Common Questions and Answers about Humira and sinus infections

humira

Avatar f tn s a constant cycle. Constant headache behind my eyes and sinus congestion. I take Allegra D for sinus and Bultalbital (prescribed) for the headaches, but it barely takes the edge off. Been dealing with this for years... hopefully the ENT will have some answers I can share. Good luck to you all!
Avatar m tn herpes is a viral infection. It doesn't come out of nowhere. to answer your question, no, humira doesn't cause herpes infections. since it lowers your immune system, it can cause you to contract infections of any kind easily. when you meet someone you are interested in and things seem like intimacy is on the horizon, be sure to talk about std's and testing to see who has what. oral herpes is contracted from kissing as an adult.
Avatar n tn I have injected humira 2 weeks ago and after 3 days developed a itch and cant sleep. will it subside?
Avatar f tn I was on Imuran as well as Humira and I never got sick, even after being around people who were. Maybe I was just lucky. Keep hand sanitizer with you at all times. Remember not to touch your face as well, and get lots of rest!
Avatar n tn The chills, nausea and aches were almost unbearable. Was diagnosed with sinus infection. Also had just given myself Humira injection.
Avatar f tn I have ankylosing spondylitis and just had my first Humira shot 2 days ago. Today I woke up feeling very achy, my nose is stuffy and my throat is scratchy. I don't know if it's allergies, an infection, or a side effect from the Humira. Has anyone else had this happen shortly after starting this drug? I am planning to call my doctor on Monday but just trying to figure out what's going on.
Avatar f tn You have mentioned sinus and respiratory infections. I don't know if this will help, and I am hoping it might. People with blocked sinuses and those with chronic or infectious bronchitis are helped with plain old vitamin B5. It is an anti-inflammatory and a mucolytic (mucus thinner). I use it for COPD and have discarded inhaled steroids. I now have both my sister-in-law using it (sinus trouble) and my brother (chronic bronchitis).
Avatar n tn His symptoms could also be related to other GI issues such as infections etc. I would suggest getting this evaluated by a primary care physician initially and depending on the cause suspected/ diagnosed, it can be managed accordingly or specialist care may be sought. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn I have been treated for rheumatoid arthritis with Humira for 7 months including a combination of Humira and methotrexate for the past 2 months. I also take 5mg of prednisone, and 6 Azulfadine tablets each day. I was taking Humira once every fourteen days and I am on 15mg of methotrexate a week. About a month ago, I started experiencing numbness in my toes and feet. I mentioned it to my rheumatologist but she wasn't concerned and simply told me it wasn't rheumatoid arthritis.
6013893 tn?1378341898 Hi, patients receiving humira are prone for developing serious infections. Lymphoma and other malignancies have been reported from patients receiving this medication. So, you can try to avoid infective zones and also restrict your physical work load. Take care.
Avatar f tn I have been to a pulmonogist (I am 43) and he suggested that humidifier/steam thing and whooo it made me worse. I do the sinus irritation thing-not the neti pot but a tube. The CVS pharm. recommended it to me. I had a CAT scan on my sinus which revealed nothing but I know I do cough from bronchtis and asthma and what has worked for me is a bronchiodialator "Combivent". That was also reccomended by my pulmonolgist.
876847 tn?1240239287 This can be done through transillumination (passing light through the sinuses) or Sinus X-rays or CAT scan of sinuses.Pls consult an ENT specialist and get these tests done. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.

Avatar m tn My gastro is going to start me on Humira and my question is, does Humira aid with digestion and stop the diarrhea. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I changed to Humira recently and was wondering if anybody has had success with humira who has ankylosing spondylitis. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Serious and sometimes fatal infections may occur during treatment with Humira.
686769 tn?1236272131 Humira almost killed me, because I get sinus/MRSA staph infections ofter, and my GI doc at the time didn't bother to tell me that Humira makes it impossible to fight any infection off! I was in the hospital for 3 months with kindey infection, pancreatitis, MRSA staph (which made my face swell so much it broke my nose).........and I refuse to EVER take any type of Immune-Suppressor! Please talk to your doc about this and go over all of your options!
Avatar n tn I have RA and use Humira/methotrexate. How long do I have to be off Humira to get a yellow fever (and/or tyhphoid) vaccine? How long to I have to stay off Humira after the vaccine?
1120928 tn?1263190816 Hi and welcome. Maybe you could give us a little more information. What kind of blood disorder did you have at a young age? Did you go to a rheumatologist? Do you have family support? Hopefully, someone will come along that has experience with those drugs in particular. I haven't been on either one yet. I just wanted to let you know that someone read your question and there is great support on the medhelp site. Hang in there, diagnosis is frightening.
Avatar f tn -Second myringotomy and adenoidectomy at 16 months. Very infected sinus cavities and ears. 10 day run of Augmentin and 6 day run of antibiotic ear-drops post-op. -Second myringotomy was due to complete 'plugging' of both tubes and continuing ear infections. -RAST test showed Level 2 Egg White Allergy (all egg products removed from diet). -1 day off post-antibiotic (11 days post-op): fever, effusion from ear, green sinus drainage.
Avatar m tn No, the Humira is an immune modulator which sometimes permits existing infections that many people have to re-occur (relapse) and makes recipients more susceptible to certain infections caused by fungus or to tuberculosis-type bacteria. Theoretically Humira might delay development of antibodies to HIV but there is no data to suggest that it makes persons more susceptible to HIV and there is no theoretical reason that Humira would make p24 antigen harder to detect. 2.
Avatar f tn t go beyond any further than a few stubborn patches. Finally I moved to Humira and Oh my my I have a new lease on social interaction. I can now wear my short sleeves in summer. The only thing I have is the old scars which are clearing slowly, but thank God, it does not bother me. There is also a small patch on my legs which is ignoring what ever I trow at it. But yes, Humira saved me as well as psoriatic arthritis that was developing too.
Avatar n tn Your antibody tests at 4 and 5 weeks would have detected between 90 and 95% of recent HIV infections and the 4th generation test that you had at 51 days provides definitive results (the 4th generation tests are conclusive 4 weeks following exposure). That you took prednisone the month before your exposure would have no impact on your subsequent test results. I suspect the symptoms you have described are, at least in part manifestations of the anxiety you are experiencing.
Avatar n tn If it was an upper tooth, you may have a sinus infection possibly and need antibiotic treatment.
Avatar f tn 13 years ago I was diagnosed with genital herpes which I contracted from my now ex. I married 8 years ago to a good man with a bad case of Psoriasis. About 6 months ago he was diagnosed with Psoriatic arthritis after having his hands and body start crippling his abailities in daily living, and began taking Humira as treatment. Recently he has decided that we can no longer be intimate and we need to separate.
Avatar m tn He concluded that the relief (although moderate) provided by the NSAIDs was further evidence for Reactive Arthritis and that I should try Humira. I have been on Humira for about 6 weeks with no effect. If anything, pain has gotten worse (though worsening should probably be attributed to discontinuation of NSAIDs).
