Common Questions and Answers about Hormone therapy high blood pressure

hormone

Avatar f tn I have taken the same blood pressure med for 17 years and kept my levels normal. After using the hormone cream and adrenal supplements for three weeks, my blood pressure soared. My doctor took me off the supplements, but my blood pressure was still dangerously high. She doubled my present BP med plus added another med before it would come back down. I also had a CT Scan on adrenals and thyroid, which was normal. I am now having extreme hot flashes that I did not have before.
Avatar m tn My health/sanity issues have not changed. I have anxiety, high blood pressure, hypothyroidism, high cholesterol, insomnia, body aches, memory problems, difficulty concentrating and staying on tasks, no sex drive, the list goes on. My family doctor; does not seem to know what to do, so I am losing confidence in her. I remain confused about HRT, so I requested testing. My doctor says hormone testing is expensive and is not accurate; she refused to order the test.
Avatar f tn Postmenopausal women have a higher risk of high blood pressure than do premenopausal women suggesting that the hormonal and biochemical changes of menopause may play a role in high blood pressure. I think it is believed that due to the hormone changes, your body becomes a lot more sensitive to salt. Hormone replacement therapy HRT also raises blood pressure in many women. There are other possible reasons for increased blood pressure such as kidney problems.
Avatar n tn the pressure was normal but after removal of uterus, the sudden change in blood pressure is observed resulting sweatening.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with high blood pressure when i was 18yrs old (when iwas only 125lbs and a cross country runner) My doc monitored my BP for about 2 months, did an EKG and put me on an ace inhibitor. I never questioned it i just took the meds. I moved 3 yrs later and saw a new doc and he continued my current meds...at 26 i was switched to Aldomet 250 mg 2x day...due to the fact that i was to be married and start a family.
Avatar f tn A couple of members here, including myself, watched Robin McGraw yesterday speak about bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. Did you know that women as young as their teens can have hormonal imbalances ? And that you can show signs of perimenopause in your 20s... feel horrible and be misdiagnosed with chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia ? And yet the medical field has failed us again on this other issue.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed at age 49 in May, 2007 with Stage II, 3 nodes positive. I had 4 rounds of A/C and 4 rounds of Taxol followed by 33 rounds of radiation. My doctor now wants to put me on hormone therapy. I am premenopausal but haven't gotten my period since July due to chemo. She won't put me on Tamoxifin because of a past history of TIA several years ago. She said I would be at too high a risk for stroke on it.
3249922 tn?1347023649 t be so quick to make assumptions nor would I be quick to self-treat with supplements - especially if you have high blood pressure and could possibly be on other medications. With any treatment it's usually a balance of weighing the benefits against the consequences - and if it's worth it is up to you.
1833444 tn?1325557062 If you have no prior history of high blood pressure i would think theres a very good chance as these meds do crazy stuff....... I have read here where those with high BP before tx saw it go down while on treatment...... Good luck going forward.
Avatar f tn s then it may be getting low. The 145 is actually high. My husband has high blood pressure, so we all take our blood pressure a lot.
Avatar m tn I do think that continued high blood pressure can cause kidney problems. You've had this going on for quite awhile now so it's time to do something about it. Most Drs will do nothing if ***'s below 139/89, because it's pre hypertension and they want you to try and control with it with less stress, diet and exercise. But 160/100 is hypertension. Solace gives you great advice. Get more reading so they can take an average.
212161 tn?1599427282 The causes of high blood pressure vary. Causes may include narrowing of the arteries, a greater than normal volume of blood, or the heart beating faster or more forcefully than it should as with anxiety issues. Any of these conditions will cause increased pressure against the artery walls. High blood pressure might also be caused by another medical problem. Most of the time, the cause is not known.

Avatar f tn I know that thyroid disease causes high blood pressure and high cholesterol , but i am not aware of the medication raising it, it does increase your heart rate, due to speeding up your metabolism but medications affect everyone different and I suppose it would be possible 120/70 is a good range, MD's differ on opinions on what constitutes high blood pressure, I have been told under 120 was ideal by one and under 130 by another.
Avatar f tn I am 74 years old and have been on Hormone Therapy for 24 years. My new doctor had advised me that she will not continue my prescription because she in uncomfortable to prescribe to a woman over 65 years of age. I think that is my decision to make.
Avatar f tn I have been told from the start that with a lumpectomy I would need radiation. I found out later about the hormone therapy. I want to know if this is standard of care for my situation. I had a 1cm lump including DCIS and ILC. My margins were 6mm, 1cm, 5cm, 6cm. The ILC was in a linear pattern and low nuclear grade. 4 of 4 nodes were negative for cancer. I am ER+ 100% and PR+ 90%. I am HER2 negative. I was told my cancer was caught very early and I should be OK.
