Common Questions and Answers about How long for vivelle dot to work

vivelle-dot

Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy in October 2009, I was put on the vivelle-dot patch. I'm on the lowest dose (0.05mg). I change the patch twice a week. I had my yearly mamogram (which has always been normal). I picked up the report today and it says: Findings: Dense and hetergenous breast parenchyma is again observed with minor asymmetry.
Avatar f tn ****I should have said this.....you can cut a Vivelle Dot of .025 mg in half to get the 'ulta low dose'.
1053407 tn?1352030371 Did any one have the protocal asprin 81 mg daily, crinone 8% twice a day, vivelle dot 2 patches every other day and prenatal vitamin. if so did it work for you.
Avatar f tn The latest and greatest is endo took me off birth control pills because of side effects. Which makes me very happy. He added Vivelle patch 0.1 and Prometrium 200 mg for ten days out of the month. Also upping my Humatrope. And taking another look at my thyroid. Anyone have experience with the Vivelle for estrogen replacement? The thing that has me super discouraged is my weight and my dr recommendation that I consider lap band. I currently am about 90lbs overweight.
Avatar f tn Shorty after my initial post, I went back on the Vivelle-Dot and had only mild spotting after three weeks. That week I had forgotten to change my patch for several hours after I should have. So the Vivelle -Dot seems to have alleviated the symptoms. The difference in cost for me is $120 versus $20 for a 3-month mail-order prescription. I am willing to pay $400 a year extra for the lessened symptoms, but others might be financially unable.
7649183 tn?1393014236 Hi, I had a hysterectomy years ago and have been taking the estradiol pill for years. I started recently using the patch since I thought it would be better for my liver and a more natural way to get the estrogen. I'm doing this to protect again osteoporosis. I take Vivelle-Dot lowest dose--.025. I feel fine, but my breasts are sore. They never were when taking the estradiol pill--.05/day.
Avatar n tn You might want to talk to your Dr about upping them to 1.0 mg. Or, you may want to think about something completely different like the Vivelle Dot patch. This is something your Dr will have to prescribe just like your Estrace pills.
Avatar n tn I am on hrt, viville dot patch. It seems to work. I really do not get hot flashes, do get night sweats sometimes. I have been told that this is all normal but wanted to know what is the best natural remedy for the mood swings and irritability???
Avatar f tn "Overlapping" may help. When you put on the new patch, leave the old one on for a half or full day before removing. If that doesn't work, you could try switching to the weekly Climara patch and "overlap" it if you still have the migraine trigger. I used the patch for over a year and it didn't work well for me due to the fluctuations and not giving me enough estrogen. But it did not cause migraines but I was never one to suffer with those, thankfully.
Avatar n tn 5 mg - I used to use Vivelle Dot .05, but my body stopped absorbing it, so I changed to the oral type) and a compounded bioidentical progesterone cream (1 mg. dose, although I use less, made at a compounding pharmacy) that I rub on to my wrist or upper arm or stomach (I move it around so my skin doesn't build up resistence to it). I have hormone testing annually to make sure my balances are right. I feel good on this regimen. How have things been going for you?
Avatar m tn I cahnged my vivelle dot yesterday afternoona nd went to a party last night. I ate during the evening and drank alcohol. I woke up around 3 a.m. with an unbeleivable migraine as well as the most extreme nausea that I have ever had. Then, I began throwing up avey 15-20 minutes for several hours. My maxalt didn't help my migraine. I finally removed the patch, took some migraine Excedrin and slept most of the day. My vomiting did stop late in the morning but I still ahve a pretty bad headache.
718868 tn?1230730029 only they took it all..I have a lot of good to say about estrogen replacement//Im on the vivelle dot which is a patch that you apply 2 times per week. its increased my happiness, Im not hot flashing and not a basket case of nerves...ask your doc about it..
Avatar f tn I'm almost 60 years old and have been experiencing severe hot flashes for years. A couple years ago I was put on 0.05mg Vivelle-dot patches. I'm still having the flashes. My forehead, especially, sweats a lot wetting my bangs completely! Would going on a higher dose of Vivelle stop the hot flashes? I want to keep on bioidentical-type remedies and wondered if something else included/instead of would do the trick. I'd greatly appreciate help!
178345 tn?1242536246 Unfortunately I ended up having to go back in for emergency surgery a week after for a ruptured bowel and because I was cut 2x in the same week i needed a wound vac for almost 3 weeks to help heal the wound. I was put on the vivelle dot patch when I came home from the hospital and started on 1.0 and now i am down to 0.5. I occassionally have a hot flash nothing terrible and for the most part feel ok..
Avatar f tn I had a complete hysterectomy 5 1/2 years ago at the age of 35 for a borderline serous tumor in one of my ovaries. I have been on the vivelle dot .1mg patch for several years with no problems. Lately, I have been having symptoms of low estrogen like hot flashes. Unfortunately, my gyn oncologist has retired so I have been seeing my regular ob for my yearly follow up.
Avatar f tn I have to agree with the above ladies I use the vivelle patch and had to get the dose adjusted once, I am almost symptom free, I still have an occasional hot flash but Im 90% good. I really recommend the patch for vivelle its very easy to use, you dont have to take a pill every day, just slap on a new patch 2 times a week.
1222892 tn?1312148824 Hi All, I went to my follow up appt yesterday and got the doc to release me so that I can go back to work tomorrow. He says everything is healing great and to just take it easy for another few weeks so I will be sitting down working on various projects so I do not have to lift things etc. He said that he removed everything including cervix so I asked if I still need paps he said no. I am having "so far" no hot flashes or night sweats.
Avatar m tn I started taking something for adrenal support and believe it or not I am starting to feel better. I had the test for adrenal (cortisol) and it showed fine, but I read where blood work for hormones doesn't really show what your body is absorbing, but salvia test does, I can't find a doctor in my area that does salvia testing, I just know that I don't feel like sleeping all the time now but I would like to know what you are taking.
Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear you had this surgery. I know how difficult it is. I never took Lupron so do not have that experience but ovary removal would be similar to being on Lupron permanently. I became severely depressed and mildly anxious along with a whole laundry list of other nasty symptoms after my organs were removed. And frankly, my gynecologist who did the surgery wasn't at all helpful afterwards. You are not even on the highest dose patch; .1mg is the highest dose.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your response, Quinn... Gigi: Estrace is a small blue/green pill that you can take orally or you can stick it up your who-ha. :) It wasn't expensive for me but it was covered by my insurance so it was $10 for a 30 pills. I think I'm supposed to take it during the 2 week wait and then stop.
1053407 tn?1352030371 So the only thing we have in common is the prenatals, I blame them too then.
Avatar f tn It is totally up to me whether they stay or go. Just trying to make the right decision for me. I keep going back and forth. Can I hear from anyone who has had a hysterectomy....what decision they made on the ovaries and how they are doing now?
Avatar f tn Hi I don't know how much this will help but I am coming from having hormone replacement to trying to get off of it and it's horrible. I am calling my doctor in the morning to start going back up. I had a hysterectomy when I was 26 and have been on premerin all these years. DO NOT get on premerin not matter what. It is a terrible drug. It worked for me for years but for other reasons I will not take it and nobody should. I am on Vivelle Dot.
Avatar f tn Oh great one of the side effects of vivelle dot patch is back ache,,that explains my lower back pain,,,it did happen after going on vivelle, but i am thinking clearer maybe it willl go away
