Common Questions and Answers about Eczema in the eye

eczema

Avatar m tn Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Moisturizing is one of the most important self-care treatments for sufferers of eczema.
Avatar n tn so I brought her 2 different dermatologists, they both prescribed creams but none worked, they only made it worse! the skin around the eyes are now whiter than the rest of the face that I think is the result of the cream. It's still itchy, and I've been applying Vaseline to those areas but the problem doesn't go away. Any suggestions are welcome. Please and thank you.

Avatar f tn The most causes for the dry patch are Eczema and Psoriasis. Eczema is one condition where the hands get cracked. In this disorder contact with triggering factors like soaps, cosmetics, jewelry, clothing, and detergents causes symptoms. Sometimes sweat, changes in temperature and psychological stress are known to trigger these episodes. Psoriasis is an auto immune disorder that can cause dry cracked hands. Genetic and immunologic theories have been predicted as causes for psoriasis.
Avatar m tn I am having itching in penis foreskin covering the head and also on the head from last 2 Weeks. A white substance is getting collected below foreskin of head and it is always wet. Small part of skin under the foreskin has become red and also there is pain when I touch it. On the head itching is no more there but a part of head has become dark colors. For last 4-5 days I started using "Quadriderm" cream which contains Clotrimozole IP. Please suggest me what to do.
Avatar f tn What is the best home or store bought for sever itching,I tried sarna I take a prescription hydroxsin benadryl.
Avatar f tn I quickly realised that the skin around my eye started to become red, itchy and scaly, reminiscent of eczema or some other dermatological condition, and this red scaliness was particularly bad on the eyelid. In fact, it gave the skin around my eye a badly wrinkled, slightly swollen appearance. I would wake up in the mornings and find my left eye “glued together” with this crusty, faintly yellow stuff and I would have to pry it open. After about a week of this, I visited a doctor.
Avatar f tn If I remember correctly, they were contained in a pink patch, almost like an eczema patch. I didn’t think much of it, and it seemed to flare in the heat and be fine otherwise. The bumps were even a little hard to see. That was in August. Our pediatrician said it looked like eczema but it didn’t really look like his other patches of eczema which were always rough and flaky.
1932415 tn?1325918449 Alright, the title of the question is on my eye but I have it on other body parts as well. I have it on the inside of my arms oposite to the elbow, on the back of my neck and on my left anckle. Dr. said it looked like eggzema when it was just my arm and told me to put hydrocortisone cream on it, but that was a diagnosis she gather from a simple glanze as she walked out the door. Now it has spread to my anckle, neck and eye now. Do you guys think it is eggzema?
Avatar f tn 1% which is excellent - I have used numerous steroid creams with results in the skin getting very soft so this is the best option for eczema on your face or around you eyes.
Avatar n tn That's exactly how my eczema started. I had patches on one eye after about 3 months of moving to Los Angeles. (Is it the dryness? Dust?) And then, it turned so horribly bad, I saw three doctors. The second one gave me steroids, it went away insanely quick, and then came back, worse than it was before. The third one gave me Elidel. It's not a steroid, and it works. There is still a little eczema on and around my eye, but I can live with it (though I hate it.
1559007 tn?1294715408 My daughter's eczema first started when she was around two. Her hands started pealing in the fall and pealed all winter, but it wasn't too bad. We eventually made an apointment with a dermatologist, but spring had come by the time her apointment came up and her hands had cleared up. The next fall it started again. We immediately made the apointment and got her in while they were still pealing. He prescribed several things that really do work for her.
601156 tn?1229285825 I have had an intense itching in my genital region that has come and gone in severity since my last encounter 3 months ago. My tests for HSV-1 and 2 came back negative at 4 and 8 weeks. Now I'm going in to get tested at 12. All the doctors I have seen (about 6 different ones now) have ensured me that "I'm fine". However I fail to accept that I have nothing, this itch wouldn't persist this way just because of a "worried mind".
