hypoglycemia

1949068 tn?1449628519 I have been having hypoglycemia moments. Which that is odd. They have been coming about for the last couple of years. No, I don't eat breakfast (unless I'm in the mood--which is rare). I don't eat until around 12pm-3pm. When I do it? Its small & a healthy meal. I'm not big on sweets and/or foods containing a lot of sugar? Another thing I notice? I stay so thristy all the time & I have the dry mouth as well. So I was thinking maybe I am an diabetic?
Avatar f tn From what I understand initial low blood sugar symptoms (that is the feelings as your sugar drops, rather than the symptoms that come about after suffering low blood sugar over an extended time) are a hormonal response your body puts out to tell itself your sugar is dropping and to do something about it. Those initial signs - the shakiness, the disconnecting feeling (almost dream-like disconnect) sometimes cold sweat, etc, can result from other things as well.
Avatar n tn Really severe hypoglycemia can cause a person to completely pass out or lose control over muscles enough that you cannot get out of bed or walk. I have been there, done that, and it is terrifying. I keep a 6-oz. can of juice right by my bed at all times. It can just sit there, and won't go bad if not opened, but I know that if I wake up in bad shape, I can manage to pop the top and drink it even if severely low.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have reactive hypoglycemia. One of the best websites to learn about hypoglycemia is reactivehypoglycemia.net. I don't think it's possible to grow out of hypoglycemia. I'm a teenager and I've had it since I was two or so. I really wish though!!
Avatar n tn My doctor also prescribed me Glyburide. Looks like it is safe for pregnancy, you just have to watch out for signs and symptoms of hypoglycemia.
1091845 tn?1263162000 0 (72) is not considered low, but your 2.8 (50) is. Hypoglycemia is usually caused by too much insulin, too little carbs or a combination of the two. You don't say anything about your insulin regimen. Are you on a basal/bolus regimen? How do you determine your bolus (pre-mea) dose? The best way is by finding out what your insulin:carb ratio is so that you gear your dose to what you plan to eat. If you are going low BEFORE your meal, your basal (long-acting) insulin dose may be too high.
Icecream The regimen may be aggressive, but not uncommon for a newly diagnosed patient. I do not know what your baseline lab values were (A1c, fasting blood sugars, etc..) But nearly all newly diagnosed patients start oral medications right away and some physicians are more aggressive than others because it is important to get diabetes under control as soon as possible to reduce risk of long term complications.
1852495 tn?1319545790 Hypoglycemia is generally considered to be blood glucose levels of below 50 mg/dL. Read the following list of symptoms; if this sounds like you, you may have this condition /1.Do you have a “food allergy” or frequent stomach upsets but you can’t pinpoint the cause? One of the first signs that your blood sugar is dropping can be feeling sick to your stomach. But a drop in blood sugar isn’t visible. Perhaps it’s lactose intolerance, you think. So you avoid pizza and lasagna.
Avatar f tn I know you asked about high blood sugar, but I also wanted to share the signs and symptoms of low blood sugar from MedHelp.org and the Sugar Sense app, in case it helps you in the future. You can find these in the Stay Well section of the Health Guide in the app. http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn It was weird, it only lasted about 6 seconds but I had to really concentrate to speak. My family has a history of diabetes and hypoglycemia. Has anyone heard of low blood sugar causing slurred speech?

Avatar m tn Oh well, I guess I sure showed true signs of a hypoglycemic anxiety state. I wish those feelings on no one.
Avatar m tn I have been having problems for the last two years. Severe hypoglycemia, dizziness, hair loss, heart palps, fatique, fainting spells, blood pressure fluctuations, and tachycardia just to name a few. It got really bad after I had surgery two years ago. Well I mentioned adrenal Insufficiency to my doctor because I had been under a tremendous amount of major stress. Well I am now labeled a hypochondriac. Doctor's ignored me for a year.
Avatar f tn Is anyone else having hypoglycemia (which is low blood sugar abt an hr or 2 after meals)? I'm 26wks and been having it for around a week now.How do u usually deal with it when it strikes?
Avatar n tn Hi - I'm new here. I have pre-diabetes (about 2 years now) and have autoimmune degenerative neuropathy (CIDP for 26 years) unrelated to diabetes. I am not overweight, and am 32 years of age. My question is: does inflammation in the nervous system cause alterations in glucose metabolism? I'm currently having multiple daily bouts of hypoglycemia - my doctors can't/won't answer my question. I'm taking IVIG, Imuran and Ultram - no steroids or antidiabetics.
Avatar n tn 71 is normal but again I felt horrible, weak, shaky, anxiety, etc. Could this be something other than Hypoglycemia? Before I had lunch I ran 2.5 miles on the treatmill and felt fine so this is beginning to puzzle me.
Avatar n tn (I think he was embarassed to call and say I was having leg cramps). I told him this was something more than just leg cramps. The hypoglycemia episode followed by SEVERE leg cramps and then nausea concerns me. I have hypoglycemia episodes once or twice a week but do try and control the with diet and excercise. Sometimes I really do not know why they come, yesterday was one of those instances. I have NEVER had any sort of cramps or nausea following an episode. Is this normal? Common?
2088051 tn?1334542007 So I Was Diagnosed With Hypoglycemia When I Was 15.. I'm 18 Now. It Seems Like It's Gotten Worse As I've Gotten Older. I'll Eat.. Then Not Even An Hour Later, I'll Start Shaking. This Stuff Is Horrible. I Just Need To Know If It's Because I'm Not Eating Enough Or It's Because Of The Food I Eat. Help!
