glucotrol

Avatar f tn I am a type 2 diabetic and I concerned about fasting (religious) and taking glipizide. I have been on metformin for over 14 years and have had to recently add glucotrol to my regimen. I do not have any low blood sugar symptoms at all and I am scared of the time I have to restrain from eating. Is any one else ever dealt with this?
Avatar n tn t know much about glipizide just the fact that I have to take it before a meal. Also, how important is it that you have to eat 30 minutes after taking glipizide? Let's say I go over the 30 minutes?
Avatar f tn A1C is now in the normal range for 3 yrs now. It went from 6.7 to 5.3 where it has stayed for 3 yrs. I did loss 100 lbs. tho and have keep it off for 3 yrs as well.
Tbd I have diabetes and am having difficulty managing medications. I take 2000 mg of Metformin and 10 mg of Glipizide each day, and I get sick: nausea, dizziness, confusion. What am I doing wrong?
647391 tn?1275016633 It is pretty common for me to have them. I was switched to glipizide a couple months ago. I wonder if it is the right med for me. I tried to go the website you recommended and did not have success getting there. Once thanks for the response.
Avatar n tn When you drink alcohol the liver stops all other activity and removes the poison from your blood (alcohol). When it does that it no longer dumps sugar OR removes metformin from your system. To much metformin can cause lactic acidosis which if drinking for days and continuing to take metformin can be deadly. You dont say what you were drinking. if it contains carbohydrates (beer not the light beers, regular soda in mixed drinks) then you will have high BG But NOT from the alcohol.
Avatar n tn I have recently been prescribed Metformin for type 2 diabetes and have gone from 500 mg to 1,500 mg per day. A1C and glucose is worsening despite higher dose and strict diet, exercise. Does my body have an issue with the drug? I was considering Berberine as a natural supplement instead of Metformin, thoughts?
Avatar f tn I am on 3 tablets a day of each of Glipizide (5mg) and Metformin (500mg). I take the Glipizide equally spaced out during the day but the Metformin one at lunchtime and two with my evening meal as instructed.
2053416 tn?1330411192 I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.
Avatar f tn Hello.........you are not alone...I have been having effects of metformin and glipizide since May 27, 2015. I am going into the clinic tomorrow. My pharmacist said "oh there is a bug going around". This is clearly not a bug this is either the meds are in too warm of a temperature and not being as effective or I've got another kidney infection. Been up with abdominal pain, bloating, gas ..just can't get comfortable and my numbers are not coming down as fast as they were.
Avatar n tn Gliclazide? Did you mean to say Glipizide? When writing names of medications it is important to spell them correctly as printed on the bottle/vile/container. Medication adjustments and/or changes only can be answered by your attending physician as he/she has access to your medical records/history to provide the correct evaluation, not strangers on Internet public health forums.
Avatar m tn I dont think this med is taking care of my diabetetes, i ahe other high sugar levels at times, have swae\tinf spells, and i ahve checked it during these and my blood sugar isnt low. any sugestions out there. BY iam type 11 diabetic.
Avatar f tn I assume its morning now, you have dawn phenomenon (DP). you wake up in the morning and your body is getting ready to start the day, you know chasing down wild gazelles. well we used to, anywise when you wake up your body releases a lot of hormones and your liver does a glucose dump to give you energy so you can get going. Glucofage helps with liver dumps.
Avatar m tn That happened to me with metformin and my doctor switched me to glipizide. Now my numbers are going in the right direction. I think you need to complain to your doctor and find what works for you.

Tbd Recently whenever I checked my fasting blood sugar it is not below 170. I take Metformin Extended Release 1000 mg two times a day and Glipizide 10mg two times a day. Still the numbers are almost same at 170 and sometimes crossing 200. I do moderate exercise. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I have noticed the metformin pills passing through completely whole. I have taken them apart, they still have powder in them. Also since the h pylori and increased metformin my blood sugar testing has gone to as high as 459. Went to dr and he put me on insulin. This has gradually brought blood sugars down to 114 and 250. What do i do?
Avatar n tn I was on metformin and had no issures, than she switched mr to glipizide 5 mg for a week 1 daily and than after 1 week raise it to 2 daily, so that may be problem in it self.
Avatar f tn If you have diabetes and are under the care of a specialist for it you may consider have the hcv treatment doc and the diabetes doc have a chat to figure out how your progress/labs/diabetes meds can be monitored and adjusted if necessary.
Avatar f tn I tried Metformin but was allergic so now they have me on Glipizide. So far my numbers have been in 100-125 after taking meds. It can drop you down low if you don't eat enough carbs in your meal so you have to be very strict on your routine when taking this med. I eat lean with a healthy balance of lean meats, carbs(fruits and healthy carbs) and tons of veggies. I also do water aerobics and just added strength training. Track with my fitness pal.
317787 tn?1473358451 Thank you again for your response, I have decided to try diet to control the blood sugar. Since I stopped the Metformin a few days ago I am feeling better than I have in weeks.
Avatar f tn i have problems lower my blood sugar. I take 2500mg metforman, 10mg glipizide per day. My morning blood sugar averages 146-162, mid-day average 110-113 and night average 138-168. I can't get morning levels down. At times my level drops at work and i have to find something sweet to bring blood sugar up. can anyone help me?
Avatar f tn Now since I posted my question I decreased my dose to once a day in the morning of glipizide and I immediately lost weight the next day. And I have lost .4 every a day doing this, so it does cause weight gain, but works well on my sugars and does not make me sick like every drug I've tried. I could cut it as long as I'm being good with my excercise, and low carb diet. I know how to lose weight, I've lost 30lbs last year. I think cutting my dose and doing this will work now.
Avatar f tn In addition he was also given medication for Diabetes Type II, metformin 850 mg, glipizide 5mg, lisinopril 5 mg, simvastatin 20mg, Asprin 81 mg, Ranitidine 150 mg. Additionally he was also prescribed Naproxen 500mg and Alumina Magnesia 360 ml. I think this is too much medication. Any suggestions? The pain meds are for arthritic hip and knee and rotator cuff surgery.
Girl I also take Metformin. I have noticed since going on the medication I have bad breath. Is it me or has anyone else had this side effect?
