pain relief option is Tramadol however that is too strong for me. When I take it at night, and wake up next morning, once right out of bed the side effects of nausea and vomiting will hit me. I take it with stemetil thou. However sometimes I still feel the side effects. I'm under lots of stress, school and life related.
Avatar n tn I only take the Relpax during my migraines and may take tylenol, ibuprofen, or excedrin for my headace without any relief. My MD had spoken with me about taking medicine daily to prevent the occurence of my migraines. I really do not want to take another daily med because I want to have a baby in the next couple of years. The Relpax gives me really bad "jet lag" the whole rest of the day after taking it. Any suggestions? or what is everyone else on??
Avatar n tn It was relaxing and gave me relief for a few days. I then started acupuncture therapy which was also good but only gave temporary relief. Physio, Chiropractor and Osteopath therapy were treatments I seeked as well however, like acupuncture, only temporary relief was the result. After 15 years the symptoms became even more frequent and severe. By now it occurred 3 to 4 times a week and it was affecting my work and my life.

Avatar f tn Don't know if this will be helpful, but just came across this while doing research. " Stomachaches or Headaches. No one knows why stimulants cause these problems in some children and adults. But often it’s helpful if the patient eats something before taking the pill. If the problem persists, it may be necessary to try a non-stimulant medication.
