I am 5 weeks pregnant with my 3RD baby. I came down with a cold on Thursday. My cough is horrible and I have been running fevers a lot. I called my OB and she called in a RX for tamiflu. I've never been on it before but she assured me that it was safe. She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I never went thru this with my boys so I'm a little unsure. I did research and it seems safe. What are others opinion on this.
30 weeks pregnant, has anyone ever took tamiflu while pregnant? Any side affects to you or your child after birth?
I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and just found out I have the flu. My OB put me on Tamiflu but my primary said she wasn't sure about it. Has anyone been on this while pregnant? I'm worried it's going to hurt the baby. Also it did get the flu vaccine, I was only a couple weeks pregnant so I didn't know but I'm a little mad they push a vaccine that obviously doesn't work.
There are mixed thoughts on this. I got my first flu vaccine last year due to a good sell job by my doctor. :>) My kids have never gotten it. My thoughts: flu is rare. Much rarer than people think. I've had it twice in my entire life. My kids have never had it. Only certain populations are at true risk for mortality from it. It's miserable when you have it but not deadly.
told us that he was not eleigible to recieve a prescription for Tamiflu. Where can I find any federal or state restictions for eleigibility.
Yes I took tamiflu when I was pregnant with my son it's on the lowest scale for harming you or the baby. In other words its safe.
My OB called me and told me that as a prevention she wanted to put me on Tamiflu which is not recommended for pregnant women because the side effects are unknown. She said that the benefits would outweigh the negatives most likely because there have already been deaths linked to this strain of flu. The pharmacist didn't seem worried because I am 18 weeks along. Any of you ladies been put on tamiflu? Should I trust my doctor and pharmacist?
I did not know this re pneumonia vaccine--mine is getting near to 5 years old so good to know this anyhow. You seem very knowledgeable; do you know how long Tamiflu actually lasts? I have a packet of Tamiflu (from Roche, prescription) from November 2004 that says it expires in 2006 but I've also heard that Roche guarantees its tamiflu for five years, and when I phoned Roche today they'd only say "We do not recommend use beyond the expiration date," nor will my doctor.
Get to a doctor and get a tamiflu prescription asap if you test positive. It took me almost a month to recover.
For the last four days I been having flu like symtoms (fever, night sweats, body aches) , seen the dr. and he perscribed TAMIFLU. In what time frame would someone infected see symptoms if any at all?

Now, my first son that had been so ill took tamiflu and was better by night time in terms of his fever and how he felt. My second son started tamiflu as SOON as he spiked a fever. He never had a fever again. *I* having been vaccinated had no symptoms at all and feel like I didn't get sick or catch it because of that flu vaccine (my kids weren't vaccinated). Ask your doctor but in reality, you should actually be just fine with the regular dose flu. I understand the risks are greater.
Have you ever had the flu pregnant and how did it effect you and the baby? Also what did you take to treat it my Primary Dr. Wants me to take Tamiflu and im not comfortable with it.
Had the same exact thing for last few days. ON prescribed TAMIFLU and Tyenonol. It really helped w aches.
There are drugs such as tamiflu which can lesson flu symptoms but typically it is best used if given early on when symptoms first appear. Unfortuantely, the flu is a virus that runs its course----- but one must be careful of secondary infections. So, calling the pediatrician is a good idea.
As I said, my doc is pretty anti cough medicine because of secondary infections but best to go with your own docs plan of attack. Hope your little one gets well soon---- and wash your own hands a ton!
i was about 7 weeks pregnant and went to the ER,they said they werent sure if i had the swine flu or flu but not sure so they treated me for the swine flu anyways because i was pregnant,they gave me tamiflu....i wanted to know if there was any risks to the baby from having the flu or from the tamiflu?