Avatar m tn You could certainly try a short course of Tobradex ophthalmic ointment to the affected lid skin. If the condition has not improved in about a week or 10 days, I would have an ophthalmologist examine your child.
Avatar n tn Over the next few days my skin started to itch all around in the upper thigh area and in the thigh area there were maybe 2 or 3 spots where there was almost like a pimple. Each one would I would notice because it would itch and I would then realize there was a small bump, which I could pop and a very tiny small amount of white puss would come out just like popping a zit on the face or something. These spots of little pimples I'm actually starting to find all over my body now.
Avatar m tn There are drops to relive allergy and itching. In the USA Alway and Zaditor are the best over the counter. Elsewhere I do not know brand names. For more stubborn problems there are prescription allergy eye drops. there are no dropts to blanch or bleech the pigmented spots. See an ophthalmologist to get something for your itchy eyes and discuss the pigmentation changes.
Avatar f tn I had something very similar about a year and a half ago, including the peeling eczema under my eyes. The eye doc felt it was allergies that turned into a lengthy infection. I got antibiotic steroid eye drops and used them for 10 days. I also was prescribed Pataday once a day before bed, and I use over the counter Alaway once or twice during the day, too. The eczema went away, but bags didn't completely go away but they improved.
Avatar m tn The type of medication prescribed will depend on many factors, including the type of eczema, past treatment, and the patient’s preference. Topical (applied to the skin) medication like mild steroids(hydrocortisone)to higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide) is frequently prescribed. If the eczema is more severe, phototherapy (a type of treatment that uses light therapy) or systemic (circulates throughout the body) medication like oral steroids may be prescribed.
Avatar f tn What could be causing this? Could it be eczema? Psoriasis? Allergies? Herpes of the eye? Please tell me what else I can do to ease this!! I have never really had allergies bad- other than if I petted a cat for too long- I have no insurance and can't really afford to go to the doctor with this but I can't take much more. Thanks in advance for your time!
Avatar n tn I would recommend that he see an allergist that specializes in eczema. Eczema frequently has an allergic cause. Treat the underlying allergy and the eczema clears up. I know some people who have had success with Allergra and Zyrtec. My daughter only has eczema in the winter when she is not out side as much. This may also be related to a low vitamin D level. Has anyone checked his vitamin D level?
583092 tn?1218128207 My skin has become really dry in those places that were itchy, so I wanted to know if it was eczema or not and if the acne treatment could be the cause.
Avatar f tn Symptoms can include heart arrhythmias and smooth muscle spasms (the kind you get with a stiff neck or low back pain), flushing, pain twinges in the intestines, diarrhea, and--guess what--eczema and/or pruritis. If left untreated too long, there are some who say it can also lead to panic attacks since apparently the body sends out adrenaline to help deal with the excess histamines.
Avatar n tn 1%) cream and ointment (the cream was to be used once a day in the mornings, and the ointment was to be used once a day in the evenings). She instructed me to use the cream/ointment very sparingly, avoid getting or rubbing it into my eyes, and to only use for 14 days. After 14 days I am supposed to switch to an emollient. I am about a week into the treatment and the eczema is clearing up nicely. I was very careful not to get the cream or ointment into my eyes.
Avatar f tn Hello, and thank you in advanced. I'm a 24 years old female. I live in Virginia. My left eye's problems began in 2008. The problem began with watering of my left eye only out of the inner corner. This water wouldn't leak don my cheeks, it would collect on the top of my eyelid. This made just the corner red and irritated. Then the skin started cracking in the corners. I was given Pataday and antibotic ointment to put on these cuts and was told it was allergy related.
1227049 tn?1267237385 Hello, Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. A combination of treatments should be used. Along with topical steroids, you should use good quality moisturizers on the area. Immunomodulators like tacrolimus and Pimecrolimus are not without side effects and should be used after a dermatologist’s prescription.
