What would happen if you rubbed pure nitroglycerin on your skin?
I'd like to know the symptoms on and below the skin. I know that nitroglycerin is used for anginas, but I also know that it's generally mixed with something else, so I'm curious about how well pure nitroglycerin would work and what it would do.
And if you had a vial of pure nitroglycerin, what could you mix it with to be able to use it as ointment?
If you are taking a nitroglycerin preparation, Viagra is NOT allowed. Do not use Viagra within 24 hours of the test. Nitro-glycerine (sometimes given during a stress test) may interact with Viagra, resulting in a dangerous drop in blood pressure.

The goal of treatment is to control chest pain and to prevent heart attack. The pain is relieved by a medicine called nitroglycerin (dilates coronary vessels). You have been prescribed norvasc and that should relieve any chest pains. Norvasc is in a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. The same with his recent heart catherization was chest pressure. In the ER he was given 2 nitroglycerin, 5 minutes apart, the chest pressure went away after the 2nd nitroglycerin.
Does any good specialist in cardiology think that my husband should have the open heart surgery for bypasses considering the risks regarding his age, his diabetes?
I would appreciate very explanatory answers, easy to understand, what to do in my husband's situation.

s esophagus, GERD, gastic paralysis, fibromyalgi, chronic fatigue, Sicca syndrome, list goes on.....This is something new...sudden very severe shooting pain going up right side of neck, carotid area, sometimes into ear, but not always. Relieved with nitroglycerin. Any guesses as to what this could be?
If you miss a dose of Nitroglycerin Patch, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once. When used for long periods of time without a break, some people develop a physical need to continue taking Nitroglycerin Patch. This is known as physical DEPENDENCE. Do not suddenly stop taking Nitroglycerin Patch without your doctor's approval.
U really need to sit down with ur GI dr and ask what is the root cause....for some it is a hiatal hernia...others it can be stress....but, all must watch ur diet...different foods can affect ur acid produiction....even if it is not an acidic food. Dairy is not a good thing for most with these issues.

The following day I had the nuclear and echo gram test. The 3rd day I had chest discomfort again and was given nitroglycerin and immediately the discomfort was gone (first time I ever had a nitro tablet). This happened twice in my 4 day stay in the hospital.
First told I had a cardiomyopathy because my stress test showed diffuse hypokinesis, stress fraction of 37% and resting fraction of 42%.
If it ONLY has #3 on one side and nothing on the other, white and round, according to drugs.com, it is Nitroglycerin .3mg - however, it would be best to double check with your pharmacist - they'd be able to tell you for sure what it is.

I take a nitrate (isosorbide) for more than 6 years 3 times before going to gym for workout. My blood pressure does not drop between intervals...in fact I was told to have intervals of nitrate free period. It is true, nitro dilates the coronary vessels and prevents angina (chest pain). The patch should only be worn for up to 12 to 14 hours a day, or as directed by your doctor, but continued use with no interruptions can cause a tolerance for drug....
After that till this time ther is no problem and i have never visited a Cardiologist also. I had little BP which is well undercontrol with medicines.
I am told that Doctors in USA prescribe Sorbitrate to the Ischaemic patients and also for senior citizens.Is it true. If so will you suggest me to keep sorbitrate, if so what is the minima dosage i have to kept.

My cardiologist thinks the the probability of me having an occluded/blocked coronary artery is very low. My question is, why then am I responding to the nitroglycerin, it being a vasodilator (widens the blood vessels)??? Gastritis and GERD have been ruled out. the doctor thinks it could be anxiety then shouldn't they be giving me a sedative or relaxant as opposed to a vasodilator? I have a pending stress echo test in a couple of weeks and if this test is again normal...
husband received a stent yesterday due to a 99% LAD blockage! He is the typical type A personality and this only adds to his already stress overload. I realize we are lucky he is still here and thankful for medical technology. I am just concerned that this will forever be a constant worry for him. Any suggestions of how I can help him. Also I asked his MD about having nitroglycerin to have on hand and he said that this wasn't necessary??? Should I insist that we have some available?

Apart from this you should be on maximal medical therapy including beta blockers, ace inhibitors, aspirin and plavix as well as a statin. Is you heart function preserved after the heart attack? It is possible that your shortness of breath is secondary to systolic dysfunction and not only pneumonia. In fact, the so called pneumonia you had could have been congestive heart failure all along and not a bacterial pneumonia at all.
Great work and fantastic price. One of te drugs prescribed was Nikoran OD 10. Nikoran is an old formula apparently so not expensive, but still seems to work ok. I can not buy Nikoran in Bangkok or Phnom Penh and I've got about 2 weeks supply left.
What is a suitable replacement for Nikoran?
Depending on how long the spasm last, one can have a heart attack related to it. This is why patients with this condition should always carry nitroglycerin with them at all times.
The doctors just did an ECG and say all is good. Is this possible? She is on constant Nitroglycerin and Morphine prn. Should she get a second opinion? What other procedures could she have done to take away this pain? She says the pain is getting more frequent and stronger. Thank you for your responses.
