Avatar m tn How frequent I can take insulin Humulin 70/30. I am taking 25 unit before each meal some just before meal or sometime after meal. Please advice how much I can take in a day ? How much min duration between 2 intakes ?
2094297 tn?1345389093 Cannot seem to control blood sugars, recently finished hep c tx succesfully, although still have cirrohsis but I am doing massive amounts of insulin novilin 70/30 injections (about 135 units daily) and feel real crappy as I seem to rollercoaster all over the place, any help out there. p.s. tried lantus and it worked for awhile, then did the rapid at all meals, tried both at same time, and just swithced to the 70/30 about a week or so ago.
Avatar n tn com Novolog Flexpen SubQ Storage It is best to refrigerate the unopened vial/cartridges/prefilled syringes between 36-46 degrees F (2-8 degrees C). Unopened insulin may also be stored at room temperature below 86 degrees F (30 degrees C), but in that case it must be discarded after 28 days. Once opened, this medication may be stored in the refrigerator or at room temperature below 86 degrees F (30 degrees C). Discard 28 days after opening. Do not freeze.
Avatar f tn mixtures of short-acting and intermediate-acting insulins in different proportions, such as 30/70, 50/50. Examples are NovoMix 30, Humulin M3, Insuman comb and Humalog Mix25.
Avatar f tn Why are you running out !?!??!?! If it is just running out refill the prescription early 2 days. If you have Humilin R on hand I question how old it is. If more than 30 days it is probably expired anyway. I also question having this Insulin as it has been largely discontinued for use as better insulins are now available. But the short answer is Novolog and Humlin R do not act in the same manner so substiuting can be very tricky and is probably not recommended.
Avatar n tn Some people find that one works more effectively than the other, so which is used is really up to the patient. Humulin, more commonly called Humulin NPH, and even more commonly called just NPH, is a long acting insulin. It is absorbed more slowly, and it's effects last longer, about 12 hours. Usually NPH is used in combination with one of the fast acting insulins. An alternative long acting insulin would be Lantus.
231441 tn?1333892766 Yes, preexisting I guess, but it never showed up before - probably was well managed by my diet and exercise). I was on insulin (humulin 70/30) by 10 weeks - started on six units in morning and 4 in the evening and went up to 10 in the evening and 4 in the morning in the first few weeks of adjusting. Anyway, I was able to keep levels stable and within target (<95 fasting, <120 2 hrs post eating) up until about 2 weeks ago. Am now 31 weeks.
Avatar n tn m not at 10 units) and it seems like the R is not working at all. I have even changed the bottle just in case there was something wrong with that vial and nothing has changed. I've though of just goign to Humalog (which I use at dinner) however I like R in the morning since i dont have to give myself another injection at lunch. Anyone can help with an explanation of what could possibly be going on?
Avatar m tn I live in Kenya and cannot find any supply of NovoLog there is only Humulin R. I need help to know if this is accceptable please!!!
419990 tn?1228259126 last time i bought Repronex cost me about $300 for 4 vial. This cycle I bought Follistim from one of the pharmacy that's my dr gave me and it's cost me $250 for 4 vial. The doctor charge me $350 for IUI. Last month alone, I spent almost $1000 for meds, IUI, sonogram, etc.... This month I do expect about the same. Scary huh?....... that's why i said financially i am burn.
Avatar n tn After giving birth, the gestational diabetes took a respite for 6 months and then my sugars shot up and I lost 30 pounds hoping to avoid insulin but I ended up on insulin anyway. I kept off those 30 pounds and was at an average weight until I started Lantus and now I gained back all that weight. While doctors will tell you it's not the insulin as they don't want you to stop taking it, I do believe some insulins (like any medication) have side effects.
Avatar f tn I have written that I was having a problem with preparing my procrit injection and having problems with air bubbles when withdrawing the solution out of the vial. Well, I received a new supply of procrit and this time the syringe is the 3 ml size with the 25 g needle, instead of the 1 ml size syringe and the 27 g needle. Maybe this larger syringe will be easier to release the air bubbles since I am only filling a smaller portion of this syringe.
Avatar m tn I have had diabetes for 30 years.I had much better control when I was using humuln n and humulin r . I am now taking lantus and novolog .I have had to increase my dosages and am still having a hard time getting control of my blood sugars. My aic is 7.8 this quarter vs 8. last quarter. should I go back to using the older drugs that gave me better control?
Avatar m tn Zoe - I think Windchimes meant humulin insulin not huminsulin. Humulin is considered an intermediate acting insulin as its duration is 24 hours, but this can vary per individual. LANTUS, on the other hand, is considered long lasting as its duration is up to 36 hours. Windchimes - You kept your Humulin dose a secret so one can only assume you're at max and why your doctor is considering moving to the pump. This link will give an inside on pumps http://tinyurl.com/lvs7o6 .
Avatar f tn My dad has always gotten a pneumonia vaccine, but this year when he went to get one he was told he didn't need one because he was over 65. What's up with that? He turned 70 this year and hasn't ever been told that. Is this part of Obama's plan for healthcare?
Avatar f tn You're a good friend to be concerned about your friends well being. If "N" is Humulin N, there is no "standard" Humulin N dose that will work for all people or even for the same person in all situations. This applies to other insulin types too. If your friends at home test results show low glucose levels "several times per week" it is time to have his/her insulin dosages re-evaluated by their physician.
Avatar m tn I have a vial of Trimix that is unopened and 90 days old. The vial says to discard after 30 days once opened. But since it is unopened and kept climate controlled and stable the entire time, is it safe to use? The pharmacy will not answer the question and the urologist will not answer the question. Can somebody here please help?
Avatar n tn I have been using Humulin R and just started using humulog in combination with this to try and put weight back on , lost about 25lbs . I seem to be having trouble with the humulog . I know our readings are different in canada , 5 to 7 is normal.I have had sugars as high as 32 and used 10 units of humalog , half an hour later I am 34 , I don't understand this ? What is the ratio of humalog to carbs ? I had the flu and I know it can really mess up your sugars , but this was a month ago .

Avatar m tn I never shared a needle, alway bought fresh needles but may have shared the vial. The oil is in a glass vial and the needle is stuck into the vial to draw out the amount of oil to shoot. If I had vial that was drawn on by by another person with HIV is it possible for the virus to survive in the vial until I drew the oil for my use?
Avatar f tn Most dogs do well on either Novolin N or Humulin N. Personally, I found Humulin N to work better for my dog. The cost of a bottle of insulin at WalMart is about $25 compared to $50 for the same thing at a regular retail pharmacy. 7. There are many diets you can use. You are not limited to w/d, which the vets seem to push! I don't know if your dog vomited because he didn't like the w/d, but maybe you have an idea about why that happened. It may have been because his sugar was high.
