my daughter uses regular insulin since 9 years old now she is 20 and was put on Humalog 25 mix pen and the thing about the aggresive behavoir is true. last week we had to take her to a hospital with a descompensation almost commatose. I check another forum and it appears the pen humalog works well for adults over 30, 40 50 etc or so but by reading your case I believe it is not suitable for kids with diabetes type I.

Depends on how you use your insullin. My doctor gave me an insulin to carbohydrate ratio to use. I use 1 unit of insulin to every 12 grams of carbs I eat. The less carbs I eat, the less insulin I use. I have a very physical job for four hours a day and I don't even need my Humalog when I eat lunch. My pen generally lasts me the whole month. My Humalog is only good for 28 - 30 days.

You just print out a coupon good for a free Huma Pen Luxora HD or the newer Huma Pen Memoir this is the one that remembers your dose and the time you took it). You will need a prescription from your doctor to use the coupon at the Pharmacy though! Hope someone can use it.

The result, when I hit a vessel, was a drop in blood suger from 180 to 30 in 1/2 hour! I consumed about 48 ounces of orange juces and 2 bars of chocolate in 15 minutes just to stay conscious!

I saw a recent thread about Lantis in a pen and I would like to ask if anyone else shares my concern about this or the overall safty of Lantis. I use Lantus cartridges in a Humalog pen. And it works perfectly. For me, a major benefit of switching from NPH to Lantus has been the reduced variability in action. And delivery via the Humalog pen appears to be very consistent.

I get my supplies from the Military Hospital because I am a retired service member and they do not have the lantus solostar flex pen but they do have the levimer flex pen. I also noticed with Lantus I get hungary allot but I do not give into the temptation of eating and I only eat twice a day but a heck of lot less then I had in the past. Will levemiere insulin get rid of that hungar pain and can I just use it like I use the lantus by taking 36 Units at night???.

tomorrow and I am looking for some input on this pen. I have never heard that the pen is innacurate but did read tonight that the Humalog pen must be held to the skin for a count of five---that could be ugly. We can't use the Lilly pen anyway because we need one with half units. I guess we would have to change to Novolog to use their pen. Any pen users with children have input???

My Dr has prescribed a glucose 2hr PC as part of my regular HA1c bloodwork, and I wonder what he hopes to learn. I use Lantus in the morning for my baseline and Humalog for meals/high sugar etc. His instructions have never been clear when I go for the bloodwork after fasting ( the other tests he runs at the same time as the HA1c require a 12 hr and 8 hr fast). Should I administer both insulins as I would normally (Lantus at brreakfast time and Humalog if the fasting sugar is high, ie.

It hasn't been working much though because she's high most of the time even when we watch what she eats and exercises. It just doesn't make much sense why the NPH isn't working anymore. She's on a sliding scale for Humalog and she gives a shot of 40 units of NPH in the morning.

t take my Novalog fast-acting insulin pen with me. However, I inject myself shortly after the meal, when I get back to the office. The max. amount of time I inject AFTER a meal is about 30 minutes. Is this a bad idea or should I assume that it's better to be late than never? I'm a 26 year old Type-1 diabetic by the way.

what should I do if I give myself 25 units of regular humalog insulin at night when it should have been 25 units of lantus? this happened last night at 10:00 and at 10:30 I drank a lot of juice with sugar loaded in it, and about 8 oz. of peanut butter that I figured would be broken down later to aid me if this over abundance of insulin was to overcome me. I waited until 11:30 and was exhausted and fell asleep. I was awoken at 1:30 A.M. in a seizure, my body convulsing.

Thats not true I never went under 145 or past 160 but since the lantus and humalog pen I have gained 22 lbs. I eat right,have my green shake, work out,exercise daily. Drink plenty of water. Eat very small healthy meals. I keep gaining weight. Im on a sliding scale because I now have fibrosis of the liver due to metformin And ibuprofen. Im going to ask to just stsy on lantus but levemere is so much better.

I have been controlling it with a sliding scale using Humalog Quick Pen. How fast does the ill-reversable damage set in? My medicine has been change from enailapril to coreg. Biopsity shows nothing.

i am on the levenmir pen iam at 63 ml and have been increasing every 3 days by 3 ml to no avail my blood sugar keeps climbing i heard the magic number is less than 120 i have been on this for aprox 3 months started out with 10ml is this correct? should my glucose level be climbing instead of going down??

The only time an air shot is necessary is when you open a new pen. 1 Time per pen only. If you are on the 1.2mg dosage a pen should last you 2 weeks.

His physical activity during the 2 hour periods after taking Humalog are about the same. The dosage criteria for Humalog are about the same (He takes one unit of Humalog for each 10 carbohydrate grams in the morning and one unit of Humalog for each 12 carbohydrate grams at dinner). The only other difference is that he takes NPH at the same time as Humalog in the am and does not take NPH at the dinner meal.

I started controlling my blood sugar using Regular insulin About 3 years ago, my doctor moved me to humalog. Using humalog was not easy. I looked at the study that was done and it never reacted as expected when I used it. It was taking 2 hours to start working and in by the third hour my glucose level would drop 200 to 250. It was also hard for me to sense when my blood sugar is low. That was very frustrating. After six month of roller coaster, my doctor put me on Novolog.

I know our readings are different in canada , 5 to 7 is normal.I have had sugars as high as 32 and used 10 units of humalog , half an hour later I am 34 , I don't understand this ? What is the ratio of humalog to carbs ? I had the flu and I know it can really mess up your sugars , but this was a month ago .Also , I generally feel better when my sugars are around 13 , anything below that and I feel the efects of hyperglycemea , I know that does,t make sense , but it is how I feel.
