Over the years my Diabetes Insipidus has fluctuated in terms of how much DDAVP I need to take. Unfortunately I pee/ and get thirsty without the med. Right now I am taking the smallest pill, and break it in half. I take it before I go to bed. I seem to be able to do ok without taking it during the day (because I can drink/pee as much as i need to. If I do not take the DDAVP at night I wake up 4-6 times needing to drink water and pee. What test said that you do not need DDAVP?

My insurance probably won't cover thyrogen shots for my year scan and thyroglobulin test. Does anyone know how much 3 shots would cost me??? I don't look forward to going off my meds for several weeks since it took me 7-8 months to finally feel good after my tt. I was on 8 different synthroid doses until we got it right. I'm on 250mcg. I would rather pay for them then be miserable.

Hi again I would like to add that yes we have all see the posts about side effects that some people have experienced. Most if not all are related to treatment with interferon and while the problems those people have experienced are not good they are experienced by a minority of patients. Also I believe at least some of them had other medical conditions which most likely complicated their treatment or their livers were already in bad shape to begin with.

Sometimes you can get a doctor that does studies for GH and you can get it for free or low cost. It is starting to get cheaper as more companies are making it but the newer ones all have to be kept in the fridge which is a PAIN to travel with (so I tell them they are idiots to formulate that way!!!). Can you give us a ballpark of what this actually means for annual cost of care? What are the implications of leaving this untreated if she has on going access to fresh clean water?

Hiya, I read your post. My surgery recovery took about 3 months. But the hormone part can take a year, and will require periodic changes for the rest of your life. I also have DI. I hate it!!! At the beginning you have to be very careful about using too much DDAVP. I've seen many doctors since my surgery, and they do not understand the extreme thirst that we go through. They also tend to over medicate us. So make sure that you take periods in between doses to get rid of extra fluids.
