Avatar f tn Do tinnitis and migraines often go together? Would hydrochlorothiazide be causing my ringing ears? I suffer with migraines with PMS and if I eat something with MSG.
1202411 tn?1266087777 Thank you for your question. From your description of symptoms, it appears that your symptoms most likely have appeared due to Meniere's disease, ear infection and any other ear disorder like labrynthitis so needs to checking this out with the help of a physician here. In addition, venous angiomas are most of the times normal variant of brain's venous systems and is not related to any serious impairment or symptoms.
Avatar m tn t drink alcohol or smoke/use tobacco), I have severe tinnitus, in my left ear only, and minor hearing loss in the same ear. I am now taking hydrochlorothiazide (both for moderate hight blood pressure and to lower my water levels for the inner ear), and gabapentin for a neck spine condition (unrelated to the vertigo). My PCM states I am "suspect" for Minear's Syndrome but has not made a clinical diagnosis as of yet. Bottom line is I am trying to find a way back to normal.
148057 tn?1231426991 My mother was diagnosed with Meniere's disease about one year ago. Her symptoms are primarily those associated with loss of hearing. Ironically she was diagnosed and started experiencing the problems/symptoms shortly after having a crown put on one of her molars on the side with the Meniere's. Has anyone heard of dental work making or creating Meniere's? Do you think that it is possible it really isn't Meniere's and just something that happened with the dental work?
Avatar m tn Sir, I am surprised that an ENT was not consulted even prior to this point. I have the exact same condition with these differences. Moving from a light to dark area is an additional trigger and I have severe tinnitus which changes prior to an event (from mostly high pitch ringing to additional low frequency noise...like the sound of a helicopter). For me I have had all the medication, VRE, C-Scan, MRI, and every test known.
Avatar n tn My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
Avatar n tn I have been taking Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide (HTCZ) for high blood pressure since May 2007. Recently I have a feeling that the Hydrochlorothiazide is not working as it used to be. Will HCTZ lose its effectiveness after a certain number of years? Anyone know the answer or having similar experience, please let me know. Thank You In Advance For Your Reply.
Avatar m tn Ugh...I'll try to make this brief, but for the third year in a row--and the exact same time of year--my left ear has suddenly gone almost completely deaf with on/off tinnitus, and all day yesterday I stumbled around like a drunk because of severe vertigo that came out of nowhere. It's about 50% better now. I googled these symptoms together and kept landing on Meniere's disease pages...so I am tempted to see an ENT or audiologist, but there's a big catch.
Avatar f tn I was diognosed with ACMtype 1 17 yrs ago.been coping on my own. Had to have neck surgery last year, do to stenosis. It was nessary do to compression of spinal cord and vertrabal arteries. Now do to vertigo, the ear DR diognosed me with meniere's disease. could this be one complecation of the ACM.? Neurogist and neurosurgen said ACM was mild and not to worry about it.
Avatar m tn I AM TAKING HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE 25MG. I HAVE BEEN TAKEN THEM FOR 3 YRS NOW. THIS MEDICATION JUST STOP WORKING. MY DOCTOR WANTS TO ADD ANOTHER MEDICATION FOR ME TO TAKE. DOES THIS EVER GET BETTER. STAYS THE SAME OR DO THE MEDICATION YOU ARE TAKE ALWAYS GET ADJUSTED. UNTIL YOU ARE TAKEN 10 DIFFERENT MEDICATION. This discussion is related to blood presure medication.
Avatar f tn I'm presently on atenolol 40 mg (along with hydrochlorothiazide) once daily. I will be transitioning to propanolol 20 mg (and hydrochlorothiazide) twice daily soon - my doctor wants me to transition by taking propanolol - 1/2 of 20 mg twice a day for one week and then the full 20 mg twice daily. Why? Won't that cause rebound hypertension? Thanks.
