hysterectomy and hot flashes

I had hysterectomy in my 30s in mid 40s was having hot flashes and md put me on estrogen AND started treating Hashimoto. I developed numerous breast lumps went to MDA and found only cyst caused by the estrogen. The MD there said my hot flashes were not menopause they were from the thyroid.

I recently had a total hysterectomy. I was about 4 years post menopausal and had mild hot flashes. After the hysterectomy my hot flashes are worse which doesn't make sense to me. I'm wondering about using progesterone cream. Anyone have a similar experience? I'm 60 years old and in otherwise good health. I'm not on any prescription medications.

I am 60 years old, had a complete hysterectomy 21 years ago, and I am NOW having hot flashes! Why, at this age? I recently stopped (properly) taking Peroxitine. Surely that has nothing to do with the hot flashes. I wake several times during the night, can't seem to stay asleep all night. I am TIRED!

I don't think there is any scientific data showing that hcg will do anything positive for your hot flashes; those are most likely due to being pushed into "instant menopause" from your hysterectomy. I had a hysterectomy, also, many years ago and went through the same thing. There are other supplements you could try that might be more beneficial than hcg. You might talk to your doctor about taking black cohosh.

i had a hysterectomy and went into the change i had hot flashes and all the good stuff that goes with it, but with 3 kids to look after i did not gain weight my neighbor had a hysterectomy at 29 she had 6 kids she was so releived that she would not have to worry about having kids she really enjoyed her sex life, she also went throught the phase sometime it bothers a women she feels when she has a hysterectomy she is not a full women, but i had no problem with this nor did i feel like you do i am

Hello, for the past few weeks, I have been getting hot flashes and have noticed that my body temperature has changed. I used to be cold all the time, now I have to have a window open at night. I am only 43 but had a hysterectomy which my doctors says I could go into menopause 5 years earlier then normal. Is this something that could be caused by fibromyalgia?

60 yr old dying from hot flashes!Coped with heart attack,stent,lupus,fibro and surgical hysterectomy,POS.All HRTs,etc compounding creams,Premarin cause angina.SSRIs work but severe side effects.Have tried everything for 3years.Homeopathy hasn't helped.My life is a wreck from this,can anyone help?

Well about April I started to get hot flashes not very many but know they are getting so bad, I feel so sick to my tummy when they happen and I get them up to five times a day give or take. I quess I am wondering if this is normal or are my ovaries going bad also?

I was having the hot flashes too, even years after a total hysterectomy and then was diagnosed with diabetes. With medication and control of my blood sugar, the hot flashes have all but disappeared. Good luck to you.

Hi, A partial hysterectomy should not lead to hot flashes and symptoms of menopause, as the ovaries are kept intact. Hot flashes occur because of hormonal imbalance. Also feeling drained can be because of anaemia, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance etc. Please check out with your Doctor for a thorough evaluation. Hope this helps. Take care and good luck.

My hot flashes began about halfway through my original chemo, and have not changed a whole lot since. After my surgery, my gyn/onc put me on premarin for awhile but I did not really see where it did a whole lot. I have heard that many of those herbs are supposed to help, but remember before you start taking anything, clear it with your Dr first.

The stuff I am taking is called Enjuvia and the dosage is .625 mg. Just enough to stop the hot flashes. No other side effects. Your doctor will know what you need and when.

My sister is a 45 postmenopausal female which is because of two much fibroid(30 pcs) did hysterectomy two days ago and one ovary removed , one ovary remained ,I need to know does this one ovary can support enough hormone(Estrogen ,progesterone) for her body and does she have menstrual cycle or no ?

I had a hysterectomy at the age of 30, but everything removed at the age of 34. I had hot flashes then and they lasted about a year. This past winter the hot flashes came back worse than anything I have ever experienced. Over the last three weeks, any type of physical activity that I do (walking, shopping, washing the car, watering flowers outside, etc.) I get very lightheaded to the point where I have passed out. I am pretty much the same. Had a hysterectomy in 1989 aged 42 and started having hot flashes at age 49. Was prescribed HRT and they stopped the flashes. Stayed on HRT until doctor advised they weren't good for me.15 years later. I stopped the HRT and within a few weeks the flashes had started back severely. I am 46 and pre-menopausal. The first 22 months on the tamoxifen I had my period and occassional hot flashes. then one month my period stopped and my hot flashes. At month 27 on Tamoxifen, I had an ultrasound that shows a lickening of the uterean wall and 3 complex ovarian cysts. My Dr. is doing a biopsy but my question is why would my periods AND the hot flashes go away completely? I would have thought that if my period stopped my hot flashes would get worse not better.

Why do I have hot flashes and night sweats after having a COMLETE Hysterectomy and chemo. I am not on any type of hormones and cannot take any. Wow your letter really sounds like we could be twins,,my story is much the same alomos identical cept for time lenght, i had a total lap robotic hyster, due to endo, I did go on hrt immediatley (vivelle patch) I stayed on for 3 years then one day just decided to stop and see what happened Im basically fine a few hot flashes too, that my only menopausal symptom i also do definatley have an underactive thyroid been on symthroid forever,,will be for life no problems with the med, many do have issue

8 years ago I had a complete hysterectomy. I was on premarin for about 2 weeks and I quit taking it because it made me feel sick. Never went through any menopause symptoms.
