Common Questions and Answers about Hormonal acne skin care

acne

Avatar f tn Hello, The problem of enlarged pores on face or facial pores is commonly associated with excessive oiliness and acne. The excessive oiliness of the skin is in turn triggered by the hormonal changes in the body. Large pores can be easily dealt with proper cleansing and frequent toning and moisturizing of the skin. Other treatments to consider include microdermabrasion, skin resurfacing lasers and chemical skin peels.

Avatar f tn It is probably hormonal. The swellings and acne you are describing are in your T-zone, a very common place for these kinds of skin conditions. If this is a chronic condition, your best bet is to see a dermatologist.
Avatar n tn I would like to know what has developed on both sides of my neck and is extending to the back of my neck and to my shoulders. They are skin colored, soft, round and sometimes I feel heat from the inside of them. They are slightly raised. I am wondering if they may be cholesterol or hormonal related?
Avatar f tn try eating oatmeal and cut out sugar...I started eating oatmeal and my skin cleared very nicely. I have hormonal acne, I don't use any topical medication as it is b.s.! I can tell you one thing, if you are over 30 and still have acne...there is probably a hormonal imbalance. Think about balancing youself from within. Diet and excersize increase my blood circulation and improve my skin drastically.
Avatar n tn So can you get it from being pregnant? I do take care of my skin and body. Is there any way I can prevent it?
Avatar f tn I was using to murad acne exfoliating gel and mederma skin care gel for that scars. Is it safe to continue using it? Please help!
Avatar f tn I have been getting dark blotches on my face, mostly on my cheeks and upper lip. They are darker than my skin color and are not going away. Not sure what they are, is it sun damage or something else. The discoloration on my upper lip is what bothers me the most. Please help!!
Avatar m tn You should wash your face with a nonirritating, pH-balanced cleanser to decrease inflammation. Avoid scrubbing the face. Do not pop or pick at pimples. A correct nutritional balance and skin care will be helpful. Drink plenty of water every day. Take 7-8 hours of sleep daily. Have a balanced diet rich in vitamin A, zinc and rich in multivitamins. Vitamin A strengthens the protective tissue of the skin and helps in reducing sebum production.
Avatar f tn I need some advice on how to deal with my 13 year old daughter's skin. A year or so ago she was getting a lot of pimples. We purchased a regular acne care cleanser and she began using it once a day. It made her skin very dry and flaky, so we switched to a "sensitive skin" acne cleanser. We assumed that the BP in most acne cleansers was just drying her sking too much. She began using the sensitive skin acne cleanser twice a day. She does NOT use a moisturizer.
Avatar f tn I start taking this and it finally help with my terrible acne. I have acne in my back, face and chest. Some its really deep and leave marks everywhere. Go to a dermatologis, and try different treatments. Good luck!!!
Avatar f tn Lastly it can be due to hormonal influence and overproduction of sebum by the sebaceous glands. Skin on the face, chest, and back has an especially large number of sebaceous glands. These are the areas where acne occurs. Diet is not a cause of acne but can be a contributing factor. So avoid taking any excess fatty diet and consult a dermatologist for the topical treatment of acne. Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much, you're very kind. Yes, I do have extremely oily skin as well as acne, although my acne has improved over the years. I'm currently undergoing laser hair removal on my face and have been told to avoid chemical peels, etc. until that procedure has been completed. In the mean time I guess I'll try and hang in there and look into proper cleaning and toning options.

Avatar n tn Currently manufacturers of skin products have been trying to provide a wide array of skin care products to suit each skin type. For an individual to get the best skin care, one should follow a particular regimen of cleansing, toning , exfoliating and moisturizing. As one grows older however, exfoliation may damage the thinning skin. Cleansing and moisturizing are still essential as one ages. The use of sunscreen for the face is still a must.
Avatar n tn How old are you? What is your skin type? Oily? Dry? Sensitive? Is it flaky? Most acne sufferers have more sensitive skin than they think and they treat and treat and treat and rarely see any good results. Overwashing and scrubbing and medicating is the last thing the skin needs. The key is to getting the it balanced. If you are red, your skin is probably very irritated and needs a break from any cleansers or treatments. Wash in the morning with a very mild cleanser (no harsh chemicals!
Avatar f tn So, I had to fill out a questionaire with a million questions before I see an RE at the end of the month. One of the questions was about acne, and whether I have it or not. What does having acne mean? (I've heard getting acne can be a sign of something, I just can't remember what) Lately, I've been having so many breakouts, and today noticed I had some back acne. Gross! I never had acne before.
Avatar n tn s cyclic outbreaks, this could be due to hormonal changes in your body. Aside from hormonal changess during mentruation, the following have been found to make acne worse: oil-based makeup, suntan oil and hair products, stress, squeezing or picking at blemishes and hard scrubbing of the skin. It is important to clean your face everyday and avoid harsh chemicals. Over-the-counter acne medications may also help. There are plenty of people with the same situation you are in.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have had small bumps show up along my jawline and under my chin and do not know what is causing this. Is there answer out there? I have always had great skin and no issues with acne even as a teenager-so what gives?
1388445 tn?1289267388 Hello, Acne after the age of 30 or more is referred to as Adult Acne. They occur due to hormonal imbalance at this age. Just keep you face clean by washing with a mild soap atleast twice a day. Pat it dry and do not rub it. Avoid picking or pressing the acne. You can also use Benzoyl peroxide 5% lotion or gel once at bedtime. An amount of lotion the size of a pea should be enough to cover most of your face.
Avatar f tn All his life he has had clear skin, not until we began a sexual relationship did his skin begin to change. It looks like acne but we both know its not that because it started as just irritation around his penis after sex but over the months it spread towards his back and arms. Its like a hue of small bumps both clear and redish.
