Avatar n tn Hi doc; I'm a little confused how shampoo in the hair can affect the condition of the skin under the eyes, unless maybe I'm allergic to the shampoo.

Avatar n tn There is no pain and itch but skin under the nail and around the finger peels off. When soaking the thumb into the water, the skin turns to white. It has been for two years. In the past I soaked my hand into the dishwashing liquid without a glove. Then I noticed the skin was very dry and flaky as well as after the shower. I have got two diagnoses, the chronic paronychia and chronic eczema. Can you tell how to identify the chronic paronychia or chronic eczema on the finger?
Avatar f tn Hey same thing happened to me. It'll go away and come back. It's Eczema and unfortunately there's no cure. Since it's on your face/eye you won't be able to use normal Eczema medication. Instead use vaseline on the area every night and during the day use a heavy cream like Cetaphil (it's less greasy than vaseline) make sure you use the one with the screw top, the other isn't strong enough. For the itching use hydrocordazone.
1522016 tn?1292169443 Hi, welcome to the forum, eczema or allergic dermatitis occurs secondary to exposure to allergen and mediated by IgE antibodies. Your body is known to hypersensitive to certain things. You need to rule out the triggering factor like particular clothes you wear, any chemical agent you are exposed to etc. This triggering factor should be identified and should be avoided. A skin allergy test can be useful. Treatment includes anti histaminic and glucocorticoids against prescription.
Avatar m tn I found CASTOR OIL,PURE 100% COLD PRESSED ,has to be this one,not diluted with something else, wash your face and eyes warm water dry, then dip cotton bud in this oil and rub on the lids, making sure you get right to the edge of lids to the eye by pulling down and lifting lids, found it has a soothing feel instantly ,get better as time goes on,found better to do this before you go to bed,you will wake up alot better not dry or sore..

Avatar m tn Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. The type of medication prescribed will depend on many factors, including the type of eczema, past treatment, and the patient’s preference. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn I started to take it and my eczema seemed to be under control. Starting in May the skin around my eyes (Where I primarily used the cream) started getting paler. I am a dark-skinned individual so it was evident what was happening. I read that steroid creams sometimes cause hypo-pigmentation so I decided to stop using the medication. As it currently stands, the area around my eye and a small part on my chin is slightly inflammatory.
Avatar m tn Try to avoid caffeine, because it promotes water retention and leads to the dryness of the eye. You should also apply almond oil or skin creams containing vit C or K,alpha hydroxyl acids and kinetin. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn With my experiences w/my toddler..the RX'd lotions didn't work. However, I have used the Aveeno Oatmeal soak in the tub, the body wash and the lotion...to be honest I actually use the WalMart brand version of Aveeno. It has cleared his spots up really well. Another tihng that my sister in law uses is for hers is the Aquaphor. I do agree that the omega 3's & flaxseed could help based on what I have read about them. Hope this was somewhat helpful to you!! Take Care!
Avatar n tn t found the miracle cure to lessen the appearance of those small capillaries just under the skin that lead to the dark circles. And the puffiness goes away only temporarily. I've resumed to a vitamin e eye cream (the body shop), a cucumber eye gel, and a really good two-toned undereye concealer (susan posnick). Let me know if you find the permanent miracle cure!
Avatar n tn the steroid is the key to get it under co.trol at 1st then the other stuff will help longer term... Probioycs r soo important and a good multivitamin..even a prenatal vitamin even if you arent pregnant they have more vitamins in them. Great for nails, hair and skin.
Avatar m tn The type of medication prescribed will depend on many factors, including the type of eczema, past treatment, and the patient’s preference. Topical (applied to the skin) medication like mild steroids(hydrocortisone)to higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide) is frequently prescribed. If the eczema is more severe, phototherapy (a type of treatment that uses light therapy) or systemic (circulates throughout the body) medication like oral steroids may be prescribed.
9041091 tn?1410417329 To help with eczema get some Cortizone Eczema Lotion. Its betweeen $8-$10 a bottle.I ewas instructed not to put ANYTHINGthat has a scent to it on my sons skin becabecause it makes it worse and sunscreen has a scent and I've never heard of that helping either.
Avatar m tn I have eczema in my eyebrow/upper cheek on the left side of my face. I used to have dandruff, but it has essentially cleared after using zinc shampoo a few times a week. But the skin is still greasy under my brow and on my eyelid, which results in hairs being weak and falling out. Any suggestions to clear up the greasy skin? I've tried hydrocortisone cream, but to little avail. Also, the condition seems to worsen after a night of drinking alcohol - is that part of the problem?
Avatar m tn I dont shave off my mustache. Lately the dry area has been spreading to the edge of my lip. The area gets real dry, the skin hardens and it became darker than the rest of my shadow on my face. I can natuarlly get darker in the summer due to my puerto rican/south american descent. I've always used cream on my face and hands. It is very dusty here and the water isnt like in the states. Is there anything you can tell me about this? Its becoming very annoying. Can you give me any suggestions?

Avatar n tn I would recommend that he see an allergist that specializes in eczema. Eczema frequently has an allergic cause. Treat the underlying allergy and the eczema clears up. I know some people who have had success with Allergra and Zyrtec. My daughter only has eczema in the winter when she is not out side as much. This may also be related to a low vitamin D level. Has anyone checked his vitamin D level?
Avatar f tn What maight be the cause and how we could be treating for existing eczema. we are under homeoepathy and medical treatment now.
1388193 tn?1279734375 She has recommended me to do eye exercises, but I have not seen any improvement on the appearance of my eyes. They continue to not look like they are focusing in pictures, or mirrors and my eyes seem to be increasingly bulging out. Is that normal, because it has been taking a toll on my self-esteem and my confidence. What can I do? Is there a type of effective surgery that can return my eyes back to the way they used to be.
Avatar m tn Just hours after applying the old brand of deodorant the rash was back. Needless to say I now keep a good stock of the Degree Clinical protection. I hope this helps you.