Avatar n tn NO - Not 1/3 of Allergy patients have Meniere's - if you have Meniere's and Allergies then 1/3 of those patients that have both can control their Meinier's symptoms better.
Avatar n tn 23 years you have been dealing with this? WOW. Yes, I have been battling an inner ear problem since August 2009 and I COMPLETELY understand. I take Betahistine 16 mg 3x/day and xanax as needed, and if I don't, I am a hot mess! Yes, I have had my share of dealing with "quack" physicians before I got a diagnosis that sounded reasonable. Thank goodness I am an RN and can quickly weed out the crappy physicians.
Avatar f tn Your question doesn't entirely make sense -- "the best alternative for meniere's"? Do you mean the best treatment? Hearing aids or implants are only potentially appropriate for later stage disease in which the patient has permanently lost significant hearing. One of the defining features of Meniere's is that the hearing loss is fluctuating (early on) -- it goes away (to a degree) and then comes back.
Avatar m tn Hello, I was having the numbness and tingling while taking hydrochlorothiazide. I would stop taking it and the numbness/tingle would go away, take it again, and it would come right back. Not sure if he is taking hydrochlorothiazide. They had me on it for edema. I have swelling in my hands and ankles, all tests neg except for CMV. Battling this since April 2008. Hands so swollen, can't open bottles, hold a pen, hold a phone or peel the label off the top of yogurts..ect..
Avatar f tn I am so confused because I have too many issues that can cause the same symptoms. Recently, my doctor switched me from Valsartan HCTZ to Hydrochlorothiazide plus regular Valsartan for my blood pressure. When I first started it, right away I was having rapid heart beat and shortness of breath so he told me take potassium supplements. That did help but now I am wondering if I am taking too much potassium.
Avatar n tn However, this could also be due to some medications such as the combination of lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide that is used to treat high blood pressure. Lisinopril is in a group of drugs called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) while Hydrochlorothiazide is in a class of diuretics. Tingling in the hands and feet along with dizziness, headache and cough are some of the effects that are observed in this drug combination.
1668318 tn?1306416764 Hi weighing yourself and getting on a diuretic is not testing you. Did she run tests? Do you know??
Avatar n tn I've been preliminarilly diagnossed with Meniere's Disease. I'm 31 years old with no other health problems (other than history of alergies and asthma several years ago). The diuretics that the doctor perscribed are making me feel really bad. Short of breath, fatigue, blood red and buning eyes. Is this common? Other types of meds that should be tried instead? Any ideas? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Hi i have meniere's disease for 11 years. The last 5 years, no symptoms at all except for the hearing lost. Since feb 8, 2012, i have extremely loud tinnitus everyday with days of unsteadyness. I had steroid injection done feb 23, didn't work, made my tinnitus worse for a few days. I'm 36 yo, did some blood test, everything is perfect, i'm in good health.
Avatar f tn I have RRMS, diagnosed 2 months ago and just started Rebif. My question is, I also have Meniere's Disease and accute osteoarthritis. There are many interacting symptoms and I never know what I'm feeling. The most aggrivating one recently is muscle knee pain so intense sometimes I need help getting up. Both knees have been replaced many years ago and the hardware has been declared flawless. What's up? I'm constantly dizzy. Is that the MS or the Meniere's?
Avatar n tn Allergies, alone, wouldn't explain dizziness and vomiting. Allergies could affect the inner ear and cause an out-of-balance feeling, similar to what people experience during an episode of motion sickness. There's no allergy that I'm aware of that would directly cause dizziness/vomiting. You mentioned Meniere's disease, but vertigo isn't always Meniere's.
332074 tn?1229560525 I was diagnoised with Meniere's Disease almost 20 years ago. It is only in my right ear, and I have remained very high functioning for someone who has had it this long. However, it still is a very frustrating disease to deal with as there are times when I am so dizzy I can't do much. My question is, has there been any new treatments that have been proven effective for meniere's disease.
