how fast does glipizide work

Hi, I recently went on glipizide after a very bad reaction to victoza. I was losing weight, but now the glipizide is keeping me at the same weight. Has anyone had the experience that is the same? and is there a lower does that anyone has still been able to lose weight with? and yes I'm on a low carb diet and excercise plan. I'm doing better with this than I did before and I lost 33 pounds. It's the glipizide.

A little about me: I don't eat at regular intervals, I don't snack , I have 3 meals a day . Wake up at 530 go to work, eat breakfast at 9 and then my lunch around 12 , dinner between 5-630. Is it OK to double, or tipple, your medication? I take Glipizide 10 mg. The reason asked is that I have been monitoring my glucose and it has been between 200 - 300, and I would like to lower my readings.

is glipizide 10mg the same as glyburide 5mg / because my husband was drinking the gyburide and when we went for the new prescription it had changed to glipizide and he hasn't felt good since the change do i call his doctor

I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.

Hello, you will need to keep increasing your insulin dose until it does work. You are taking steroid which means that you could be quite insulin resistant and will need quite a high dose. You should be using both basal (long acting) for your background blood sugar and bolus (short acting insulin) to cover meals. Are you working with a diabetes educator? I have 5 days till my due date and baby doesnt seem to want to come any time soon. The doctor said is I went to 41 weeks they would probably induce me. How exactly does that work? I thought it was just some kind of medicine they gave you through an IV but a friend said something about them sticking a needle up there. t look like blisters anymore 9 days since I last took the valocyvir. Does this med work that fast and once there is formation of blisters will they always pop or can the medicine prevent this even though I only took it for 2 days?.

will continue taking metformin as usual and take the glipizide with at my morning break at work with my breakfast and take the pm metformin before dinner. she thinks this might help level things out. at this point i don't feel happy about taking so much meds, but until i can add more excerise into my daily choires i don't have much choice. she suggested trying to walk a little each day even if i don't do long distance. if my knee holds out, then i'm good to go.

You are going to need to do basal testing to work out how much basal insulin you need. You will also need to bolus testing to work out your carb: insulin ratio. You can find information on this testing online. Also recommend the books: Using Insulin (John Walsh) and "Think Like a Pancreas'. Please do work out how to have good control. Such high blood sugars put you at risk of complications sooner than later.

am now taking glipizide 5 mg along with colestipol 1gr twice daily and gabapentin 300mg 3 times daily and my blood sugar levels are staying high. First time on all these meds and my sugar levels were fine on lisonpril. Could one of thse being causing the high readings. My diet is the same if not lower in sugar and calories.
