Looking for good new...found out I am pregnant and am taking Lisinopril 10mg. Does anyone have any experience with this?
t helping me though, so I decided to discontinue use of it about 3 weeks ago. Low and behold, I realized the triamterene was making me feel worse while I was on it. I did notice that it made me feel better in one way though. Before I started the triamterene I had some stomach problems where I would feel there was a lot of constant pressure in my abdomen.

Yes, there is very high probability high BP will cause HCM, but usually it has a genetic component and/or the underlying cause is unknown. The medication prescribed is for your high blood pressure. The lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor that dilates the vessels and the heart's workload is decreased, and the triamterene med reduces blood volume as a diuretic which also reduces the heart's workload.
An ECHO on 3-4 revealed essentially no change, the heart rhythym is the same, and chest x-ray 3-7 said lung fields appear clear. Her doctor increased the lasix to 60mg A.M and 40 mg P.M., and triamterene to daily. Her potassium was low, and the potassium dosage was increased.
I asked my doctor if Diamox would help with acclimitization and he said yes, but that it would deplete my electrolytes such as potassium and that he would recommend Triamterene/HCTZ 37.5/25 instead. I'm not sure I understand why. I thought Diamox was the medicine of choice for acute mountain sickness (AMS) since it increases oxygen delivery.
I have been taking Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide (HTCZ) for high blood pressure since May 2007.
Recently I have a feeling that the Hydrochlorothiazide is not working as it used to be.
Will HCTZ lose its effectiveness after a certain number of years?
Anyone know the answer or having similar experience, please let me know.

My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic.
I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
I AM TAKING HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE 25MG. I HAVE BEEN TAKEN THEM FOR 3 YRS NOW. THIS MEDICATION JUST STOP WORKING. MY DOCTOR WANTS TO ADD ANOTHER MEDICATION FOR ME TO TAKE. DOES THIS EVER GET BETTER. STAYS THE SAME OR DO THE MEDICATION YOU ARE TAKE ALWAYS GET ADJUSTED. UNTIL YOU ARE TAKEN 10 DIFFERENT MEDICATION.

I will be transitioning to propanolol 20 mg (and hydrochlorothiazide) twice daily soon - my doctor wants me to transition by taking propanolol - 1/2 of 20 mg twice a day for one week and then the full 20 mg twice daily. Why? Won't that cause rebound hypertension?

This is a follow up to my April 23 posting concerning my severe sweating.
Since my doc does not think my problem is thyroid based, I decided to try a different approach. On May 12, I stopped taking HCTZ. I had read that some had had problems with HCTZ and sweating. Gradually, I seemed to have less sweating. Also, the feeling of being hot most of the time seemed to lessen. It is summer, and I do get hot, but others are hot, also. When I do sweat, it seems like a more normal sweat.
the medications i am taking is phentermine 37.5 and triamterene 37.5. i have tried so many expensive programs like jenny craig and weight watchers. don't get me wrong i lost weight but never this fast and easy. my doctor also suggested an injection absorbs fat in your midsection. i am really excited about my weight loss.

I was having the numbness and tingling while taking hydrochlorothiazide. I would stop taking it and the numbness/tingle would go away, take it again, and it would come right back. Not sure if he is taking hydrochlorothiazide. They had me on it for edema. I have swelling in my hands and ankles, all tests neg except for CMV. Battling this since April 2008. Hands so swollen, can't open bottles, hold a pen, hold a phone or peel the label off the top of yogurts..ect..
However, this could also be due to some medications such as the combination of lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide that is used to treat high blood pressure. Lisinopril is in a group of drugs called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) while Hydrochlorothiazide is in a class of diuretics. Tingling in the hands and feet along with dizziness, headache and cough are some of the effects that are observed in this drug combination.
I am 49 and have the following congenital heart defects: PFO, ASA, MVP and normally have hypertension controlled with norvasc and triamterene. Have had several TIA's and a major stroke at 46 due to PFO and ASA and have been taking Aggrenox and Simvastatin since the event.
I was placed on potassium citrate and hydrochlorothiazide but the medicines have horrific side effects. Also, has anyone experienced elevated blood glucose levels and elevated LFT's after taking these medications?
I tried benicar and lisinopril and caused sinus drainage - however, they worked Then tried hydrochlorothiazide which cause major constipation .... Now on amlopidine beselate and coreq cr and have fatigue....seems the latter meds are overkill as I had only one coronary stent over 10 hrs ago and cardiologist a few weeks ago said my heart is fine.
Diagnosed recently with high blood pressure. New med Hydrochlorothiazide for 2 weeks. Now my upper gum & roof of mouth are red, swollen, and painful. This is not a listed side affect. What's wrong?
After my hysterectomy based upon lab results dr put me on 235 mcg levothyroxin and weight was coming off and I felt great, he reduced thyroid to 200 mcg and I feel terrible again. Recent lab results reflect tsh of 0.09 and FT4 of 2.05. Hair is falling out/breaking off, nails break off easily, skin dry, can't sleep. Now he says reduce levothyroixn to 175. Take triamterene for the swelling in my hands/feet. Some days I am so tired. Taking vitamin b12, vitamin d.
I'm in the Philippines and have run out of my medicine for high blood pressure. I've been on Triamterene 37.5 mg and Amlodipine 5 mg. I'm low on funds and don't have the money to buy more medicine. A friend of mine from China mailed me some Levamlodipine 2.5 mg and some Hydroclorithiazide 25 mg (maybe mispelled) tablets to take. Should I take two of the Levamlodipine tablets to make 5 mg?
